Scrappy enough match in Tralee this evening. Laune Rangers should have been out of sight at halftime, but didn't take their chances and were only up by 3 points at halftime after playing with the breeze. 2 goals on the break clenched it for Rahillys. David Moran with 1-1 from play in the 2nd half is still a class act. You mean Barry John with 1-1. David scored a point in second half. Laune rangers threw it away. I thought it was a high quality afair actually in a defensive aspect Think it was a real championship affair - thought ref ignored way too many fouls in trying to keep the game flowing - definitely a lot of frees were ignored. Rangers will rue their missed chances to be sure but are probably good enough to still make the last 8 - they were over reliant on Eoghan Hassett.

The Eolaire 2024 document also has the following (tidied up from tables in the document for easier reading): INTERMEDIATE CLUB FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 - For the purposes of confirming the Rd 2 & Rd 3 Matches, where a game finishes level in Rd 1 - The 1st named team in that game will be designated the 'Match Winner' and the 2nd named team the 'Match Loser'. GROUP 1 - Round 1
Neutral venue: John Mitchels v Austin Stacks; Glenbeigh/Glencar v An Ghaeltacht
Round 2 1st named = home venue Match 1 Winner v Match 2 Loser; Match 1 Loser v Match 2 Winner

I thought it was a high quality afair actually in a defensive aspect My mistake, it was the other Rahillys goal I was thinking of. I thought it was David that got it, but it was Tom Hoare that scored it. As for it being a high quality affair in a defensive aspect. Yes the defending in huge numbers by both teams, stifled the opposition, but that's not what I judge a quality match by. I go by the more easy on the eye stuff like good kick passing, backs able to defend 1 on 1, forwards confident and able enough to take on their men. Most of the hand passing, and shooting this evening was woeful.

Take Stacks’ group for example. Stacks will beat Mitchel’s and say Gaeltacht beat Glenbeigh. The next round then would be Stacks beating Glenbeigh and Gaeltacht beating Mitchels. The last round then is a complete dead rubber because of no relegation. If you were to do winner v winner in the 2nd game, one of those teams would have to drop points and would keep it all competitive into the last game

Credit to both teams for not letting this game get out of control due to the lax refereeing. Clear fouls to both sides were overlooked and some of them were robust challenges that on another day could flare up to a melee. intensity was championship level, shooting was poor in the main with some poor misses. Tomas Kennedy looks to be a serious player in the making and it will be interesting to see how he develops - one majestic high catch and a couple of long range points. Eoghan Hassett did well for Rangers and got on a lot of ball with some good scores.

I know he has a reputation for allowed no the game to “ flow” but it never should be at the expense of clear fouls - thought the hit on Tomás Kennedy in the first half was a foul & a possible yellow - equally there were some challenges that were black cards. I think Tomás Kennedy is a very serious prospect- expected him to play further afield , anywhere in the half forward line would seem to suit him - he has the class, physique & for a still 17 year old, he seems very mature. Just hope he stays in the country!

Have Kerry GAA stopped posting Match Programmes on their website prior to games? As we have often said, the site is a joke - there are too many chiefs, not enough Indians in ASP! I rang on Tuesday to ascertain if there would be a cash turnstile open for last night’s game - I was told “ we don’t know”! Nobody could answer the question! We have an anonymous PRO and a shambles of a website!

Can't find any fixtures on the website, only a table based on the result of last weekend's games.
When I press upcoming fixtures, that's all I get!

I watched the Legion vs Glenflesk game on Clubber last weekend. Dara Roche with 1-10 is some kicking. Great to see James O Donoghue back to his best kicking 7 points.

I fancy gneeveguilla to beat legion this weekend easy enough, legion missing too many and don't have the heart when it comes to it.Laune rangers will beat killcumin just about. Stacks look strong but wouldn't be packing bags for senior yet, light upfront. Beaufort could be the dark horses. Wouldn't rule out glenbeigh to reach semis.

Stacks, Rahillys, Beaufort the three to beat here? Austin Stacks are the favourites & rightly so - defensively strong, good forwards - Joe O’Connor formidable @ midfield. KO’R will be hoping to keep some of their elder statesmen fit which could be a challenge given the condensed nature of the fixtures - the availability of the likes of Cormac Coffey & Conor Hayes will be crucial to their hopes. Beaufort are strong - Mike Breen, Seán O’Brien, Kieran Dennehy will all take watching. Think Glenflesk will be there or thereabouts - Daniel O’Brien, Darragh Roche, Luke Crowley, Cian Lynch - not sure if the latter 2 are available; that would be my last 4 - maybe Fossa will upset the apple cart!

For me it’s going to be Stacks, Beaufort or Glenflesk.

A lot of the US based guys are returning at the minute so teams will be almost @ full strength for the knock out stages.

Stacks clear favourites in my eyes and are looking to be building a serious team over next couple years. Minor and U21 County titles recently, several intercounty players between Minor,U21 & Senior.
Stacks should realistically be aiming for Croke Park in January. They must have near 10 players who were on a Kerry panel in 2024 or done so in the past.
Beaufort best equipped to beat them and like usual it is getting out of Kerry that is the hardest part but I still think Stacks are a good 5 points better than 2nd best.

Watched the Legion game 2nd half yesterday and to be fair they could have won by more. They were very slick in their handling and passing yesterday and cut through Gneeveguilla on multiple times, taking their point when they could have got goals. They aren't out of the race yet.

They look good on+10, if gneeveguilla beat glenflesk by anything they go through, while a draw will be enough for glenflesk. Glenflesk could be the ones to lose out oddly enough if gneeveguilla beat them. It will be three teams on 6 points, if legion beat Mary's.

Legion in Fairness look very sharp and fit.
