I hear what ye are saying and agree to an extent we should not be getting ahead of ourselves re all ireland. Dublin are still the best team out there by 5/6 points however we are coming off such a low base from the cork game that we needed to see us return to what we are best at heads up attacking football which we have in spades.
While focusing on dublin is natural first and foremost we need to see development in our own team and players. Which we have O'Connor, beaglaoich, Moynihan, foley and white have really kicked on, paudie Clifford has been a revelation and the likes of Mike Breen is a great addition. That is a fair amount of improvement for the squad ! We also have four games POTENTIALLY before we can meet the dubs , the big wins we posted will lead to teams being worried about playing us again at a minimum which is a great thing. Before we talk about playing dublin we have to earn the right to play them starting Saturday week vs Clare.

As far as I know Bernie Breen, former Kerry ladies footballer and 2014 All Star is Mike’s sister. Who told you this? It is definetly not true. He is no relation to Gary Breen either

Before we talk about playing dublin we have to earn the right to play them starting Saturday week vs Clare. This kind of annoys me. Yes that result was very disappointing but it should not be taken in isolation when looking at the progress made since PK took the job. It was a one-off game played in brutal conditions in November - if Seanie and Clifford hadn't BOTH had nightmares then we would have won with a bit to spare. You couldn't play the type of football we have seen this season in November and December and Kerry were trying to win a winter championship playing a different style suited to winter football. It would be like basing 2 seasons progress of a club team who had got beaten in a county final replay in Year 1, then after winning the Division 1 County League getting beaten by old rivals in their own backyard in the district championship during a storm in November

That style of football wasn't suited to any season. Nor winter, not summer. None. It was abysmal and not because of the weather. It was a gameplay that backfired. Hopefully never to be repeated

That's my point Excatly it was set up to beat dublin and we lost to cork ! What would dublin have done with us beat us by 10-15 humiliating us by keeping the ball for 20 mins !

He is no relation to Gary Breen either Heard it on a Sunday Sports interview on Radio Kerry before the Kerry Ladies semi-final against Cork in 2015. Gary O’Sullivan interviewed Bernie Breen and Emma Sherwood. Gary said that they are sisters of Mike Breen and Jason Sherwood. Can’t recall Bernie correcting him.

Mike Breen midfield for Kerry minors in 2016, so he would be 23. Seven of that team now on senior panel Mike, Graham, Dara, Seanie, Diarmuid, DC and Shaw.

If you add in Stefan he would probably be on the senior panel too. Dan O Brien and Mike Potts may yet make it too (Potts has played senior for Kerry hasn't he?). A serious return from one minor team - albeit Clifford and Diarmuid were minor again the following year.

I am currently having a re-read of Dún Síon to Croker and what with Covid and the soccer - w0w, poles apart. The stuff MOM fleshes out of life is awesome - looks like he was near enough the cause of the setting up of Gaelscoils, etc, watching out for the wisdom in his stories is a job in itself, an taobh eile, etc, the two ends of a thunderin hoor as auld John B would and then there be, ah well an taobh eile, I read it previously and must have skimmed over things.
MOM's encyclopaedic recollection of the finer detail is astounding, down to justifying how he had a mind change on his adjudication of the all time greatest hurlers, etc. Ah maybe I'm maturin myself and getting more out of him, he personifies that the best things in life, the quality of life, are free and simple - what is further amazing is how trusted he was but with all the rameís today, I doubt if that would be possible today and which is so so sad.
The beauty of the book is that each, though unlabeled, chapter addresses a facet of his life, so one on his days with Kerry football, a proud family man - it would be interesting if he were to decide between the small and big ball code, I'd sensed the smaller wan might prevail and which is interesting for a child of Corca Dhuibhne, his respect in that cauldron is truly legendary, maybe that if is/was often referred to as the poor relation of the bigger ball might be a factor, more puritan. His book gives a great insight to Dwyer - how many knew Micko and a few more were forced into retirement from county duty aside until a challenge game was then arranged between the oldies and the newies and which resulted in, well the oldies coming back and did some with 3 more Celtic crosses. You'd wonder who arranged the challenge match? Deadly!

Who of the panel didn't come through the minor pipeline - Paul Murphy was deemed too small, was Paudie Clifford a late developer or what - maybe his club's success and a leg yup from the broth were factors?

Paul never a minor, but made under 21 under EF in 2012. Paudie never considered for minors or under 21s, likewise Kieran Fitzgibbon.

To behonest I wouldn't have seen much of Mike Breen before this year. I came across a promotion he recently did and I was very impressed with how strong he looks. He looks incredibly strong and could be the perfect fit for our backs.

Mike Breen has been very prominent for Beaufort, Mid Kerry, UCD and under age Kerry Teams. He's strong and very good on the ball. The only question mark is if he has the pace for this level. So far he's looked at home.

Kerry GAA should have been doing everything in their power to retain the Junior competition and expand it, especially with the change from U21 to U20 - instead they voted for a new structure for the competition making it a Kilkenny plus British teams competition.

Junior should be revived, with weaker counties allowed put in their First teams.
