Delighted that the match is timed for 3pm. It means an old codger can get home at a respectable time. The microbiologist , quoted by Buck, simplifies the situation and makes a lot of sense to me. In essence he seems to be saying that the greatest problem for Tyrone is their match preparation has been impacted and not the debilitation of their players. Of course our preparation has also been stymied but not to the same extent. Let us get on with the match now on the 21/08/21 . I expect Tyrone to be firing on all cylinders . The time for sympathy is past. Up and at them. I'm guessing that the potential issue with Tyrone fulfilling the game next week is that if a number of the players who are currently isolating end up testing positive in the next week or so ruling them and possibly others out of the refixed game.

I'm assuming that the throw in time of 3pm on the 21st was agreed following a meeting with the broadcasters. As there's some soccer game @ 5pm, I'm assuming again that the broadcasters would have preferred a 7pm throw in time for the Kerry match as this would be a great time for them from a ratings point of view, but the Gaa couldn't, in a consciousness send people back to Caherciveen leaving Croke Park @ 9pm. Once the Gaa and broadcasters have agreed this time. That's the end of this in my opinion. There will be no more options. Match will be played at 3pm on 21st. Or Tyrone offer a walkover. There is no more road.

Dr Cathal Collins is a microbiologist in Cavan-Monaghan Hospital and played county football for Cavan for several seasons through the late ‘90s and ‘00s. In his role he has witnessed the ravaging effects of Covid at the severe end of the scale. He believes the physical effects on players may not be hugely worrying. “The ones who are isolating because they are close contacts, they are not going to have any effect really from an energy point of view,” he explains. “I suppose the main thing is the disruption to their plans, it is coming at a very crucial time in the lead up to All-Ireland semi-final. “But the ones who are infected with Covid, there will be a range of presentation there. Some may not have any symptoms at all, all the way to the more severe end of the spectrums that we see. With the age groups we are talking about here, you are not really going to see that.” He continues: “The majority of them, if they are symptomatic, they will be mildly symptomatic. Which will obviously take a bit out of them with players being low on energy and having fatigue and so on. “It’s going to vary, some might be confined to bed and other maybe no more than a runny nose and a headache. And some may not have any symptoms at all.” Taken from www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-40356839.htmlAt least somebody has the balls to say it. I was listening to those numpties Ger Gilroy and John Duggan this morning. Even if the all Ireland has to take place in December again we should wait was the message. Without a thought for the 99.9% of GAA players in the counties who remain in the competition. I am a bit surprised that the good doctor didnt draw a distinction between players who are vaccinated and those who arent. Last year an ex Dublin hurler in his early 30s ended up in a bad way in hospital. But that was then in pre vaccination era. In my opinion most healthy players who are vaccinated wont be unduly effected by covid. Even one dose of AZ should ward off any major complications. People on immune suppressants and who are fully vaccinated can still be laid low by covid however but its unlikely many inter county players are in such a situations. Of course we all know that there are people out there who are anti vaccination and there may be some playing gaa at inter county level so maybe thats a factor.

David Coldrick got the whistle. I was expecting to see Joe McQuillan or Gough. Maybe they are being held in reserve for the final. Hopefully not

I agree 100% and as I said above, and which makes your point even more valid is that they tell us little enough is known about this cursed thing. I love to hate The Red Hands as much as any man, well bar the Derry man, but the scientists need to talk up - that shaggin thing has big men unable to walk to their own front door. What worries me is what they would be doing if the outbreak was in the Dubs camp, and for all we know they may not be 100% clear, and there is 1.5m of 'em. Tyrone need advice here and in fairness they have their priorities right in that safety is first, from what many have experienced I'd prefer to abandon it all if there was a risk of an out break and this virus gets stronger in bad weather. Ah don't like being a killjoy or mr sensible, and while the psychological relief the games give society probably saves lives if truth be told, we still can't stare danger in the face when we don't know what we are dealing with.

This shows why I think the GPA needs to be disbanded and replaced. The head of the GPA talking about player welfare and after issuing the press release still hasn't enquired about how serious the Tyrone Covid issue is. Beyond useless.

Head of the GPA he may be but, as a recent player with another of the semi-finalists, Parsons should stay out of it. The optics of him butting in aren't great, to say the least.

The GPA should be proactive in player welfare but have made no inquiry into Tyrone's players' health. It shouldn't matter where the GPA leadership is from and I'd be shocked if Parsons in his role was allowed do anything without fear of punishment. If Dublin knock out Mayo this weekend, is it then okay for Parsons to make inquiries? Why did the GPA release the press statement when they aren't in contact with their shop steward in Tyrone about offering their support? The optics are the GPA did nothing and not confronting the GAA about player welfare. We all know they just want to keep getting paid from HQ.

Listening to TO’S this am, asking questions like we don’t know what is going on behind scenes and how did it go from a few to double digits, felt like a bit of witch hunt. We all at this stage understand how this spreads but is the exact details of any interest to us. I know people need to be cautious and protect ourselves but just re-iterates how divisive this virus can be with families falling out about it let alone two teams with a rich rivalry. What am I saying, not sure, other than taking the position of holier than thou is not great

Tyrone journalist on Radio Kerry this morning reckons game will go ahead as things are looking a bit rosier in the Tyrone squad now.He stated that there is an anger with the GAA over their stance in not allowing an extra week yet still outlines the irony on how the Tyrone Co.Board itself has had clubs forfeit games cos of the stance they took. Feeds into what I've thought all along.Let them be flapping and winging away and let us concentrate on winning the game.Theres way too much debate on Radio and social media down here about Tyrone. If the shoe was on the other foot they'd be rubbing their hands with glee.

It would be helpful to find out what Tyrone did differently after the Ulster final to what the Dublin hurlers did after they played KK.
For both matches, both Tyrone footballers and Dublin hurlers played without 4 players hit by covid.
Dublin contained it.
I would expect that the GAA at the highest level are asking the same question.
Maybe its down to differing levels of vaccination and vaccines under the NHS compared to the HSE....

Lets face it. The ulster final was Tyrones all Ireland. Not writing them off by any means but winning ulster was their goal for the year and they celebrated the achievement of that goal. Kerry, Dublin and Mayo feel they have bigger fish to fry than a provincial win. I dont see what the numbers cant be confirmed. There is no GDPR issues in just numbers. I am not sure GDPR applies anyway as NI is not in the EU.
Kerry can just get on with it. The fact that Kerry have had a month gap will probably be balanced by the fact Tyrone have had no collective training. Also give DM and DOC more time to recover.
If Kerry god forbid had an outbreak next week in the camp I presume we would be entitled to a postponement.

Hadn't really known this element they went put drinking all together my sympathy is starting to get smaller. Not the cleverest move when you already have covid cases. It's pretty stupid in fact when you have a semi final in 2 weeks Jesus if pk allowed that I'd be calling for his head!
I doubt they will get another week there will be 2 other counties effected aswell club wise

Moderator change his mind on covid discussions , I believed No Covid talk on forum. Anyway let’s not get distracted from football, on form we are an 8 point better team, that’s what we expect , When the game is played. I would expect something different from Tyrone, they will target our in form boys, now we have lots of them, but you can expect the cliffords to be targeted, for special attention, walsh/donaghy in 2008/3009, so they will feel the love from tone. Looking forward to the game.

Text from a Monaghan friend at work: "I hear Tyrone are playing mind games and blowing the issue out of all proportion". If any lad in Tyrone is unwell I have every sympathy for him However like Mickmack and his Monaghan pal I am a doubting Thomas when it comes to them and would like to see data to support their case. They have demonstrated a willingness to do anything required to advance their cause in the past and that leaves a lingering doubt. Before anyone accuses me of hating Tyrone let me reassure you I don't, I am just wary of them and the tactics they have deployed in the past.

Yeah I'm in two minds to purchase it, It sold out in a few hours but its back on the O Neills page now. They should take note though dark green and gold and white trim is the way to go. Not that abomination they wear at the moment.

Cork went all physical with us even before the ball was thrown in and for about 15 minutes it bore fruit for them You know Tyrone are the masters of the physical pressure game when the decide to go that way Tyrone will sustain that manic pressure a lot longer than Cork did If they take us to half time with a low scoring close game It could be an interesting second half . Dooher has only had success against Kerry and he’ll not fear us one bit ..

Sean Boylan has just been on the radio with Damien Lawlor saying basically that the medical profession should be brought in to assess the situation and their view should dictate when the game goes ahead.
He referenced the 1989 replay taking place on 13th October as the Tour de France stage was on here at the time.
