I heard a story that Jack did nt help matters with Cillian Burke either.Im told that when news came of Interest in Cillian in OZ that Jack asked for Cillian to ring him.Why did nt Jack ring?Too proud maybe?Anyway word is Cillian rang Jack and Jack supposedly said "You might not get much gametime out there at all" to which Cillian replied "I did nt get much gametime from you either". Now I dont know how accurate story is but I was told by a man that knows Jack well.

If a player is in a development squad, up to and including senior inter-county panel, then a set fee should be in place for any sporting outfit wishing to take that player out of the squad. Whether that be London GAA, USA GAA or Aussie Rules (or golf, even) the fee applies. Say 100k. And in the case of Cillian Burke, if Geelong or whoever decide not to pay this fee, what then? He doesn’t have a contract with Kerry or the GAA so nobody can tell he can’t go. Would Kerry be entitled to a fee for David Shanahan going playing American Football or Down for Charlie Smith. Other Kerry underage players have headed over to England to play soccer, is there a fee involved there? Maybe if the international rules series is bought back, the GAA can insist on some sort of development fee being paid for players who head to Australia. And even then, who gets paid and what proportion. Club, school, college ever and that’s before you get to the county and in Kerry have the divisional board as well.

Lads we are an amateur organization, there are no fees of contract end of story. Can we keep the guys here, we kept David, was he chased not too sure, but guys make their own decisions and it’s not decided lightly, let’s give the lads respect. As mentioned, playing for kerry does not pay any bills, a huge honour for sure. Just beyond the guys going playing AFL, I think the general level of immigration has had a huge impact on local gaa, we see it every day in our county leagues, some rural clubs have dropped off, amalgamations required to continue, this has impacted the quality of our game. But all you can say is best of luck to the young gang, boys and girls, ireland is great place to be, but things very city focused as regards careers.
Back to the football, you got to play the hand your dealt and I do believe the rule changes will help kerry forward play in the year ahead, surly a game changer to the footballing teams.

The new rules if implemented should help the likes of David Paul and Seanie but we still have to play with a more attacking trait. The rules will also suit Dublin and Galway. The throw in could be a problem for us when its one on one against reall tall midfielders. The 40 metre arc should really suit Kerry as we have scoring backs.Im looking forward to seeing how it all pans out during the league.

Agree, bring it on I say, it has to improve, especially the inter county game.

Alot of counties are losing players to OZ but we seem to be losing our top talent. Dublin did lose James Madden a few years ago (that was highly spoken of) but he is returning back now to concentrate on gaa.He is just 24 years old. Cillian Burke would be a huge loss for us. Clubs and counties across the country are losing players to Oz.. To Canada.. America.. etc.. and guys transferring away to clubs in Dublin or Cork or wherever... being a rural county on the western seaboard is no help... but certainly and without doubt being a Kerry senior footballer is no longer viewed as the great opportunity it is by the younger generation... the obsession by the young people of Ireland with Australia is headscratching... its not cheap place to live.. you work hard there.. I think the CB and Kerry management think lads will just give up everything to be on the Kerry panel. But it's not like that anymore. Ireland isn't exactly cheap to live in either.

Ya he had a fine game the last day. Has senior intercounty experience also from his sojourn in Tipperary. How did Sean O Connell play with Tipp, out of curiousity? Did he transfer or was it through parents? Transfer to Loughmore-Castleiney in 2022.

Kerry football isnt the be all and end all for talented sports people like it once was in reality the team is not well supported with big attendances and criticism comes thick and fast even most Kerry people rarely attend the matches. this is not lost on young people who are now wide to other aspects of life and what it can offer

Pure bulla nd people driving fair or not just want Jack out should do it better way.

Rumours that alot of top Kerry talent going for afl trials
Ben Murphy (Stacks) Ronan Carroll (Stacks) Daniel Kirby (Stacks) Killian Dennehy (Cordal) Tomás Kennedy (Rahillys) Charlie Keating (Crokes)
Shocking if true all of whom bar keating( Who I’d believe is doing gym training with seniors) are back in U20 training with paid S&C Coaches, then going out to Australia in top class condition and no compensation to club and counties who put so much time and effort into developing these players from such a young age.

So looks likely that we'll be away to Cork in the Munster S/F next year. And them with a Q/F under their belts. A game not to be taken lightly.

We should really have Kennelly’s passport revoked. A man who cares little for Kerry and a lot for his own pocket

Although I try my best to not think about his book as it was one of the worst!

Of those Ben Murphy and Keating would be the only 2 with any chance of making it. Huge physicality and pace are a base requirement for AFL as an import. But even those 2 would be massive losses for sure. It’s a bit sickening given we’ve suffered more than most here but what can you do? If young fellas want to go, they’ll go.

If Tadgh Kennelly owned a construction company in Australia and was offering graduates a chance to work over there, he probably would be regarded as some sort of hero for giving people a shot.

Yeah he'd be a real hero if he was picking Kerry's brightest GAA prospects to get them blocklaying in Perth

County championship is nearly at its conclusion and I don’t see anyone stepping up next year again apart from the usuals.
Paul geaney standout player of the championship at this stage of his career.
I really don’t see anyone new coming to the panel next year and taking it by storm maybe Dylan geaney.
I think dingle will beat the crokes in the final.

In fairness, I think we all knew the first 15 for kerry would not change much, the supporting cast is what needs assessment.
6 of 1 half dozen of the other comes to mind.

Considering the stance on the divisional board championships I presume we can expect to see very few if any Kerry players line out with Munster at the weekend in the new rules trial cum Railway Cup in Croke Park..
