The Brendans will be short a few key personal for tomorrow night ! Their missing their two wing backs Mike Moloney and Daniel Doyle with injury, aswell as Goalie Dermot Dineen, who is away on holidays ! To cap it, Pat Driscolls had to go to America on personal business ! They will really be up against it without these fellas ! It also worries me that they have a lot of fellas on the team who are pushing on ! For a division that has been producing fairly useful Minor and U21 teams in the last couple of years, they have around 5 or 6 lads on the team who are gone 30 !
It will be very interesting to see how they cope at midfield, and what they do to counteract the very strong Stacks pairing ! If they can get any foothold at all at midfield then they have a chance, as they're forwards are very good and Stacks defence is'nt too hectic ! However they have very little quality options at midfield !
This one will go right down to the wire ! The Brendans have a great tradition against Stacks in the county championship, and have beaten them in all the four or five occasions that they met ! However the most of these meetings were in the 1950's and 60's when the Brendans were very strong and Stacks were struggling ! With home advantage and the fact that motivation wont be a problem, The Brendans can shade it ! But they will have to get something out of midfield !
I gave my predictions for the other games earlier on in the thread and I'm sticking by them ! Hopefully we will have weekend of good and entertaining football ! With the fair we have been subjected to on the inter county scene of late, it is badly needed !

Rathmore to spring a surprise Stacks by 5 or 6. Too many big guns for Brendans to cope with Ghaeltacht - but here a tip...the match to not finish 15-a-side! Kierans - very strong now with Desmonds involved Crokes - but it will be a lot closer than people think Legion South

Big win for KOR after a bruiser with Rathmore. And what about the hammering the rockies copped to St Brendans?

Brendans beat them well, Stacks were reduced to a rabble, would have fancied the brendans even if star wasnt sent off. Will he now miss the munster final?

Depends what it is for. I know there was a rule bought in which meant if you sent off for club you dont miss county games and vice vearsa How did kirby go , he will be man to replace star if need be

Yea I agree 14 Brendans would still have won even if Star was not sent off. They were up 6 points at the time of the sending off anyway and could have been up 12 if they got the 2 goals they missed. 3-11 scored with 3-10 from play!!! Serious scoring. Conor Daly and Wallace were awesome up front. John Dowling gave as good as he got against Star in the middle of the field and James Costello and Keran Shea were unreal at the back. Some of the hits in the first half were big but a more physical Brendans won most of them! Star's act was one of madness!!!! Right in front of the ref. Kirby played in fits and starts.

The problem for stacks was their 7 man selection panel. They left sean power on daly for too long instead of switching him with a faster player which inevitably cost them the game as power got burnt by daly for both of the the goals in the opening half. Star was unlucky but he should have known that Lyons as the ref would not hesitate in sending him off

Where did dingle come from to get a draw with gaeltacht fair play to them. Good win for mid kerry they could cause hassle yet if they get all players available playing

Boris---------I dont think Dingle have improved so much that they can close the gap that was between these two teams last year,if anything Gaeltacht are better now!

was at the dr.crokes kenmare game yesterday. a very one sided affair to say the least. cooper was excellent in a roaming role for the crokes. he fed excellent ball into leary and looney inside who had the beating of their men. besides cooper i though the most outstanding player on the pitch was flor o'sullivan. he gave an exhibition of fielding and kicked 2 points from play. surely jacko, who i saw at the game, will give him his chance. anyone else concur that was at the game??

whta actually happened for star's sending off, striking a player?a lot of tight games KOR Rath,st kierans n mid kerry, only a point difference in both games.Am i right in sayin that st kierans who were 2 points down got a penalty, the last kick of d games,n yer man blazed it over d bar for a point. From the reports ive heard d desmonds boys were very poor n very disinterested.the only way to get this divisdional side goin again is perhaps ousting the desmons from d setup

Gaadevottee I was at the crokes kenmare game also. I agree with what you said. Cooper was the best man on the field but Flor Sullivan was the second best. Kenmare cleaned out Crokes at midfield all through in large part due to O'Sullivan Gooch at centre forward was a revelation his passing was unreal. His used his left foot like a sand wedge! i always maintain he could do a job there for kerry for say 15 20 mins in a game as he can really unlock defences. the problem for kerry is there would be no one inside to finish off the ball he would send in.

yeah watchthehop his passing was frightening alright. there is no way you can stop that skill! the one worry crokes should have is midfield as they were well and truly destroyed there. eoin brosnan had to be drafted out but still made little impact on the way o'sullivan was playing. he was a joy to watch and i remember he plucked one ball from the sky towards the end when kenmare were well down and got an ovation from both sets of fans which was nice to see. kenmare didnt show up. other than o'sullivan, only shane cremin and james healy gave performances of any note.

Crokes and South Kerry are certainly the form teams and will take some stopping. The Brendans beating Stacks was certainly the shock of the round although i have given ASABU a bit of slagging about their poor form this year. Any match report ASABU? Kierans kicked it away by all accounts and will see this as a serious chance spurned.

Donaghy was put off for striking and deserved to go ! He hit Kieran O Shea, right in front of the ref and linesman ! Terrible stupid thing to do ! With this type of a short fuse, he could cost Kerry dearly at some stage in the future ! I say myself that Donaghy just did'nt want to be there ! John Dowling was getting the better of him at midfield and he was obviously very frustrated ! Fair play to Peter Lyons for not bottling it ! Pity he was'nt reffing the game (I mean WWF) on Thursday night ! Even if Donaghy had stayed on I still think Brendans would have won, as the Rock just could'nt cope with their forwards !
The Brendans are fairly useful alright, and it just shows what a bit of preparation can do ! They were on top in nearly all sectors and their sideline won the tactical battle hands down ! They still have a number of players to come back into the panel, and they will get better ! But they would'nt want to get too carried away, as the Rock were very poor ! If they can avoid South Kerry in the quaters, then they have every chance of progressing aganist any of the other sides, and that includes the big club outfits ! Strand Road would be the ideal draw ! Hopefully they will run of the quaters over the summer, as a big delay would seriously affect them, along with the other divisional sides !
Any one know when the draw fo the quaters are been made ?

Donaghy often gets involved in stuff he shouldnt and its no surprise he was sent off. Will he miss the munster final now does anybody know for sure?

Sendings off's in club games does'nt effect inter county participation any more ! This is why there is no hype about it on the radio or papers ! This ruling was brought in, in the wake of a few high profile incidents in recent years, (like the aforementioned in 2002) !

I was away for the weekend Seamus so only got the bare smatterings from home, the big story of course being Star clocking the fella and getting the straight red. We didn't deserve to win by all accounts, and judging on our form in both league and championship to date, we didn't deserve to go any further. Serious questions to be asked about Dinny Longs approach this year......

Was at the kierans game.
beggars belief how they lost it as scanlon & ej o donoughe cleaned midfield.
the desmonds players up front o connell, kieran and john brennan when introduced and particulary darby buckley were a joke. as tony considine said today in the examiner when describing the limerick hurlers yesterday 'a gutless performance by them'.
John buckley had a fine game and to a lesser extent jack dennehy and tom o connor in the 1st half.
Mid Kerry are no world beaters though and will hope to avoid crokes or south ky in the next round

The quarter finals and finals are easily playable over the summer. Why not play the quarter finals the sunday after the Cork game? Unfair on all players other wise. Its not right to have no championship game all summer and then have fellows out every sunday from november to january
South Kerry are still the team to beat.

Nice to see buckley havin a good run especially after the bad injury he got a few years back.suprise he didnt take the last minute penalty though.
