I think MFR was put off by the goalie leaning against the post for the penalty. He should have just rolled it into the bottom right corner. Tommy Griffin deserves another chance. He was up against very big men against Longford so wasn't going to do much in the air but it'll be a different story against McGeeney. I was delighted for him when he got his point. It was also great to win both throw-ins. They haven't done that in a while. Poor enough discipline by Darragh and Gooch who could have been sent off and may possibly still get suspensions. Darragh isn't going to change at this stage so we're just going to have to rely on his luck with referees continuing. Tommy Lyons was right saying that Donaghy's performance has only papered over the cracks. What we're really missing is the Tomás Ó Sé of 2004. If he's back, Kerry are back. Was it him that did the brilliant shoulder against Cork in the replay? It was inspirational stuff and we need a lot more of it.

Ideal game in my book. We won with some useful discoveries and rediscoveries in the forward line. The back line played OK against Cork and can't rest on their laurels after a bad performance against Longford.
On another note I will be shouting for Longford next year (after Kerry) they have a damn good team with fantastic support.

Hey lads,
Come on lads, keep the chin up-you all sound as though you were badly beaten by Longford the way you are going on this forum. Lighten up a bit.
Did not see the game at all over here-was out of the city Saturday. Anyhow, glad to find out that Kerry won. From reading the posts in here, it sounds like there is a huge improvement in the forwards and that's what we wanted. Great to hear that MFR played well also. Cooper and Brosnan seems to have connected well too and good for them. Glad to hear that Brosnan got some goals as well. He is very capable and hope that he keeps up the form now on the 40. Glad Donaghy played well in FF. I'm sure we will turn it on from now on. Have more confidence than most of you lads on here! We know Armagh is tough but thats a good Kerry team you have there.
Hopefully will see the game on Saturday next.
Love to see Marc move forward to that half-back line! He has too much football in him. May happen some day.
Good luck from here.

yeah sure, he can jump ten feet in the air and catch a ball. but his distribution of it and scoring ability (or lack thereof) means he cannot be a candidate for FF, in my opinion. Still think this KerryDoc?! humble pie. large helping thereof. delighted to have been proved wrong in such a great fashion ;D ;D

Well after all the talk over the last few weeks I'll start on the positives.
GOALS! Finally we've figured out how to rattle the net in the championship & all goals were well taken. Only for the peno save and the great save from Brosnan in the 1st half it could have been 6.
Donaghy - having criticised a number of his performances earlier in the year I was delighted he proved his critics wrong on Saturday. Everything went right for him on the day and he should be full of confidence ahead of Armagh.
Gooch & MFR - the buzz was back with the two boys the last day, good runs and some good scores.
Brosnan - the goals were well taken, the runs well timed. Just hope its the kick start he needs for the rest of the year.
Having said all that it'd be foolish not to focus on some problem areas. The backs collectively had an off-day and I just hope this was a one off. All but Marc could not have been happy with their displays.
The space afforded to the forwards on Saturday wont be there next Saturday. There will be somebody there to block Brosnans runs and Donaghy will no doubt get a lot of "stick" from the Armagh backs.
The handling and short handpassing was very poor at times on Saturday. We cant afford to give possesion away next week, Armagh wont waste much of it.
Tom Se's reaction to being subbed was very disappointing to say the least. Now I know a guy doesnt like to be taken off but he should have taken it on the chin and returned to the dugout. The way to react to that is to play so well the next day that you cant be taken off.
On another note, I thought the ref was very poor on Saturday, and is just a symptom of the standard of refereeing at the moment.
Fair play to the Longford crowd showing up in such numbers. There was a novel kind of excitment around Killarney that I havnt seen before. Also good to see the Kerry public get behind the team, although I thought Declan would get a bit more applause when he came on after what happened in Cork.

I imagine he would have got a better reception had he not been brought on when a change in that position was not required at that time

I don't know if the supporters deserve praise for booing Declan O'Sullivan when he came on. It doesn't matter if you agreed or disagreed with the substitution he should still have got a rousing reception when he came on. Two games in a row that he's been treated disgracefully by so called "kerry supporters". These "fans" should be banned from ever again attending Kerry games. To boo a player who sacrifices so much from his life for free because of his love of the Kerry jersey is a new low for Kerry supporters. I'd have preferred to have had only 100 supporters there who gave every member of the Kerry team the support they deserve rather than 18,000 with people booing their own players. Some might say they were booing the decision to substitute Darren O'Sullivan rather than actually boo Declan O'Sullivan but it's all the same to Declan O'Sullivan's ears.

Didn't really hear a boo Jo to be honest. I thought it was more a rumble of everyone present expressing shock at the change and saying it to one another pretty simultaneously

Dont remember any booing. I did hear a silence, and that as they say, was deafening

I tried cheering Declan coming on, but was the only people within earshot doing it. To add to it there were Kerry fans near me clapping when he missed that point. You could see a lack of confidence in his shooting that wasn't there before.
Am I the only one that is dissappointed to see one of our finest forwards who runs himself into the ground every game unable to take a point from 20 yards out. Wake up and smell the coffee Kerry "supporters". We won't beat Armagh without the likes of Declan on form.

hear heaer Kerryman. He should be encouraged to get back to his best form, not booed and jeered and ripped to shreds by his county men. I remember Kerry being appalled when Mick O'Conell was booed by the Cork fans in teh 70's, and now here we are booing one of our own. the man gives an awful lot to the green and gold. lets show some appreciation and respect for that.

agree we need declan in top form, but i feel this should be in a role as a scoring attacking corner forward or wing forward.this should have been pointed out to declan by now, even kerry senior county footballers need to be coached.
