A Kerry senior club team should be beating a Waterford intermediate team. It's not that strong of a grade. Crotta beat Waterford opposition last year so expect Abbeydorney to do the same.

Kilgarvan playing in Munster this weekend too. No chance they would go senior for 2025 I suppose.
Apparently Dr Crokes are dropping back to intermediate next year.

Its a pity if Crokes drop down to intermediate. I dont think Kilgarvan have the panel numbers to play senior hurling

It would be great if Kilgarvan get a Munster championship win under their belts the weekend. They will be up against it though missing 2 of their main players that played in Intermediate final. Also if they got Donal O Sullivan to commit again it would be a huge addition

Its a pity if Crokes drop down to intermediate. I dont think Kilgarvan have the panel numbers to play senior hurling Crokes have found it tough the last few years at senior level. Last year was Kilgarvans year to go up. Although it's not really much good for hurling if they just keep winning the intermediate every second season.

Crokes were very competitive with Kilmoyley this year in the championship, and id say that is mostly because they were at home for that game. If you want to give them some chance to compete they should have one home game in killarney each year instead of having to go to tralee for every game, but in fairness all clubs should have one home game in the groups.

Also if they got Donal O Sullivan to commit again it would be a huge addition O’Sullivan Down wanted to transfer to the Kenmare footballers and then the Kilgarvan hurlers voted against him 53% to 47% not to come back and be allowed hurl with them. He would be a huge addition to them tomorrow but unfortunately it is not to be.

Also if they got Donal O Sullivan to commit again it would be a huge addition Kilgarvan have had some good performances in this competition over the years, they got to the final one year. That is over 10 years ago now at least In more recent times, they lost narrowly to Clare team called Banner. About 2 years ago it was. However they had John Mark Foley at centre back then and he is now hurling with Portlaoise and they had Donal Down who was outstanding in the forwards. Without them had to see Kilgarvan getting a win , but hope I wrong

I agree with you re home advantage for Dr Crokes for one group match, the county hurling champioship needs to be brought outside Tralee and North Kerry occasionally

Until they sort themselves out at underage they're going nowhere in the long run anyway. More needs to be happening underage in Crokes alright. They are trying - had an U13 team this year and have a few playing under 15 and minor with Firies However, more than that is needed to sustain a senior team, presently too dependent on people from other counties moving into killarney and east kerry Underage hurling in Killarney and East Kerry is too fragmented - Dr Crokes, Firies, Rathmore all trying but none of them really have the numbers to have a vibrant under age structure. Kind of needs just one underage club for the region

St Brendans v Ballyduff in the under 21 hurling semi final next weekend promises to be a great match. Huge rivals having played in several minor finals against each other in recent years and last years under 21 final
some great young talent in both teams

St. Pats, Crokes and Rathmore are better off in the long run forming an East kerry or some other name. Firies could be an option for Mid Kerry. What never worked with the South Kerry team in the championship in the 2000s was there was too much of a spread of teams. You had Stacks all the way to Kenmare and was very going to work.

Kilgarvan well beaten in Tipperary. The lack of a dependable free taker cost them scores but they wouldnt have won anyway. Its difficult for them to make any headway with lack of matches and when your best player for what ever reason doesnt play

The missed frees and a penalty would have made a game of it in the end. No competitive game since late July really showed. The South Kerry Championship could surely have been ran off to help them.

Are there too many clubs in the Kerry senior hurling championship? Carlow who are a rival county in hurling operate with 5 clubs in their senior championship and 5 clubs in their intermediate championship. While 3 or 4 clubs might not be comfortable with the idea of intermediate championship, the winner could compete well in the Munster Junior championship.

The problem isn't too many clubs it's the clubs, at every grade, play each other too much. Between North Kerry league and championship and county league and championship teams could play each other 6/7 times. Both Crokes and Kilgarvan in the last have played in the Duhallow league. Imo North Kerry teams should look to do something similar. Definitely in the past Carlow clubs were playing in the Kilkenny league.

Made no sense to not play the South kerry championship. It must have been close to three months since Kilgarvan won the intermediate and I can't imagine they played too many games since.

If there could be a link in with Limerick when it comes to the league maybe. Hurling had 10 senior clubs this year. Football only had 8, which will be increasing to 10. Only 3 first team clubs competed in the intermediate hurling championship this year. It just seems 10:3 is an imbalanced split of the 13 first team clubs.

Big win for O Dorney in Waterford although they nearly left it after them with some woeful wides Oisin Maunsell hit a magic winning point. Mike O Leary and Stephen Egan had great moments lets hope tweek can get those three at least involved.

Fair ironic Abbeydorney playing a team called Bricky Rangers considering their football history up to the mid-90's.
Some achievement though, fair play.

There was a West Munster League at one point. But went nowhere and the Kerry clubs just ended up playing against each other as the teams from Limerick etc just gave walkovers.

It was a fantastic match - great hurling played by both sides Jason Fealy stepped into the goals instead of Bohane and did very well. The O'Dorney backs as always defended well as an unit ensuring no goal conceded The wides! If O'Dorney has lost they would have been guilty of throwing it away owing to them wides superb character shown by them and the O'Dorney panel was well tested also having to go deep into the bench to see this one out after extra time and oh what a match winning score by Oisin Maunsell!

Someone who lives in the city but is from or played with a county club their children can play with that club in either code and also play with a city club. Mark Collins is the same he played hurling with Douglas and football with Castlehaven.
