Looking at the Donegal and Galway teams I reckon Galway are better in 11 or 12 of the match ups so it seems odd to me how it's considered a 50:50 contest. Even with injury worries and the Jim McGuinness factor, Galway should win comfortably imo. We don't know how fit the Galway players are and Donegal are super fit and intense. Donegal are Ulster champions also and are battle hardened.

Hard to watch the other semi final when we are the bridesmaid and not the bride.

Donegal have joined us as the bridesmaid stage so!
Galway will want to push on and win this Final and not join their neighbours in the ranks of the Almost There.
On the managerial side, a 1998 & 2001 All Ireland winner takes on the winning captain of 2002.

Well done to Armagh & Galway. Hopefully Galway go and win it playing an open game.
Thank God Donegal didn’t make it. Hopefully we will have new rules to reinvent the game before Jim strangles it again.

You wouldn't really begrudge either team to be fair they both play as much football as anyone these days !

The Galway team for Sunday is pasted in below. Watching a few of their games over the summer and it is easy to envy the vein of form their defense, midfield and half forward line have found this year. Mcgrath, Glynn and McHugh have been flying, chipping in with points while keeping things secure at home. Paul Conroy is having the season of his life and Cillian Mcdaid has found an extra level again which is saying something given how well he was playing in 2022. Their bench has had an impact in tight matches, for example see Heaney and Culhane against Dublin in the quarter final. All of this while Walsh and Comer are half legged!
However, there are a few weaknesses there that Armagh will target. John Maher is playing some mighty football but I wouldn't like to see him having to cope with a high paced game. Robbie Finnerty can be hit or miss and it will be interesting to see how he goes on Sunday. And the keeper, Gleeson, has always been capable of lapses in concentration and/or weird decision making. The Ulster boys will be watching keenly to capitalise on these errors should they appear again.
Whether Comer and Walsh can find form on Sunday will have a big impact on where Sam spends winter in 2024.
Galway: Connor Gleeson; Johnny McGrath, Sean Fitzgerald, Jack Glynn; Dylan McHugh, Liam Silke, Seán Mulkerrin; Paul Conroy, Sean Kelly (c); Matthew Tierney, John Maher, Cillian McDaid; Rob Finnerty, Damien Comer, Shane Walsh.
Subs: Conor Flaherty, John Daly, Eoghan Kelly, Daniel O'Flaherty, Kieran Molloy, Cathal Sweeney, Céin Darcy, Johnny Heaney, Liam Ó Conghaile, Tomo Culhane, Niall Daly.

Poor return for us in terms of senior progression. Three lads on the fringes this year, is that it? Ruaidhri Ó Beaglaoich always looked a great bit of stuff to me, is he still around?.

When it comes to it, I know I will watch the final, but I sure as hell don't feel like it now.
The 2000s did spoil me I think.

Switched on Up for the Match once Olympics coverage ended, in fairness was enjoyable listening to Joe Kernan. But all I could think about was the craic we're missing this weekend not being involved. Hiding down in Kilflynn this weekend, I live very near Croke Park up there and the FOMO would have been unbearable today seeing all the jerseys milling around and hearing the crowd noises through the window

Well done to Armagh but the game of football is a shambles.
Armagh wont care but their victory over a poor Galway side relied on the luck that seems to have been with them all year. Hugh effort but a poor advertisement for the game.

Another day where Comer is nowhere to be seen. As for Shane Walsh have there been a more overhyped player in the last few years than him?

Is it time to bring Donaghy back to his native county?
A proven winner, fantastic motivator- time to say goodbye to Jack?

Fair play to Armagh. I thought we left our semifinal after us, but I don't know. If we had a second go at Armagh I'm not so sure we'd come out of it any better, Unfortunately.

We can hardly say much as we fumbled a game we had control of and couldn't make the final. Now is not the time to throw stones. Congratulations Armagh. The better team today but the game wasn't that great to watch as a neutral.

I enjoyed the second half but Jaysus, football is not the game it used to be.
Galway will be kicking themselves with wides and shots dropping short.
Soupy was definitely going for a point.
Armagh are a decent team.
Finnerty going off was a serious blow but other star players were anonymous.
Seagull was the star of the first half.

Prior to Walsh’s cameo in the final in ‘22, he had underperformed in the quarter final vs Armagh & semi final vs Derry - he was tremendous for 45 mins vs Kerry - in reality he has not done much since. When the fat was in the fire today he, unfortunately, for him failed to deliver.

Congrats to regular poster Ard Mhacha, enjoy the celebrations.
Armagh deserving champions, no argument.
Happy, obviously, for Kieran Donaghy as well. Massive commitment to be doing those miles up and down the country. We owe him a good number of our own All-Irelands as well.
Next few years are up for grabs it seems before we see another generational team emerge from somewhere.

Not sure if he'd be the Bainisteoir, I'd have Donaghy as a sector/coach. Whether thats under Jack or a different management team, only time can tell.

Considering our attack misfired, bringing Kieran home as a forwards coach wouldn't be the worst idea. Manager not yet.

We have to move on from the way we played this year - we have regressed since ‘22 - literally going backwards in the past two years. Players don’t seem to be enjoying themselves - it’s time for new blood on both sides of the line.

Division 2 football didn't do Armagh any harm. Focussing on avoiding relegation from Division 1 instead of building a squad seems futile.
