flawed article from start to finish. "Last week, we said that in a contest between a 'great' Cork defence and a 'very good' Meath attack, that the defence looked the winner. And so it was. Today, we've got a 'very good' Dublin defence against a 'good' Kerry forward-line. If defence holds solid, The Dubs are home".......................isnt it the general consensus that dublins defence is their weak link? and i think that kerry forward line is a bit better than 'good'

May he be suitably embarrased to have written that article.
Football beats trash talk, end of story.

"...by a magical...seven or eight points". What is he on about. Muppet. I mean he really gambled his credibility on that article, and what a foolish thing to do. Trying to present his case rationally when it was clear that there were strong emotions bubbling beneath the surface. I don't understand it at all, the man is supposed to be a professional. How can he let himself go like that.
Boy was I glad to hear the final whistle today. I wonder what was said at half time. And now a tempestuous final awaits. We really really really cannot afford to lose.

Tom Humphries had this to say about us today.....
This was a game Dublin had to win. It was a game they could have won. For a start, Kerry are not unbeatable; Meath, Armagh, Tyrone and Cork have all demonstrated that over the past few years against more experienced Kerry teams.

I cant believe this was written by a journalist ! Mr Hayes , you have burned your bridges into Kerry . It is the most uninformed rubbish I have ever read. And to also say that Seamus is not one of the greats of our generation and to not even deem Maurice Fitzgerald worthy of mention ....!! ??

Brilliant stuff Liam Hayes, just what Kerry needed. Please write an article just like it for the All-Ireland final predicting Cork to win by 8 points.

To be fair to Humphries that's not a bad comment. Yes Dublin could've won. We are far from unbeatable and we have had more experienced sides than this one. So fair enough. As for Hayes..........Donkey.

For the sake of debate, here goes (deep breath, and I really shouldnt be putting myself on the line with this on today of all days.....must be feeling wreckless! By the way, I predicted a draw & that Dec O'Sullivan was your best forward this year ). I think what Hayes was saying was a challenge, to Kerry to reach the high standards that they set for themselves. It was also a harsh judgement on all other teams who have beaten or been beaten by Kerry in the last 10-20 years. But then Hayes has always been extremely honest & critical of all teams, not least his own. Therefore I think that his article was a very interesting one, but whilst he made a very wrong prediction (which I was sickened to see before the game! ), I feel that his article was kind of bang on what alot of Kerry people might have been thinking themselves, in terms of their team reaching it's potential this year The very wrong things I would see in it are: no mention of Maurice Fitz, and failing to point out that Kerry had a six wekk break before the Monaghan game. Even humble Dubs peasants like me could predict that Kerry would play much, much better yesterday

Saying that Moynihan isn't one of the greats is clearly a mistake Mrtiernetesq.
This article is just cannon fodder for what is a team thats far from rock bottom. We're far from the finished article and are well beatable, but this guy seems to think that we wouldn't be in the top few teams in the country. He's a clown.

Hayes is a clown with a serious chip on his shoulder. The comments on Moynihan are uncalled for and way off the mark. As a footballer he was only a mullocker, not fit to lace Moynihan's or Maurice's boots. As a journalist he is even worse. If you feel like politely pointing out the error of his ways, you can contact him or his superiors at the email addresses below. Hayes on Radio Kerry defending his "views". Fair play for him to come on and he defended his opinions manfully and refused to admit he was wrong in any of his opinions.

But Yellowbelly the point is that he was wrong in his opinions!!!! So to say fair play to a 'fool' for going on our local radio to justify his comments and not admitt how wrong he was just shows us that he isn't much of a sportsman...

Sorry, of course, I forgot to put that in as well. I say fair play to Hayes for being brave enough to make his points, The problem is that he writes & thinks about GAA in a different way to most writers, he really does paint a different picture that challenges the usual lazy stuff and takes a bit of thought to analyse. I read all his stuff when he was playing for Meath & they were beating us every year, it was hard at times, but I found him very honest & insightful, in a way that other writers arent As I said, I dont think he makes proper predictions, more like challenges to players & teams to step up to their reputation

Article was definitely a bit much, but I gotta say if I was one of the Kerry team and I read that before the game, I would be rearing to go to prove the guy wrong and shove the article down his throat!!!

rashers, you're talking through your a&*e there now, the man hasn't a clue, it's obvious, challenging the players bs, do u think they take any notice of that tripe...
i emailed the editor and i let him know i will never buy their paper again because of that muppet, if others do something similar, they might kop on, if he gets attention he'll be delighted, but if they hear that people will stop buying the paper, they might not be so happy
