:oAwesome dudes, devastating stuff, congrats on smashing the hoodoo & lighting up Croker in glorious firework colour. Commiserations Big Mac, I dont think Armagh could have done any better, brilliant first half, and usually step it up 2nd half. The best game I've seen in many years, better than the 2002 final, better even than the drawn & replayed semi-final in 2000. Only down point was the fairly small attendance - this deserved 80,000. Shame on the GAA for putting it on at 2oc as well! Donaghy, what a find. And the goal was fantastic, a stunning declaration of war, like Mugsy last year against us The OSheas, O'Sullivans (too many to count), Moynihan, O'Mahoney, all savage. Cooper getting better. MFR hitting wides, but palying well, he will ahve a big game yet. Will be another epic V Cork, the Rebels will not lie down this time, what a prospect

I'd say he's retired after watching that performance today - why bother carrying on? I understand your sentiments Brian, but I think Mayo at the very least will have something to say about it! I really wish we were in the final now, to test ourselves against the best, we owe it to ourselves, but that makes the quarter & semi-fianl stakes & risks all the higher! I wish we were playing Galway........... Enjoy the celebrations, we can all dream of the 3rd Sunday in September (traditional date!). We've hit the crossbar twice, will it be third time lucky? I envy yis today...

Congratulations on winning the All Ireland to-day lads. Devastating stuff. For a mere Corkman it was a privilege to be in Croker to-day. First the John The Babtist performance, beating Armagh by almost half as much as ye'll obviously expect to beat us by. Then the real miracle. Kerry men and women routinely mastering a word with three syllables. I wasn't sure I heard it right first, but all those around me confirmed it. Despite the Kerry accent it was clear as the lark. "Don-e-gal, Don-e-gal, Don-e-gal"...And there we were thinking we were ye're plaything of choice.

That was a very poor effort at starting the ball rolling.
The awl Dubs were takinn by it but in the heart of enemy territory I will be expecting better before the throw in in 2 weeks time.

I have been waiting for this performance for a long time, they finally played beyond critics, pundits and those of us who were there in 1982 at CP...... in 2004 I was there for the weekend to see them beat Mayo - thank you John Sheehan ..... and I can't wait to get the feck out of this useless Country to go home to a real game and real people...... don't ever come here i.e. the USA....
Jaysus I wish I was back home in Kerry
Well done lads ... well done Darren....

I think we have the makings of a really good vehicle, and a really good driver, but that's all so far, still un-roadtested in the great rallies on the most unforgiveable of roads. I can say it now, may not have another chance this summer, I love Kerry people, shower of cute, deceiving, soft-talking, merciless & unsentimental b*stards! But love & live life the way it should be done, and the best sense of mischief going. I like mischief, it's my best friend ;D I bring every foreign visitor I know to Slea Head or Ballinskelligs.....even Southsiders! One of my best ever memories is Hayes Hotel in Thurles, August 2001. "Wouldnt it be great if it could be like this all the time?" The 70s are for the archives, the players & fans of today are making their own history, and I hope it will be as great for us as it has been for yous I think this team can compete, and do us proud, that's all I ask I'll leave you with this - After we've won our soft All-Ireland, I really hope we get to beat Tyrone in 2007 on our way to the two-in-a-row! ;D C'mon de rebels!

A devestating Performance!!!!!! Post by ciarrai4sam on Today at 19:22
Phew! What a devestating performance huh lads and lassies!!! We well and truly kicked ass! And it was one of the sweetest victories that we have achieved over the past decade or so. I must credit Armagh for their positive-football performance. Both teams did the GAA credit today. It would have made a great Final not a mind a quarter final. Since we are in the Semi berth facing nemesis Cork - I cant wait to wipe the smug smile off of those corconians......... Bring it on and Bring on the All Ireland Glamour Final of Dublin v Kerry or Laois v Kerry..... Preference for the first of course...... No chance of a ticket though Kerry to go out with a huge BANG!!!! Jack and Lads must all have huge smiles on their faces tonight - Kerry Fans (me included), GAA commentators and Reporters have been truly given their answer in emphatic fashion!!!! Devestating! Classy! Prolific! Ruthless!

Re: A devestating Performance!!!!!! Post by bmackerry on Today at 20:03
A small bit more humility and realism will be required to overcome Cork.
BUT!!!
Advantage us when Cork lost Graham Canty.
He walks on to any gaelic Football team in the world.
The fact that Cork have had a competitive game in Croke Park for a change before they meet us will tell them alot about themselves.
I cannot look beyond Kerry they were devastating today.
My one BUT would be how good were Armagh???
This was a serious question before the quarter final.
Bear it in mind!!!
I can say no more from inside enemy lines.
FOR NOW!!!!!!

just back from a week in killarney which is a great place by the way and as a tyrone man just wanted to say thanks very much for putting armagh out! kerry were going to dish out this sort of defeat to either us or armagh sooner or later and i am glad it was armagh who were on the receiving end! thought dara o'se gave an exhibition at midfield while the forwards worked their socks off up front - although the gooch is still not firing on all cylinders! anyway well done kerry on a great performance!

Stunning, and with Cooper & MFR still to really click, it's scarey. The two best teams in the country served up a wonderful game yet again, that's 3 times, and this was the best of all, cant remeber last time I saw such a game. 3 of the goals were contenders for scores of the season, but if anything were surpassed by some of the points from both sides. Well done to all for lighting up Croker in firework colours, and re-igniting Gah football and the GAA during a year of non-stop crisis. This is still the finest football game in the world, and puts all professionals to shame.

I would just like to offer my congratulations to the Kerry team and supporters on your win today. Although I am terribly disappointed for my team, I wish you well in the remainder of the championship. It was a very enjoyable game (despite being on the losing side!), and both sides managed to prove the critics wrong. It was the game of the championship so far. Enjoy your celebrations, and good luck!

Just in from watching the revival (out here in New York)-thanks boys. It is so sweet for many reasons. This is not hindsight, this is what I witnessed on and commented on during the match. In the first half the ball was not played well enough to Donaghy until just before the break and then Kerry scored two valuable points. When MFR missed again with about 7 minutes remaining in the first half, I thought we should bring on Bryan Sheehan, to wet him a bit before halftime and for the obvious-frees!!!! We were giving away scoreable frees, MFR from close range and 45m(2nd half) and Sean O'Sullivan from 40m out of the hands-costly misses. In a game of such tension and physical prowess, frees may of been the difference. Also, Bellew draws a yellow due to Donaghy starting to win possession because finally, proper ball going into Donaghy and the latter is also tormenting the fullback. Nice to see a reversal of the minds games going in our favor at last. We go in with momentum at the break. On to the 2nd half, great display by Kerry. Bursting from the gates with two great points. Then Donaghy score a fabulous goal, the individual effort and skill that he showed was awesome-"The Bomber Returns". We are playing well but MFR is faltering and Paul Galvin is carrying a yellow. I suggest we double substitute B.Sheehan and Darren O'Sullivan for MFR and Galvin. Again for the obvious-frees!!! Darren goes in for Sean O'Sullivan (best game yet for county) and this move had me pondering, was Sean O' injured? Well Armagh tactics get Paul Galvin to react and get sent off, boy must chill a bit but in the heat of battle, you can understand his volatility. Armagh come back, as they always do. But this day, Kerry do not cave in to their Northern opponents. Instead they weather the storm and all of a sudden a new Kerry is evident. We are here, we intend to win and Carpe Diem (Seize the day-Latin) mentality is in the Kerry Camp. Sheehan finally comes in and hits a massive free from about 55m and we are up by 3 again, huge impact this score! Then Darren pounces for a coffin sealing goal. Declan kicks a fine point, hope it does him good, (we were up by six when he scored). He has been off his game for a long time now. Darragh,Griffin, Seamus, Marc and Tomas, Aidan, Tom and Mike Mac all did what had to be done. The Longford forwards and their speed game did the Kerry backs a great favor. They tightened up today, Mac gave away two bad frees but overall they were superb as a unit. Early short kick out by Murphy helped Kerry even though it gave Armagh a point. Because it did not happen in the later stages of the match, we learned from that error early! Brosnan had the ball played thru him most of the day but picked up a good bit of loose ball at crucial stages. Eamon Fitz added a fine score. Hope Cork win their semi, we know what to expect. Donegal are the unknown factor. And as for Mr. Cooper, he is our diamond. His presence is invaluable and when you see the score sheet, he will not be credited with many individual scores but that is what makes him such a great player. Now do not be surprised if he lights up the score board in the semi. Dara O'Shea-what can you say about this man-thank you is what comes to my mind!!!! This Armagh team might of deserved a second Sam Maguire, they have been resilient since 99'. But now I praise our boys, they are around since 96' (some of them). They take ridiculous criticism from their own. But, that is because Kerry as a people do not take well to mediocrity on a football pitch. Now we have a multi-dimensional attack!!!High ball to full forward, wing running, tearing up the middle-Kerry football! Our fans are pleased, our honor is (partially) restored and we have a football team to be extremely proud of!!! This is all that I can muster now, I must rest a bit. I am delighted to hear about the drill prior to the match. At the final last September, Kerry were in la-la land having a quaint kick about. Meanwhile Tyrone ran the tightest drill that I have ever witnessed in Gaelic Football, especially pre match on All Ireland Final Day.. The goal Donaghy got today will be immortalized. It was a goal that captured all that is great in football, winning possession, eluding your marker and scoring a vital goal. Oh the sweetness of it all................Brolly! If someone at home can send me audio/print of his (Brolly) comments pre and post match I would enjoy that immensely. Did not get the opportunity to hear him today, too much noise at the club, Kerry fans roaring and 30 other counties weeping, except a few Dubs that I know. I will see the match again on Setanta Monday but they have their own feed. I respect those Dubs ya know!!!!!!!!! AH, Cork in two weeks. Today Ciarrai scored, 2-10 to 0-6 in 2nd half. That kind of intensity is a pleasure to see. Now, we must shut the doors at training, keep the lips sealed and go back to Croker on August 20th with one purpose. Stay focused, raise the intensity even higher, use players #16 to #20 properly, at the right time and we will be Cork!!! More on today, Brosnans goal was a marker for the team, it showed a toughness and determination that the media said was not in the camp. As early as it was, it was crucial and gave the boys a confident aire, especially since it followed Armaghs earlier two points.. Kerry, what a display. Armagh thanks for the last nine years, ye may have deserved another Sam but things are not given away on media statements alone. Kerry gave one of the best performances seen in Croke Park in quite a while. Considering all the media hype, player criticism, in-house problems etc. As one of the players stated this week, in-house rows are not rare or always unhealthy. Obviously this Kerry panel and management have survived the strife and are now on course. Various attacking styles, this so called one dimensional team are actually a dynamo still evolving, they have the players to enact joga bonita to a maximum. Who ever can beat them will have to play at another level. Kerry have a vast portfolio of titles and intend to add to their haul. Go on you good thing! No sleep for two weeks I think. God help poor Eileen and Maeve!!!!!!!!!! Ciarrai Abu-thank you to the team and management!!!!!

Incredible performance. Keep it going. Some goal by Star. Darragh... Marc.... Tomas all outstanding. Eight point win, nine if you include the square ball!!!! That was hte best Kerry performance since the Kildare, Galway, Cork run in '02. Bring on the rebels. Two previous semis 15pt and 13pt wins. Any bets on the 20th?
Lets not get too carried away though. We need to repeat that display a couple of more times and Sam will surely be coming home again.

Well Lads What a day!!!! Kerrys second half performance was as good as it gets. Once Donaghy started getting a strangle hold there was no looking back. Dara, Mark, Tomas, Brosnan, Moynihan all stood up when it counted. Only low point was Mike Frank, not at the races. Sheehan great free taker but the jury is still out there. We'll be hard to stop now. I can only really see the Dubs mounting any serious challenge. Cork were lucky yesterday, Canty huge loss. Bring it on. Ciarrai abu

I htink my pulse has just dropped back down to normal. Fantastic performance all round. Very hard to find fault and I won't even try. (Although I did think subbing Sean Fly was a strange move). My guess is that 13 Kerry fellahs scored yesterday. Delighted for Declan yesterday who one a free within scoring range and kicked a wonderful point. We all know how good he can be and he'll be at his best again soon no doubt.
Brosnan was immense yesterday all over the pitch and at this rate will need to clear space on the shelf for an all star award.
Sad to see a great Armagh team run out of steam yesterday. I hope they can regroup and return to form next year. The championship needs great teams like them.
Turning point of the match: Francie Bellew getting the yellow card really took the edge off his game and boosted Stars confidence.
Well done Kerry. Well done Jack. Delighted for the subs in particular. Each one

Its the small things that matter........ in the the 48th minute Seamus misdirected a footpass and Armagh began an atatck at midfield....... out of nowhere comes Paul Galvin to tackle and break the ball to a Kerry player who passes in to Sean o Sullivan....... Sean looks up and kicks it into the square where Donaghy fetches and bangs it to the net......... seconds after Galvins intercept Kerry are on the high road.......
Near the end Brosnan shadows and harries an Armagh player into spilling the ball out for a wide.......
These little things are vital and are ofter overlooked.......

Mick Mack, you are correct. "These things" that you mention usually are not mentioned (or go unnoticed) in post game media , be it tv, radio or the papers. But "these things" are what make the difference in winning and losing a match. The desire that drive a team usually is the difference if all else is equal. ;D

Well twohands, you say that there were Kerry fans cheering for Donegal yesterday.....what about the fellows I saw in front of me on the walk to Croker yesterday, proudly wearing their Cork jerseys and with the Armagh colours wrapped around EACH WRIST!?
Not only did it make for a ghastly colour-clash, it was also beyond childish. Just plain silly.

Absolutuly wonderful performance...
My concerns beforehand were the apparent lack of hunger, teamwork, form and the performance of Kieran Donaghy.....but boy were my concerns squashed....
The fitness of the team was unreal especially considering the heat there on Saturday. There were no signs of tiredness and the workrate throughout was just great. Ive heard that Armagh were the fittest team around but that wasnt the case the last day. The amount of ball that Kerry took off Armagh from hounding was huge..
Daragh O Shea was just immense. Donaghy caused havoc and his goal was the turning point. It spurred Kerry on to greater things and there was no stopping them in that mode.
This team is well set up now for another All Ireland.
All the subs introduced did really well..It was hard to find faults anywhere from anybody...there was some indiscipline, poor kicking and freetaking from just about one forward. I wonder will Brian Sheehan be in the next day...His frees alone are soo important...but who would make way..
Thats for another day...
Right now its time to bask in the performance and appreciate the efforts of the team and management.. before beginning to look at Cork and plan to take them down.
Lots done....and looking great. Hopefully this team will deliver on its promise right now...

Hey Lads,
Congratulations to a fantastic Kerry Team. What a wonderful display of fitness, class, stamina, heart and more heart, guts, teamwork, blood sweat and tears, told you stupid media so, and a lot more.
I was fairly confident in them and yes now even more lads.
So happy for Donaghy what a beauty of a goal.
Mr.Darren O'Sullivan you made us all proud have been an admirer of yours for a long time and you got a vital goal for a small man.
What about Marc O'Shea lads? This man has so much stamina it's not funny. He came all the way up and got two beautiful points from the full-back line. This is the stuff that wins big games. And what about Daragh his brother-like an ancient celtic warrier out there-a true leader.
The journalists can put that one in their pipe and smoke it!
Kerry to win the All-Ireland now-can't see what's left beating them. They're on a roll.
best of luck from Toronto.
