Kerins O'Rahillys, Beaufort, Stacks and Laune Rangers for me. I am with you on the first 3 - Glenflesk if Luke Crowley & Cian Lynch available. An all Tralee final if KO’R & Stacks avoid each other in semis - would be a repeat of county senior final in ‘21!!

Listowel Emmets 0-14 Laune rangers 3-16 Emmets had a mathematical, if unrealistic, chance of progressing here but, shorn of a spine, were always likely to struggle. Made a game of it all the same and led by 4 points after 18 minutes. Sam Tarrant aced a 13 metre free from the sideline that DC would have been proud of. Daire Cleary turned the tide for Rangers, burning the Listowel defence for the opening goal. Listowel rallied with three of the next four but the visitors nicked a couple of late scores to trail by the minimum at halftime - 0-11 to 1-7. That lead was never going to do facing a strong wind and three quick points on the resumption gave LR a grip on the game that they never relinquished. A second goal midway through the half (Gearoid Hassett, I think) put it to bed. Emmets were wilting but never threw in the towel despite conceding a third with 8 minutes to go. The final scoreline was perhaps a little harsh, though Rangers were clearly the stronger side as the game went on. Decent game on a lovely day. After the highs of last year, Listowel have found the step up to intermediate a bit of a struggle but, with a young side, will only improve.

This really is a great competition. The groups went pretty much as expected, even leaving strong teams like Kilcummin and An Ghaeltacht out. I can see a scenario where every one of these teams wins it, except maybe Glenbeigh. Returning players will be key for Glenflesk, Beaufort and Legion

From KO’R website below. Resilience is not about denying or avoiding the challenges we face. It's about accepting our circumstances and finding the strength to adapt and grow, even when things seem less than ideal. We lined out as selected in our final group game vs Kilcummin with the home side drafting in former Kerry minor Keelan O’Shea and James Nagle to their defence. We had the strong wind at our backs in the opening half and despite conceding the first score of the game to a Paul O’Shea free we reeled off the next four points, all from play via David Moran, BJ Keane, Shane McElligott and the inform Tomás Kennedy. We were slightly wayward in our attack thereafter with 3 wides from favourable positions before Kilcummin, with a pointed effort from a free from Paul O’Shea and a point from play from Gary O’Leary reduced the deficit to the minimum, 0-04 to 0-03 just as the clock ticked into the 20th minute. Donagh Buckley had picked up an innocuous yellow card earlier but when Ryan Carroll retaliated after being fouled the referee brandished a red card and we now had a huge battle on our hands. Despite being a man down, we upped the ante significantly and notched 7 points from here to the short whistle whilst restricting Kilcummin to just two points. Much of this good play stemmed from the middle where David was to exert a huge influence plus increased pressure on Brendan Kealy’s kick outs. We had scores from Gearóid Savage, 2, a pointed free and from play, Tomás Kennedy, Barry John whose attempt to lob the keeper just sailed over and two points from frees from sub Jack Savage - Jack was to go on to have a huge impact on the game and kicked another vital two points in the 2nd half. The half time score of 0-11 to 0-05 was reflective of our play but the prospects of facing the strong breeze and a man down were daunting to say the least. The 2nd half began with Kilcummin in command and they had reduced the halftime deficit to minimum by the 10th minute following 5 unanswered points with Paul O’Shea in particular to the fore. Jack stemmed the tide in the 14th minute with a pointed free to leave the score line @ 0-12 to 0-10 and the intensity was now significantly ratcheted up. We next lost Tommy to injury with Gearóid Dillane entering the fray but Paul O’Shea again was the focus as he added a point before making a fine catch on our 21 yard line and finding the net with a rising drive past a helpless Rob O’Connor; trailing 1-11 to 0-12 our goose looked cooked. However, a mix of unity, passion, and a never say die spirit saw us take command around the middle, David and Tom shining out, Ross raiding from deep and Cormac, Ben and Darragh McElligott unyielding in defence. We now had the momentum, every man hungry for every ball and in Jack we had a matchwinner as he converted two vital frees, one from 45 metres into the wind with Ben Hanafin and Gearóid Dillane both popping over vital scores. Kilcummin for their part were not done and in the final dying moments they reduced the deficit to one point but as the clock ticked into the red, it was us who were in possession and attacking as the referee brought proceedings to a halt and signalled our advance to the quarter finals. This was a serious gut check and the triumph was not all about skill - it was about heart, grit and unwavering belief in our own ability. Final score: KO’R : 0-16 Kilcummin 1-12 The quarter final draw will see Fossa visit Strand Road on Sat evening next, 17th August where throw-in is slated for 6 pm - it promises to be another great occasion!! Team: Rob O’Connor, Darragh McEllligott, Ross O’Callaghan, Donagh Buckley, Ben Hanafin ( 0-01), Jake Foley, Ryan Carroll, David Moran ( 0-01), Tom Hoare, Barry J Keane ( 0-02), Shane McElligott ( 0-01), Padraig Griffin, Gearóíd Savage ( 0-02), Tommy Walsh, Tomás Kennedy ( 0-04).

Always thought Paul o Shea was going on to great things sounds like he played well here Agree, I had serious hope for the lad but he completely fell off the radar. Still he is relatively young and can still make an impact- I still think he has something, a bit of a rough diamond under the right guidance could flourish

I have to agree a beautifully balanced footballer, probably as good of most of the bench squad in with Kerry, but delivers composure in his game that some of those others don’t have, makes time on the ball for himself. Like to see him back in with Kerry, he was in their previous, not sure what happened???

Will be interesting to see whether he will be on the east Kerry team or not, fierce competition in the forward line but maybe they will play him midfield. If he can put in a good campaign with east Kerry he will probably get another go with Kerry.

Players who might take a big step forward after a good county championship could be squeezed out in these superstar divisions. I always said I liked the idea of an ‘Eoghan Ruadh’ team which this would comprise of Kilcummin, Glenflesk, Gneevguilla and Kilgarvan. Those 4 teams alone would be favourites for the county championship. Moving back to 10 senior teams by 2026 should level this out in the long term

There is a bit of ball to be played yet, but agree that clash would near fill the Park... I felt the year Stacks won the C'ship the Narries were unlucky to lose Mush O'Brien and Moran. It would have been a different game completely.

I think Cain lynch might be back, his team won the final over in Boston last weekend, if he was around he would be a big plus to glenflesk and would bolster a weak defense. I still think laune rangers will have too much for them, too much pace in attack. It will be a tight game though.

As someone mentioned he was in before, so can’t remember him getting any game time. The lad definetly has quality, enough of experts to see where he might fit.
