Corn Uí Mhuirí (18.5 A F) S/Final Draw St Flannans College v St Brendans St Francis College Rochestown v HS Clonmel Matches to be played on February 6th
Any reports from anyone at them? From the Sem result alone it sounds like they were fairly comfortable. From Twitter it seems like whoever was reffing the Rathmore V Flannans games made a couple of big decisions - 2 penalties and 2 black cards awarded against Rathmore. In terms of county representation it's one from each of Kerry, Cork, Tipp and Clare, with 2 rematches from the group stages Given the Sem beat Flannans 0-14 to 0-4 in the group stages, they would surely be strong favourites to win that semi-final. The Rochestown v Clonmel game was closer Clonmel winning 2-12 to Rochestown 1-11. Both these sides were involved in Harty cup group stages when they met so they could well have had lads missing or tired because of that.

Some action from the Sem Corca Dhuibne game.
Lucky goal for the Sem. Very tasty point from David Naughton as well.

Dingle were very defensive in 1st half, thirteen back inside the 45 even with the strong wind. The Sem were very patient and had three goal chances before they scored one. Dingle came more into it in 2nd quarter and shut down the Sem forward line for a while, but never committed enough players to attack to trouble the Killarney defence.
PCD supporters were confident enough at half time that they could overturn the deficit but it never materialised and the Sem used the wind with three quick points at the start of the 2nd half to realistically finish the game. PCD gamely kept plugging away till the end but struggled to get the ball inside the Sem half due to the high workrate of the Killarney lads.
The Sem lads were dominant all over the field but standout players were Michael Potts and Dan O'Brien at the back, Lee Donoghue and Billy Courtney in midfield and Dara Moynihan in the half forwards. David Shaw looked very classy on the ball when he came out the field. David Clifford looked restricted by injury

Report on the PS SL Rathmore and St Flannans Ennis game by Mortimer Murphy.
Tough luck on PS SL Rathmore is yesterday's Corn Ui Mhuiri quarterfinal in Rathkeale - despite not playing well in the opening half - they were only a point behind thanks to a superb Dean Fitzgerald goal - 0-6 to 1-2 - The introduction of Mark Ryan who did not start because of injury changed the game as he took over at midfield and drove at St Flannan's - Rathmore were a point clear and looking good with 5 left and then two mortal blows - Dean Fitzgerald receives a harsh black twenty five meters from his own goal - I thought the b/c was for cynical fouling at the other end - yellow would have done - then a leg block and a penalty to Flannan's and suddenly Rathmore were 3 behind with 2 plus injury left - Then the cynical fouling started and I reckon the Rathmore no 7 or it might have been someone else was cleaned out by two Clare players 45 meters out on the far side - but no black card - baffling and I have great time for that referee - normally he gets it right but yesterday was just a bad day at the office - Rathmore got two late points but fell a point short - Considering their form before Christmas it was disappointing - I have no doubt if they had Mark Ryan for the whole game they would have won - If they had not conceded soft frees in the first half - they would have won - If Brian Friel and Dean had not got black cards - they would have at least got extra time - but it was not the fault of DJ Murphy- Mark Ryan - Patrick Warren - the O'Connor's, Jamie Brosnan or Dean Fitzgerald that they lost - just bad luck on the day - no breaks - no Mark Ryan in the first half and no breaks - but St Flannans were tough and dogged and they got the goal when needed - I think they will find the Sem a bridge too far !!!" #onlysaying

Corn Uí Mhuirí (18.5 A F) S/Final Draw St Flannans College v St Brendans St Francis College Rochestown v HS Clonmel Matches to be played on February 6th Four different counties represented in the semi finals for a change. I suspect a Sem V Rochestown final is what most pundits expect - the two favourites from the outset of the competition.

How did Rathmore manage to lose to St. Flannana considering how heavily the latter went down today?

How did Rathmore manage to lose to St. Flannana considering how heavily the latter went down today? . Rathmore are not good, there strong down the centre but realistically the only player that would start on the St.Brendans team from Rathmore is Brian Friel and Mark Ryan pushing for a starting place. (In my opinion) any of ye have any match reports of the game today ? Or any of ye at it ?

Rathmore are the team my prediction for Corn Ui Mhuiri winners u heard it here I find it extremely amusing at how one minute ye rated Rathmore as contenders to win the Corn Ui Mhuiri and once there beaten ye slate them and say there not that good? I'd be thinking that considering Rathmore had 3 other players who are involved in the Kerry Minor panel that they would start on the St Brendan's team.

I never once said Rathmore would win the corn ui mhuiri, never rated them .. Brian Friel friel can play wing back/forward I could see him slotting in nicely at wing back for the Sem team leaving out N.O'D. Mark Ryan would be pushing for contention in Mid-Field And really could not see Dean Fitzgerald starting for the Sem if he did play for them! My opinion

My opinion I agree wit westarebest let's give PSSL Rathmore a bit of credit they had a really good campaign beating Corca Dhuibhne by 12 points and a good Chroist Ri side by 10 points and a rather weak Macroom team.. According to Murt Murphy they were hard done by against St Flannans.. I do think St Brendans would have been too strong for them however I disagree with tommybigboots about only having 2 of the team on the St Brendan's team.. I would be shocked if Kieran O Connor DJ Murphy and Connie Connors didn't get on the St Brendan's back line with Mark Ryan in the middle and Brian Friel and Dean Fitzgerald up front. But it must be said its St Brendan's to lose a very strong outfit I said it from the start that they were the team to beat some exceptional talent

Highballintostar, were you at the game Sem game ? Any reports on who played well ? Any particular players we should look at for the final ? I do agree with you that Niall is very good but if Brian Friel did play for the Sem I couldn't see him in the forward line as its too strong and he was very good wing back for East Kerry minors. So versatile which is a good thing
