Jacks and Micheals version of events seems inconsistent with each other to put it mildly. It definitely feels like some of the details are missing as what Micheal has described makes no sense when you consider he was starting or coming on in every game.
If Micheals version is the more accurate one, then it reflects poorly on Jack.

While I have been critical of Burns this makes no sense. It seems like Jack has totally lost it. I heard something similar happened with Gavin Crowley.
While it's fine to say someone isn't in your plans etc you'd imagine that you'd have another option. Who was the other option for Burns this year? Bruke? Who he barely played anyway.

The more I think of it, the more I realise that next year will be the exact same panel bar reshuffling the deck.
I can't see any boaters..

Michéal went away to play in America, probably had a more enjoyable summer than for many years and has come back firing on all cylinders with Crokes. Whatever the truth is I wish him all the best.

Is it too early to look for people's first 15 for first day out in the league? Be interesting to hear peoples teams Shane Ryan Cian Lynch Jason Foley Tom O’Sullivan Graham O’Sullivan Mike Breen Brian O’Beaglaoich Diarmuid O’Connor Sean O’Connell Darragh Lyne Sean O’Shea Paudie Clifford Killian Spillane Donal O’Sullivan Dylan Geaney

Kerry are favourites in the bookies.
But at this time of year that's not worth a *e.
All I'll say is this..
Kerry will win Sam next year...
I believe it.. we are good enough.
A bit of faith lads.

Lads, a few here might remember dawn run, a great champion, but over raced, love the optimism here, but I feel like a dawn run, tough times ahead.

Kind of inclined to agree, we have plateaued, don't think there is anything fresh coming in that can seriously challenge the starting XV. You'll have a returning Graham who was our best league player last year until he got injured. I'm hoping Joe and Dylan push on and maybe, just maybe if the new rules come in the likes of Killian may come to fruition. I'm hate being downbeat, but can't see any freshness either side of the white line.... Can anyone make a serious case for anyone from the local c'ship...bar maybe Charlie Keating? No matter what way we look at it.. it was Geaney, White, Seanie and Brosnan that were the primary men locally...

Makes plenty of sense to me, says a lot about the man who is still in charge ..... somehow. Doesn't he look even more foolish now with all the departures in that line of the field since.

Ah there is a case for a few fellas, we’re not overflowing with overqualified candidates but we should still be finding a few capable of contributing. Darragh Lyne had a good championship and would provide an athletic wing forward with size an option that we don’t have with Burke gone. I thought Cian Lynch was outstanding for the u20s this year, he’s serious pace and his game isn’t about attacking unlike Tom and Graham which makes him ideally suited to a corner back role with the new rules. When Crokes are finished let Mark O’Shea and Sean O’Connell battle it out in training and whoever is coming out on top throw into midfield for a few games. Will Keith Evans push on, lovely footballer with pace to burn although still very light.

We def have to give these new guys plenty air time during the NFL, you don’t show up in croke park in June and July without having some experience , so def finding a few new guys is key and that will take playing games.

Ideally, would sacrifice or not put divisional one retention as a priority - we need to look at the bigger picture. Unearthing lads, and giving them adequate game time to me is more important at this juncture. There has been a "fear" of relegation about us and bringing back lads early to get points on the board but learning nothing.
To me, div two is cut throat and very competitive but there can still be a freshness about you after completing the league there. I felt Dublin and Armagh got the benefit of the lower division, got the competitive clashes, but still retained the freshness required for later in season.
The bigger question is, what is Jack's priority, or is that more a county board decision with regard to gate receipts and the possibility of lesser opposition the next year effecting the coffers?

There is no reason why you cant try out a good few players and still retain division one status. In fact only a few years ago a few posters on here were saying division 2 football would be a bad thing and using Mickey Harte s quote saying "you cant win All Ireland from Div 2" which was a silly comment. Since then after the Dubs and Armagh winning from division 2 the mindset has changed.Having said that the best tests are Division one and I would hope Kerry remain there but do try out 7 or 8 new players. Even in the McGrath cup 2years ago Jack was very conservative. We have to give lads a chance and plenty of them.Thats how confidence is built up. Hopefully the new rules help us too.We cant be depending on David to drag us over the line every game. Its no coincidence that our last two championship defeats to Dublin and Armagh that David was quiet (albeit not helpes by our negative style). Jack and selectors should use the league to blood lads while still have a core of regulars to keep the team strong and hopefully retain div 1 status but lets take one game at a time.

Lads it’s 1 December, time for collective training, also time for kerry to name its squad for 2025, let’s hope we see Jacks squad published tomorrow.
Like to see what has been unearthed over the last few months.

With the new rule-changes, I think you maybe want to go less experimental in the league with your team-selection. Need to get players used to the rules, and probably the team that adapts best to the new rules will win the all-Ireland.
2-point line may be the biggest change. When do you shoot from outside? Do you have tactics to create 2-point attempts (e.g. play the ball inside, and then pass back)? Where do you play Clifford and Sean O'Shea, inside, or moving outside for long-range attempts?
And then, how you defend the two-point line is a whole other question.
You probably need a bit of trial-and-error for all this.
The compressed championship now, it doesn't give you much time. Need to get your tactics down a bit in the league.

Jack has been in situ long enough at this stage that we know well what his priorities are and how he'll treat the league. He's not going to change his spots at this stage. There will be minimal enough experimenting and with one year left on his term (and the chances of his reign being extended minimal enough - the vibes I've been getting the last while is that even if he were to bring Sam home and win the league that he'd still probably struggle to get an extra year in charge; there's always people giving out about the manager [it's the nature of the Kerry job] but it's been striking the last while talking to people how much it seems it is time for a new broom, even among folk I'd consider strong Jack loyalists) there will be little to no long-term thinking about unearthing lads for the future.

What young lads have been ripping it up at county or club championship level that Jack is ignoring? Who took their chance last year in the league and Jack took the safe view to play the experienced player more? Paul Geaney didn’t play half the league and no1 stood up in his absence. Dylan Geaney and Burke were the closest thing to breakthrough players but were injured for most of the year. After watching the county championship, the players who start for Kerry are the best players in Kerry. Some experimentation will happen, particularly in midfield and a couple of forward positions but the reality is the best Kerry team isn’t far off the team that started v Armagh
