Last time they got relegated was 1995. They won the all ireland that year (and every final they have been in since too which is incredible really). Cork beat them in the 1999 League final. Thanks Ard Mhacha...i meant AI senior finals

Kerry gave game time to 29 different players over the seven league games. Only three players started all 7 games and they were all defenders (Jason Foley, Tom O Sullivan and Tagdh Morley) - injuries meant Paul Murphy, Dan O Donoghue and Gavin White were unavailable which opened the door for others and Brian O Beaglaoich certainly put up his hand with others also showing well. We look like having some real competition and cover in defence which is great.
Our early trial with Sean O Shea and Adrian Spillane at midfield seemed to confirm Diarmuid and Jack as our mid-fielders, particularly as the realistic alternatives were in rehab. Joe O Connor was first back and got a chance and will probably seem more game time against Mayo. Hoping David Moran and possibly Stefan get fit and give us some depth in the area.
Forwards is where Jack seemed to do most of his tinkering with Sean O Shea and the Clifford's back boning this sector. Paul Geaney is showing some form which is welcome and a few others seem to offer something. A couple of lads in this area have probably confirmed that they will struggle to make an impact and will likely struggle to make match day panels if all are fit - Jack Savage, Michael Burns probably have not done enough with the opportunities they were given. Stephen O Brien and Dara Moynihan performed in patches and Tony Brosnan and Paul Geaney will be competing for places based on performances to date.
As others have mentioned our GK situation is good but not great - we have two decent keepers with each having deficiencies but overall I think Shane Ryan will be the No 1 for the championship.
All in all I think Jack will be happy with the league campaign - looked at a lot of players, some lads definitely putting their hands up and we made the league final giving us some Croke Park time.

TG4 rightly getting a lot of praise for their coverage yesterday and the way they whipped around to the Mayo and Donegal games while showing Dublin live.
But I can't understand why there was no coverage of events down in Killarney while the goals and points were going in. I read somewhere Tg$ didn't have cameras in Killanrey but RTE had because we saw the Tyrone highlight first thing on League Sunday. Were RTE not using TG4's footage/cameras in the other grounds for the same program? And isn't TG4 essentially an offshoot of RTE anyway!
How can two tv stations not share their equipment/recordings to allow all four matches be covered in the way three were yesterday. Why is the GAA's coverage stuck in the 1980s!

Surprised to see Lee Keegan named on the team of the league last night. Don't remember him doing anything much at all this season?
Also, it was interesting to see 5 or 6 players from the lower divisions named. That would never happen with the hurling pundits - nothing exists there except the elite counties.

Now after 7 games it's time to take stock. I hate criticising players but this is a forum and I think there might be one or two players not up to the task. There s no point in having players on the 26 panel if they can't contribute on the big day. Jack has a stubborn streak and likes to show players loyalty that did it for him underage. That's no good if they not doing it at senior level. Havj g players on the panel of 40 is fine and they might spur on others in training but not on the 26.As I've stated yesterday if we had won we would be papering over the cracks. Next week is our last big game to sort things out. A forum it is so we only see them for about 12 hours of game-time, albeit performing and which is the true test, but nobody in their right mind can say they know better than those who see them for what must be 20+ hours a week + game-time.

Nobody is infallible after that - Monday blues! I suppose he is the best alright though Patton is much improved and I suppose it is a weakness we need to address, what with Cluxton redefining the role of where every passage of begins. On that note, are the likes of Michael Murphy and David Clifford redefining positional roles or are they just breaking the mould? Jazus poor O'Hora will be having nightmares, talk of poking the bear, I have often heard laddos say so and so is unmarkable but DC is for sure - I wonder is Jason marking all 6'3" of him in training? If he can stop him 1% of the time he's the best FB in the country. Can anyone give an account of how Jason did vs McShane, must have done well as Cathal got the curly finger!
