Nuig deservedly won by 18 to 15
Surreal end.
Dara Moynihan was fouled and he threw his man to the ground. He got a second yellow ...i think...and then red.
Savage gets a second yellow and then a red for complaining about Dara.
Play resumes...Tony Brosnan has the ball in dragged...reacts by throwing his man to the ground... red card...not sure if he was on a yellow.

Awful stuff , 3 silly boys getting sent off aswell 0-18 to 0-15 to NUIG - Dara Moynihan & Jack Savage both sent off on 2 yellows, Tony Brosnan straight red all in final 3 mins!! Ref lost control completely. Dara was stupid but the guy who started pushing him should have been booked aswell. Jack was saying that to the ref and got a second yellow for dissent and then Tony just took out his frustration. While I don’t condone what Tony did, the ref was a shambles and he just lost his temper

Embarassing enough from Moynihan booting the ball away and refusing to leave the field. I get the frustration but he grabbed the player around the head and threw him down. It's a yellow card all day. Savage kept running his mouth and without knowing what was said probably deserved his yellow. Brosnan swung back and connected with the head and deserved his straight red. Not a great look from our Kerry Intercounty representatives.

He gave jack 2 yellows at the end as opposed to one All poor reactions from the Kerry players but a really weak ref with no control over the game can grate with players. Moynihan was pure frustration. Jack couldn’t understand the inability to punish the player who had started pushing Moynihan and delayed the free, ie why the rules weren’t being applied. Tony just lost it as the frustration became too much

I had though Savage was booked earlier but maybe i am mistaken Yeah Savage was booked for a foul around Midfield earlier. He only got the one yellow for mouthing. Funny enough that was his 3rd yellow tonight with the yellow card in normal time as well.

The ending was a farce and you can blame the ref all you like but the three sent off are all experienced lads who are also Kerry senior players and they should be leading by example. Remember MTUK also lost a player to red in normal time.
Terrible performance by MTUK and NUIG had their homework done - horrible game to watch. MTUK were wiped out in midfield for large portions of the game and their much vaunted forward line were starved of decent ball and made to look very ordinary.
Sadly (from a Kerry perspective) the better team won on the night. Hopefully our remaining representatives can go one better - would be interesting to see how DC would fare against that Galway defence.

UL beat DCU by 3 points so we will have some Kerry representatives in the final at least.

UL won by 3 points.
DCU missed plenty.
The big 3 for UL were Powter at CHB..what a hardy guy he is....David Clifford who kicked scores that only he can kick..... and Donal oSullivan. Donal seemed to play more out the field tonight to good effect. His second half score when he broke a few tackles and lamped in over from 40 yards is exactly what Kerry need.

The UL/DCU game was very enjoyable.
David Clifford hit some beautiful scores and was mobbed by youngsters after and it makes you very proud that he's a Kerry man.
Donal OSullivan was excellent with a great score in the FH.
One player I won't name looks a little out of shape.

UL well deserved it. David kicked a beauty towards the end. Crowds around him within seconds of the final whistle, he's a superstar but seems like a real humble guy with plenty time for supporters. Powter very good at centre back.

Tralee lost the game in the middle, no kick out strategy , kick out after kick out turned over, savage did well to drag them into extra time, disappointing ending for sure, but better organised team won on the night.

I earmarked Donal O'Sullivan early doors this year, I'm amazed he is not drafted into the panel. His form is very consistant.
Surely on current play he has to be considered, after DC he is the second most dangerous forward for UL.

To be fair Tierney is a class act for them and there seemed to be a bit of a height advantage. Better team won for sure

Something happened at the end of the UL game, Oisin Langan was due to interview Paul Walsh but all you could hear was him screaming to have something taken off him. Listen to the end of the video and then no interview happened 😬

The ball the MTUK forwards got was irregular and they did not perform any extraordinary feats with the meagre possession they got - Hence my description.

Ok so, he was continuously being taken out off the ball and the ref was doing nothing so he complained about it. Seems like a logical approach, you do know taking lads out off the ball is not in the rules? I do indeed know that, I didn't come down in the last shower!! What I'm saying is that Jack is long enough in the tooth at this stage to get on with the game, stop complaining and reacting to everything that goes on and punish the opposition with his undoubted skills. As I highlighted earlier in this thread, if Jack doesn't learn to get on with the game and forget about getting involved with match officials and opponents, he'll always be a liability to the teams that he's on. After his 3 yellows and a red this evening, my own opinion is that he'll never learn that at this stage, and that could cost him from displaying his skills at a higher level. What a waste of his talents if he continues like this.

Awful stuff , 3 silly boys getting sent off aswell More of a free-taking competition than a game. Handpass handpass, whistle. Handpass, handpass, handpass, whistle. And so on and so on. Zero football played. Horrible stuff altogether.

Anyway when you try play the game without protection , sometimes it gets frustrating, if you were not at the game, I can tell you the lads were constantly checked off the ball, very frustrating on them all, constant it was.

I thought Hayes the referee couldn't get into the rhythm of the game and couldn't make balanced judgements on tackles, even from the very start. He ended up blowing everything. "Overly fastidious" to quote Billy O'Shea. Disappointing result.
In the other game I thought David was carrying a minor injury to his right leg and he was happy to let his teammates take the game to DCU. He stepped up 3 times when required. Firstly to get them going he pointed from 45. Then when DCU looked like doing their usual trick of getting unanswered points in the 2nd half he intervened and scored at the other end. Their momentum was broken Finally near the end he made and took scores to get the win. It's a long time since I saw a GAA player swarmed like he was seconds after the final whistle.
