People rightly pointing out Kerrys missed oppprtunites from both games. But Looking at the two games from a Dublin perspective there was huge moments missed by Dublin also .
Dublin were ahead by 3 points early in first half when Con hit a shot straight at the goalkeeper which could of put us 6 points up. We were 5 points up edging towards half time after surviving some Kerry goal chances and looked like we were easing back into control ,when the sending off changed the game. We then went back to 5 points up in second half and should have went 6 points up only for Paddy small shot to drop short and only then a dropped ball by Davy Byrne allowed Tommy Walsh feed Killian Spillane for a well taken goal. Then with the extra Forward Kerry had momentum and for possibly 10 to 15 minutes in that game they squeezed Dublin and if David Moran had of looked up and seen Tommy Walsh only been marked by Cluxton when you were one point up then i feel you could of won the game. But that was the only time the game was there for you in my opinion. Kerry went for it and played with Bravery , but then in the last 10 minutes we controlled possesion and hit a lot of wides and even then you had no shots what so ever even with 15 men.
Second game At the start of second half Murchin scores a goal in a move that we have done many times before but never reaped the rewards of a goal, although we have got points from . Then Con scores a point , next Scully blazes over what should have been a goal had this went in game was over , it was nearly same as start against Mayo in semifinal. Again Kerry got it back to a point , but Dublin stepped it up and went out to 5 points again . At the end Connolly should of passed to Con for a certain goal , Kerry i felt never looked like winning this game .
Kerry young lads stood up and i was hugely impressed by a good few of them . There is absolutely no doubt there is the potential for Kerry to dominate in the future with this crop. Even possibly starting next year. But the proof of the pudding will be when they play the likes of Tyrone ,Donegal , Mayo . Kerry will now have a bit of a bullseye on their back next year , they wont be coming in under the radar. The league should be interesting next year.

Based in the above, I guess we should be grateful not to have been hammered.

Once Murchan's goal went in we were chasing the game, and didnt have the physical strenghth, so missed 13 of our shots from play in second half. Is that down to tiredness or experience or what? We were outmuscled. You have one of the most professional setups in any sport, it is a big task to match that, but WE WILL.

There is almost a desperation now to encourage Kerry. They desperately need some team to provide opposition to keep the status quo. In its own way its sort of fascinating.

Has anyone done an analysis of the extra time periods at the end of both games? Seven minutes in the drawn game and Five minutes in the replay.

We still need backs to win one I think . Hard to see past Dublin again next year. Cork will give us enough of it in Munster. They are getting better.
We could use another Midfielder also.
I think we need find 3 or 4 players next year to have a chance of going all the way.

Getting a lot of "HA HA! What are you going to do in Kerry now that you couldn't stop the 5-in-a-row?".
Me: "I don't know, we'll just have to make do with having the most beautiful mountains, lakes and beaches in the country to keep us preoccupied!"

Or the Zen for Ten, Michael Clifford in the Examiner. Speaking of ten, I see (Indo interview with James McCarthy today) where Cluxton is staying on. James recounts his chat with Cluxton this week - "Macker, I played 10 years and we lost every year. It was crushing. And then all you guys come along and we start winning. Why would I want to leave that." We need to get working on our Cluxton press for 2020.....

Given that Dublin has 1/3 or whatever of the population and that Cluxton has been in possession for nearly 20 years, how many goalkeepers are there in the capital that have never got a sniff of a county jersey?

When we do finally beat them we want Stephen on the team . We won’t be wanting to hear any excuses A week later still can’t accept why we didn’t do ourselves justice we are way better than that and our lads know it. If we got we’ll beaten it would be a lot easier to take But some more composure in front of goal and it’s a different game . This is a reoccurring theme teams often over focus on fitness and systems and out foxing the Dubs how about start with Working on you scoring and game in front of goals Most fashionable coaching sets ups now don’t seems to work on shooting comprehensively only giving it token amount of time More or less saying you can either score or you can’t It’s not sexy to work on scoring this is throughput all clubs Ironically a defender scored the most important goal for Dublin and our full back nearly got one for us Emphasize ing the importance of all players from 1 to 15 needing to work at lest one hour per week on scoring and scoring patterns and drills and set plays

Dublin employ this tactic of a player running between their player, who is on the ball, an the opposing teams defending player. When this happens, the Dublin player on the ball takes the opportunity to steal a meter or two of space from the defender so as to get of his shot or otherwise play the ball. Is this a foul?

It’s a block , a moving screen call it what you want It obstruction surely there’s a rule for that ? All teams doing it now including Kerry Came from Basketball but Dublin do it better than most and have a lot of work put into it. If you want to support your ball carrier or shooter instead of just running off the shoulder just run in front of the defender who is chasing the shooter Or when you make a pass don’t just stand there go block the receivers marker and make it look non intentional. I’m sure there’s more to it but it’s becoming common now .

Hi All, I am a English based Kerry follower, following since 70s due to moms family the Barry’s from Tralee (bakery). Watching the final with family and friends, it was asked where is Dublin’s home set up. I told them that Dublin played at Croke Park, where the semi and final is played. They could not believe this was true, due to big advantages this gives players and fans. I got into a minor spat with Dubliners who said I was only bitter. I replied I was disappointed of course but only pointing out the unfair Home advantage you have had over the years particularly over Mayo and Tyrone. I understand Kerry have had considerable success resulting a lot of Croke Park experience, however it still an away game. Anybody playing Dublin at huge disadvantage from the off. It took the Dubz 17. Secs to score, they great side for sure but they helped hugely from familiarity of Croke Park. Particularly debutants and younger players. The fans have it EASY. The 5 was understandably shoved down my throat. I pointed out Kerry have won two 4 in arows, missing the 5 by 5 minutes. That’s 9 semi finals and 9 finals all played away from HOME. They said it wouldn’t matter they beat Kerry anywhere. I think a final played in Killarney be different ball game altogether. I accept Dublin great side but helped considerably by Croke Park familiarity. Do you agree ? Read more: kerrygaa.proboards.com/conversation/95578?page=1#ixzz60MoplMLr

I’m sure there’s more to it but it’s becoming common now . Like so many GAA rules, the wording is vital. For what I've seen the way refs are implementing this rule is that, if a player sets a screen i.e stops and stands his ground they won't give a black card. I'd imagine the feeling is that a black card is too harsh a punishment for simply standing in place/blocking off an opponent's run. I think a rule needs to be brought in that if a player deliberately obstructs another player off-the-ball it's a free. This would at least allow refs to penalise the blatantly obvious screens. Otherwise you're going to see a situation where as time goes by teams will get better and better at using screens like this to create easy low-skill shooting opportunities.

I’m not sure if we need a new rule for this Not sure if we need a black card for this either Just if referees could recognize this is happening and give the free If it’s a repeat fouling situation then a yellow I think refs are not calling it because they are not seeing it
