We all want that it's more about whats practical , are they planning to have all ireland club this year I wonder? That's the biggest stumbling block really beyond the 4 counties involved not agreeing to push back the dates and hence the club championships in mayo, kerry and dublin ( Tyrone obviously will agree). I don't really see anything other than us playing whatever team Tyrone have available Saturday week tbh whether we or tyrone like it or not. Anything else would be a bit farcial really and could lead to all sorts of craziness at club level with teams wanting protracted delays etc. It's such a pity this year's championship in both codes where going so well from a covid point of view.

Dooher appeared fairly certain that the game will go ahead next week.
At this point we will take that.
Yes we want a challenge but also that players like Paidi and the new lads get a run out in CP.
I just hope that Kerry GAA receive assurances that all safety measures are in place.

I have no sympathy with Tyrone. They got Covid earlier in the campaign and now again. To do it once is bad but to do it twice is careless. Such carelessness should not be tolerated. There are standards to be followed and some of the players ignored them. I'm sure lost of players in club and county would love to go and enjoy themselves. But NO. The fear of Covid and missing games is too important. Hopefully all Kerry players and officials are avoiding Covid. I have every sympathy with them from a logistical point of view and from a point of view that the players have worked just as hard as every other county team this year. Heard lots of stories and received lots of WhatsApp’s about “what really happened”. Nobody, only those within the camp, know how it happened and why. Everything else is just conjecture. It could be just down to bad luck, same as lots of others who have contracted it. It’s not an ideal situation for either team. It is hard to see how Tyrone could field a team ready for an All Ireland semi final on Saturday week. As for Kerry they will just have to be as focused as always over the next week or so.

It would be preferable if Tyrone were given an extra week but I don’t know if that is feasible. A walkover or playing a weakened Tyrone team is of no benefit to Kerry.

Figures up north are a lot worse than here aswell, I wouldn't be the biggest fan of Tyrone at all but fair is fair if it happened us how would we want to be treated? I would want us to have proper prep time. I think the game should be out back by 2 weeks otherwise one of the 3 scenarios below play out... 1. Tyrone are replaced by another team (can't see this happening BTW) who are out of intercounty football and have possibly "drank a small lake" (brilliant line BTW). 2. We play (and presumably beat) Tyrone B/Tyrone u20s and then play Mayo/Dublin in the final and we are undercooked. 3. We play (and presumable beat) Tyrone who have not had group training in a few weeks, see point 2 above! I want us to get to a final having being properly tested. Kerry have not been properly tested since Sunday 23 May 2021 when they drew with Dublin 4-09 to Kerry's 1-18 in Thurles. The 3 championship games in Munster can hardly be regarded as serious tests. I'm sure a weakened Tyrone team would give a better game than any of those 3 teams.

According to Peter Canavan over half the panel have tested positive.
That's really incredible.
I think that throws the game in major doubt contrary to what was on the 6 news.

If they have confronted Covid all along the way they confronted it in Killarney the weekend they were down here I'm not surprised half of them got it.

If I were Peter Keane and Tim Murphy, the one thing I would demand from Croke Park today is 100% certainty on the date of the fixture. Whether that is Saturday week or the week after should not matter.

I've as much sympathy for Tyrone as anyone else but this line from an interview with Brian Dooher is surely a case of over egging the pudding!
"We have had concerned parents on about the health of their children on our panel,"
We're talking about adult senior intercounty footballers here.

I heard a report on Morning Ireland that said he understood the amount of players with Covid and in isolation is in single figures.
If true and whilst this is at odds with what Canavan said on his propaganda piece yesterday, they have a panel of 35 players and no further allowances should be made.
Also I know a few players who have been vaccinated and ended up getting the Delta variant. They have been fine, didn't even know they were "sick" when they were diagnosed positive. So don't think for a minute we will be meeting the walking wounded on Saturday week.

Hard to know what to make of it all. The cynic in me thinks Dooher was laying it on a bit thick but you can be guaranteed that if the tables were turned, we would be accused of the same even if it was the truth! Vaccinated or not, I hope they all return to full health. It’s all a bit murky though. 4 close contacts after the Ulster final, now possibly not able to field a team and mothers are ringing about their sons.. As we all know, PK is a shrewd man when it comes to anything he may (or may not!) read in the media and he won’t be caught on the hop on Sat week. I imagine they’re preparing for the strongest Tyrone team there is and whatever happens, happens. If any of you listen to the football pod, you’ll have heard Paddy Andrews talking about Jim Gavin’s ‘what if’ list. I’m sure this eventuality has been on Keane’s list since training resumed.

When an Italian tells me it's pasta on the plate I check under the sauce to make sure. They are the inventors of the smokescreen.
Of course this is not a smokescreen by Tyrone as Alex Ferguson famously remarked about his distrust of Italians but Kerry need to fully focus on what they can control and need to blot out any thoughts of lining up against anything other than a wound up and fighting fit Tyrone outfit hell bent on knocking the favourites out.
Its a media narrative that Tyrone will be as weak as a wet paper bag and that Dublin are there for the taking. Plenty of twists and turns on the road yet methinks.

If, at this level, a team is looking for a postponement, the GAA community should be entitled to know exactly what the situation is. And never mind hiding behind confidentiality if you are the ones raising the issue and looking for concessions on foot of it. Not that names should be publicised or anything but it should be known exactly how many have covid, how many isolating etc and this information to be verified by doctors acting on behalf of the GAA. Maybe this happens, I'm not au-fait with the protocols, but you wouldn't think so with the mixed reports going around.

Declan Bogue in the examiner said that Tyrone were missing around a third of their panel so that would be around 10-12 and a number of these will not be sick. Tyrone will be fielding a decent regardless of when it is played. I also believe that a number of players were isolating since before last Saturday so again they will be back in plenty of time.

I sent an e-mail to Croke Park on availability of tickets for the final for season ticket holders based on the 2020 data base - response below:
" Hi
We will not be a position to issue tickets through Season Ticket accounts for this years All Ireland Semi Finals and All Ireland Finals.
Due to the uncertain nature of attendance numbers and the constantly changing guidelines regarding pilot events and outdoor gatherings it is not possible to allocate tickets through Season Ticket accounts.
Tickets will primarily be distributed through the clubs and competing counties.
The Season Ticket website is currently offline. We will relaunch the Season Ticket website when we offer Season Ticket renewals.
All Email change requests will be completed.
We hope to return to the full use of Season Tickets for the 2022 Season. Once we know more regarding this and renewals, we will be in touch with all Season Ticket holders. All 2020 Season Ticket holders will be given the option to renew their Season Tickets.

Aidan

I would surmise that GAA HQ know exactly how many cases there are in the Tyrone camp since they instructed the testing of the group over the weekend. Once they became aware of the situation they refixed the game the 21st. Surely they would have taken into account the health and wellbeing of the Tyrone players and made a decision accordingly. Tyrone understandably are looking for longer because I doubt they have done any collective preparation for this game and will get very little done in a week. We would want the same if the shoe was on the other foot. I've no love for Tyrone they still give me nightmares but this is a much bigger issue.

Memo to Kerry team preparing for semi final against Tyrone - Beware a wounded animal.
Be sure that the League result still rankles with them and whilst the disparity in scoring and skill in that match is unlikely to be overturned - whenever we meet - Tyrone will not be coming to Croke Park as a bunch of invalids.
Conflicting and contradictory reports coming from them could be interpreted as an attempt to distract our preparations and whilst some of their panel may be suffering from Covid unless it is specifically and transparently confirmed how many members of their first fifteen - and subs - are involved , then we should take all their hand wringing with a huge dollop of salt.
This is a huge match for Kerry - one step away from a chance to reclaim Sam - and all that follows , for this young skilful vibrant team and the mantra must be FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS .
We have history with Tyrone so forewarned is forearmed .

Commentators, pundits and administrators need to understand that the uncertainty impacts two teams and the narrative cannot just be about "poor Tyrone" - the delay and uncertainty has an impact on Kerry and as we all know lengthy layoffs between games can be detrimental to teams who can be gone off the boil.
Games are never rescheduled for injuries or player availability in normal circumstances - the 6 day delay of the SF to assist Tyrone is a major concession and acknowledgement of the difficult times we are going through. One such delay per county in the latter stages of the competition should be it.

Win or lose we’d like to play Tyrone at their full strength we don’t want any excuses afterwards if they need another week then maybe the Gaa should accommodate them . Also it’s possible that there is someone very sick in the camp just don’t know enough really but that’s where the Gaa authorities need to figure out.
Keeping in mind that Tyrone famously moved the sidelines in significantly to play Dublin a few years back hope they are not trying to move the goal posts this time !

As I said the temptation might be too much, so here I'm back, went to the Bishop and changed my name to boot!
While I'd respect Tyrone as much as anyone, and sure we owe 'em a few, they will not be ready this year regardless of how many weeks. What people forget is that the ramifications at semi -final level are different to earlier stages - fellas are more highly tuned for a higher performance, etc.
My worry is us getting infected and the consensus is that it is widespread in their camp.
I am not a medic and unless something sinister is going on, we must both take this on the chin with Kerry going in cold to an AI final.
I suppose what would be great would be to meet the Garda County, the real boyos in blue, and they'd be some questions asked. We'd have 'em in intensive care and we'd sure take good care of 'em - stop 'n' search, interrogation, caught in possession, speeding penalties, road blocks ala Horse 'Dangerous animal blocking Jacks Road', etc.
Remember what I said children of God, there will be a surprise somewhere along the line.
Ah sure we couldn't lose that final, sure even if Maigh Eo won we wouldn't have to be listening to 'em going on about, well 'nearlyology.' Then again we might bate 'em by a point in extra time of extra time - now that's what you'd call a suspended sentence, though the after pain ala Long Croker, with this being the 70th anniversary of that notable win, now that's some Long Pain!

Dr Cathal Collins is a microbiologist in Cavan-Monaghan Hospital and played county football for Cavan for several seasons through the late ‘90s and ‘00s. In his role he has witnessed the ravaging effects of Covid at the severe end of the scale. He believes the physical effects on players may not be hugely worrying. “The ones who are isolating because they are close contacts, they are not going to have any effect really from an energy point of view,” he explains. “I suppose the main thing is the disruption to their plans, it is coming at a very crucial time in the lead up to All-Ireland semi-final. “But the ones who are infected with Covid, there will be a range of presentation there. Some may not have any symptoms at all, all the way to the more severe end of the spectrums that we see. With the age groups we are talking about here, you are not really going to see that.” He continues: “The majority of them, if they are symptomatic, they will be mildly symptomatic. Which will obviously take a bit out of them with players being low on energy and having fatigue and so on. “It’s going to vary, some might be confined to bed and other maybe no more than a runny nose and a headache. And some may not have any symptoms at all.” Taken from www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-40356839.htmlAt least somebody has the balls to say it. I was listening to those numpties Ger Gilroy and John Duggan this morning. Even if the all Ireland has to take place in December again we should wait was the message. Without a thought for the 99.9% of GAA players in the counties who remain in the competition.

3pm is a great slot, people can be home for about 9 or 10. I can't see it being moved again because people will start to make arrangements again like booking accommodation and time off work and the GAA won't want to cancel again if they can help it.

I would have had no issue if it were pushed a week but the decision is made now and they can’t change it again. Tyrones preparations will have been damaged but they will still field a full strength team.

Delighted that the match is timed for 3pm. It means an old codger can get home at a respectable time.
The microbiologist , quoted by Buck, simplifies the situation and makes a lot of sense to me. In essence he seems to be saying that the greatest problem for Tyrone is their match preparation has been impacted and not the debilitation of their players. Of course our preparation has also been stymied but not to the same extent. Let us get on with the match now on the 21/08/21 . I expect Tyrone to be firing on all cylinders . The time for sympathy is past. Up and at them.
