Gough is the man that would sort out Mayo, they are filthy off the ball (not to mention all the diving) and all refs turn a blind eye to them, Gough wouldn't be long dishing out cards to them.
Yesterdays result was as much about a complete and utter system failure from an inexperienced team than anything else, 2 goals in 3 minutes and as soon as second goal went in the heads were fully gone. If memory serves me right ye did something similar to Dublin in 09 and 2 years later they won the all ireland.
Push up on their kickouts and ye are halfway there, their keeper is not great at short kickouts. The first day out we had runners coming from deep and off the shoulder and we punched holes in their defence time and time again, we didn't do any of this yesterday.
I sincerely hope that you hammer them and wish you luck in your quest.

I would go 1 Kelly 2 Young 3 Griffin 4 Enright 5 Crowley 6 Morley 7 Murphy 8 Moran 9 Barry 10 O'Brien 11 Buckley 12 Lyne 13 Geaney 14 Donaghy 15 O'Donoghue We need pace and scores from the half forward line to win this one. Jack Barry to play a sweeper role. We need to plug that gap in the midfield half back area. I would tell Buckley to play around the midfield area with Moran. They will probably play two around Donaghy anyway. Maher Donnacha Savage Darren McCarthy Barry John and either Geaney or a back as needed.

nacrocaigh! Sorry, I have not a clue how to cut and paste!
Good team! Yes! Kerry need to play the game at speed and at a high tempo from the start! Buckley is a great outlet for our own long kick outs. On Mike Geaney. He appears to be able to make him self available for kerry kickouts on the sidelines, he is good when on form to put in tackles, makes himself available to the kerry players coming out of defence. I guess my question is would you not see a need for a player who runs all day and links up well such as Geaney or McCarthy as Mayo will surely concede the kickout to Kerry at times during this game!

If Shanahan is playing anything like he was in the league final he must be a strong contender for no 2. It is a toss up between Barry & Maher to partner Moran. The full forward line is written on stone. Tactics and "horses for courses" apply to the half forward line. I don't think O'Brien will start. Eamonn won't want to show the energy he brings to the attack. He may be brought on to keep him ticking over when the effect will be put down to fresh legs. Lyne sometimes tries to do too much work and ends up being a bit of a headless chicken. Buckley will almost certainly be centre forward. So its McCarthy and Darran on the wings I think if they are fit.

Dingledude posted yesterday:-
"Kerry will not be complacent, but we need to reach 80-90% to see off Mayo, their full back line are suspect under the high ball, Cafferkey replaced by Vaughan today, but Vaughan is not a full back, Donaghy to nail him up on the crossbar, and beat seven shades outa him. Roscommon panicked and played like a division 2 team they have become, they were never serious contenders. Mayo at their best will only give us 35 minutes of a warm up game to prepare for the ?Dubs?"
The brain and the mind of the beholder of these assertions! Do they even require sentences to refute? Probably not.

Was Lyne injured for some time?
On what past performances at corner forward against good defenses are ye picking JOD?
He did well in the 2014 final as a provider further out the field.

Seriously lads, this idea of dropping Donnchadh Walsh for Jonathan Lyne is a non-runner to me anyway.

Our posters from Mayo and Roscommon are welcome if they engage meaningfully on the upcoming match.
It takes just a few seconds to delete an account and I will do if needed.
To paraphrase John B Keane, being on the Kerry GAA Forum carries an "awsome responsibility".

Most people on here being from Kerry can sort of lead itself to a confirmation bias at times. Great to see our friend Mayo4Sam has become very active again once Kerry and Mayo was confirmed. You have a short memory on James performances at corner forward in big games. 1-3 from play in drawn semi in 2014. 4 points from play in replay. Marked by Keith Higgins both days. 3 points from play in 2015 final when marked by Johnny cooper.

Higgins was considered the best corner back in the land that time and JOD rotovated him twice. The Mayo back line that day will have four or five of the same players it had that day next weekend. If they were not a good defence in '14 I don't know what they will be now because their defence has been very poor by their standards in this Championship.

Basically any team that James has played well against will not be counted by some as a good defense. James has played very well against mayo and Dublin. That will do for me.

I'm not saying he is bad player, far from it. But he, like any player will struggle to impose himself against a massed or blanket defence. He was held scoreless in the 14 final. (I know he was played out the field, but, that was because he would be wasted inside against the massed defence.) Against Tyrone in the 15 semi he didn't score form play either when he was playing closer to goal. Against a massed defence it your half forwards and half backs that will do the heavy lifting from play. And in our case throw Donaghy in there was well. But Mayo for all the talk of tightening up are still porous at the back and hopefully if he's fit the game should suit James. They

Nolan is a poor Ref from what I saw Monday, of course he was not the reason for the result but he couldn't wait to give easy frees to Mayo, didn't see mayo pulling and dragging off the ball which getting back to my original post is that Gough seems to be the only one who sees this, as he has close ties with Dublin he may well be in the frame for this game, hopefully he gets it as this game will need a good ref. Nolan also missed a double hop in lead up to first goal, these are not the fundamental mistakes you expect a top ref to make.

An inside line and James, KD and Geaney will put the fear into any management who will drop at least 2 sweepers allowing Buckley, Moran, SOBrien etc to pick off scores. Fitzy played a clearly unfit James v Galway to keep the defence occupied, not for his output on the day. Mickey Harte was years ahead of his time when he picked Stephen ONeill back in 08 (or 05?) when he was totally unfit. Kerry matched our best defender (Marc) on him and ONeill basically trotted around Croker keeping Marc away from the play while Muggsy and Canavan made hay. How Mayo deal with and set up for the 'Potential' threat of our full forward line will in my view decide the outcome of the game.

They Being able to fetch over your head is essential against properly organised good defenses. JOD could create mayhem when the game opens up as a sub. If he is to start he should be in the half forward line in my view. He has a forwards instinct to look to score albeit sometimes he should find a better placed colleague in a better scoring positon. On a separate note, Aiden, Declan and Marc are gone since the 2014 game. Thats a lot of steel and bloody mindedness to have lost ......not to mention their footballing ability.

Vaughan did not play fullback last Monday, Harrison did so don't expect Vaughan to be on Donaghy. Mayo are so fearful of Donaghy anything is possible. Their supporters are talking of putting Barry Moran on him and going by past experience their management are capable of the absurd even to the extent of putting Seamus O"Shea on him. He will occupy two of their players full-time if he is left in full forward. Bring him out around midfield against Galway was a decoy for game(s) ahead.

Hi Kerry fans. Looking forward to renewing battle with ye on Sunday week. The Roscommon performance showed Mayo are still capable of putting in a very strong running game all be it against an opposition that had a systems failure.
I think the slate needs to be wiped clean. Both Kerry and Mayo have vulnerabilities that both teams will look to exploit. Kerry are favourites and rightly so but this Mayo team will believe they can win.
There is no point in harping back to Limerick, it's in the past and I don't think the mayo team can go into this game with revenge on their mind. It must be total focus on the job and its a stepping stone to another final.
Kieran Donaghy strikes fear into every Mayo fan because he has done untold damage to us over the years. My opinion is a plan but be made for him but we need to be weary of the threats elsewhere....Buckely, David Moran can supply ball into Geaney and JOD with just the same devastating effect.
My first ever game in Croke Park was the 1996 semi final and I am just hoping that 21 years later we can finally beat ye again but it's not about beating Kerry for me....its about finally winning that much craved All Ireland title.

Mayo man here. I thought mayo were dead and buried after the first day vs Galway but last Sunday changed my view on mayo. Firstly I think both teams have weaknesses and currently would rank both considerably behind Tyrones impressive system and Dublin power, pace and athleticism. THE mayo Full Back is a huge concern. Everyone knows there are only 4 teams in for a shot at the all ireland and mayo knew if they are to win it the would have to beat kerry and donaghue at ff. Our manager is tactically very weak. He should have played the man to mark donaghue for the last number of weeks and not just throw guy in there and hope for the best. Mayo also are weak when you run at them down the middle but so too are Kerry. Mayos half back line is are strongest line and all our attacks will come from them. I feel however the Kerry half forward line is the weakest line in the kerry team. They are not very creative and are not mobile. Donnacha Walsh to me is not a Kerry footballer and when he couldn't catch the Galway half forward who ran on Kerry goal the last day shows he hasn't the legs either. Both teams have weaknesses mayos forwards if the ball is kicked long lack the pace to get out in front but if mayo run the ball every time I think mayo will win. I think Barry Moran will mark the big man with Higgins or mcglouglin going in as sweeper. The kickouts will also be crucial.

Mayo's first of their 7 semi-finals in a row was against Kerry in 2011. They showed alot of promise that day but Kerry were miles ahead in experience, conditioning, and forwards. Mayo did well to make a game of it.
The fourth one was the epic draw and replay in 2014. At the time I just couldn't believe they allowed Kieran Donaghy to waltz through for those scores, there was real defensive naivety. In hindsight they had been down to 14 after a sending-off for quite a while. Teams down a man for a while in such big contests tend to tire in the last 5-10 minutes. So some benefit of the doubt there.
In the replay, which was a chaotic game, alot was made of bad luck such as the head clash. I believe it was no bad luck at all, the two players were not being switched on and aware, you could see it happening from a mile off. Kerry closed the game out, just about. They got the big scores to get ahead when needed. As for the ref, there were so many incidents in the game it's impossible to summarise.
At the time it seemed like a nail in the coffin for Mayo, yet here we are three years later, with them having been much closer to winning Sam since. So how do the teams now compare to 2014? Kerry have had quite alot of changes, Mayo are now the more experienced team. Mayo still don't have forwards to win the game on their own virtually but last year they appeared to have cracked a much better defensive system. Kerry now have PGeaney as one of the best forwards in the country, as well as JOD. He is devilishly hard to mark. Donaghy's still there but getting on a bit. DOS can still do a job.
The middle area is probably advantage Kerry because Moran will score, against Kerry AOS may well not. But Aido looks to b having his best year, so far. This will ultimately seal his reputation one way or another, if he can be effective for 60 minutes, which will mean setting up a good few scores.
I think there will be quite a bit of aggro, but I expect an epic battle. If Mayo win it could well just be the mental barrier that this team needs to break through to win Sam. BUt will they have the sort of intensity of effort they gave in 2014, and last year's All-I Final? If not they will lose because Kerry will bring it no matter what. Mayo could well be too tired to take this to the wire.
