Look, GAA is always a bit lawless and alwsys has been and to be honest its part of the attraction but some things are simply not acceptable like McGee today against Fitzgerald.
McGee got a few smacks into the nose and he didnt like it either. Fair play to Alan Fitzgerald for administering summary justice

Fitzgerald should appeal the red card on self-defence grounds. Had to do something or McGee would have broken his hand.
Sneaky f*cker went straight whinging to the umpire too.

If Dublin win all their matches and Down lose all their could some team get relegated on 6 points?

I think i am right in saying that Colms point at the end was Kerrys only "kicked" point from play all day.
Can anyone recall another attempt from a point from play by Kerry from the boot.
Donnacha punched three points.
Donegal were a lot better than Kerry at this facet of the game and three attempts came back off the post.

BTW, what was Daly put off for? Yeah no-one around me in the crowd had a clue. Enright was a correct decision on the black card - although it should have been a free for charging prior to Enright ending up on the ground. Would be interesting to do a count of how many times Donegal didn't retreat 13 metres for the free. A good one to win.

It was safety first when it came to scores today and I for one am happy with that approach. Every score was hard won and glad to note that Kerry cleared all those efforts that came off the post. Bryan Sheehan is immense.

Sheehan had one miss from a poorish angle and a long distance on the wrong foot and I think that was Kerry's only wide........

We have zero chance of winning the All Ireland if thats the case. Just askin..

I think conditions and the Donegal defence played a large part - Kerry were poor enough in the first half with the wind and didn't really even create shooting chances. I wouldn't be worried about it long-term.

Great win but not enjoying watching Kerry and football in general these last few years.
This hybrid of basketball and rugby league is not the game we loved growing up. Kerry with all 15 in our own half playing with the wind. Ok adapt your style but don't surrender your rich heritage in the process. Set the standards and force others to change and don't lower your standards to meet those of those whose intention is to destruct, not create.
McGees attempt to deliberately break the fingers/ thumbs of an amateur opponent does not belong in our games. No more rule changes required, just impose the appropriate sanction.
The continuous goading of the officials and a blatant attempt to provoke a reaction from Sheahan that would see him dismissed was unsavoury. Although he did react, the ref was wise to what was going and he remained on the field , allowing his free taking talents to have the most significant affect on the result.
The Donegal 'runner' must have covered over 10k with his continuous intrusions. Can they not just let the players cross the white line, suitably prepared and coached and let their skills and decision making dictate the result. These 'high profile' coaches/ selectors don't seem prepared to let the players take the spotlight and diminish them with their continuous instruction.
Finally it was ironic that the last of the Jedi was the only Kerry player to record a kicked point from play. The game we loved is dead and a terrible beauty is born.

From an individual players perspective: I still think Kelly's kick outs arnt great, especially into the wind in the second half, the wind seemed to kill them Marc was reliable enough in the corner once he switched over to McBrearty While Griffin did a decent job shadowing McBrearty, there is always that nagging feeling that there is a mistake in him, easily outfielded for the goal for example Enright was correctly black carded Thought Crowely was very good, thundering into tackles and matched the physicality of the Donegal players Mahoney is crucial for these tough league games, his experience and power are key to the defence Fionn while looking comfortable on the ball when given a bit of time to play his passes can get swallowed up by the strength of other players Sheehan oozed class all day and that free in the second half defied everything I thought I knew about free taking into that kind of wind Donaghy was strong and physical around the middle although he can be clumsy in the tackle Denis Daly received a black card and have yet to see the explanation, if anyone could enlighten me I would be grateful Paul Murphy probably didn't get as much of a chance to show what he could do going forward after Alan Fitz getting sent off but offers a good outlet when he is up there Donnacha set the example again in terms of work rate and picking aggressive lines of running Darren threaten when he got the ball but it wasn't an inside forwards day Alan Fitz was foolish to lift his hands even though he was being provoked but will thank his teammates that all the scrutiny isn't on him Stephen o Brien pretty much the same day as Darren Subs: Colm Cooper finished with a good point and controlled a lot of play but will have been fuming with that misplaced pass for the goal Podge Connor was the pick of the subs, driving forward and showing good skill throughout Barry John finished his point well Johnny Buckley assisted that Barry John point but didn't see much other ball Pa Kilkenny didn't see much ball as he came on and off for the often bleeding Marc Sé Brendan Sullivan won a good break and offered good athleticism

Delighted that none one of our boys backed down from Donegal. Alan Fitzgerald did the right thing and the McGees are known for that dirty trick.
Daly and his man were at each other off the ball on the terrace side. Both pulling the other's jersey. Linesman flagged Daly for it.
I was happy with the defence but Kelly really should've cleared the high ball for the goal. It was in the air long enough. However it was caused by Cooper's sloppy ball in the first place.
Donnchadh Walsh and Peter Crowley were immense.

Spot on Greengold35 re McHugh. He was a disgrace on the sideline all day i thought right behind where i was on the terrace. He was contantly abusing the linesman on that side about calls that the referee was making. Was constantly encroaching on the field of play to berate the referee, and had to be sent back down to his dugout on numerous occasions by the assistant referee. Worst of all i thought though was the tirade of abuse he fired at Alan Fitzgerald as he passed the Donegal dugout after being sent off.....Hassett had to restrain Fitzgerald. Shocking behaviour by a manager i thought

Thought the ref had a tough job with all the crap going on but still made some baffling calls. Enrights black card? He gets charged to the ground and then the offender runs over him, what was he meant to do?
How many neck high tackles went in and no black card by Donegal?
An ugly game but we had to win. Sheehans frees were quite clearly the difference.
Dont think the mark would have done much in a game like today for anything.

The ref was correct to show yellow as he was for Donaghy's high tackle.

Great character shown by Kerry at 7 pts apiece against the wind. Wasn't looking good at that stage. Should give them great heart for the games ahead.

It amazes me how deluded some Ulster people are. I've seen some of them actually trying to justify Mcgees actions today and claim Donegal were somehow the victims.

The Enright incident was straight forward. He went to shoulder Murphy and got wiped out, then when he was on the ground he grabbed Murphy's leg with two hands and tripped him. I watched it back because Enright looked to be letting on to the ref that he was protecting his face but he wasn't.
Would not be crying much about the opposition goading when we have Mahony spending all day at it.
Very good win, good to see the team not backing down when asked hard questions, great to see Crowley playing well.

Also would not cast any negative light on Alan Fitz throwing his digs, looked like he panicked when he realised what was happening to his hand. Stopping yourself getting fingers broken it's ok to take any measures IMO, more important than the outcome of a game by a long way.

Fully agree with you here, when Ulster teams are involved in games, with the exception of Down and Cavan, there seems to be nothing but trouble and that's no coincidence. It's like the games become lawless and I pity the referees having to ref that because there is just so much going on. Look at Kerry's games so far in the league, I was in Croker for the 1st game against Dublin and there was no senanagins, I was in Kilarney for the Roscommon and again played in good spirits albeit terrible conditions. Watched Down on TV and the same, but today, although I only seen it on the TV, that 1st half especially was off the wall. McGee after the incident couldn't help himself having a cut off Alan Fitz and then Gallagher the manager having a cut off him, the man got sent off leave him alone. Another thing I found watching it on TV was the late (hit, shoulder, push) on the player with possession of the football, or as I call it the "follow through". Anyway we won that's the main thing, 2 more tough battles on the road next, 1 win will do us hopefully. It'll also be very interesting to see how Donegal conduct themselves against Dublin.

Referees see matches again and if they were fooled, there will be consequences for the culprits, e.g. little sympathy in future games. No ref likes to be misled in front of crowds and it doesn't help him get the big games that he strives for.
Umpires and linesmen are easier to fool and relent easier to pressure from players and officials who often round on them. They report it to the ref who in the heat of the moment thinks they saw it and he acts accordingly, when it was what they were told, a one sided exaggeration. I wonder if officials are mindful of this and we have all seen the consequences when they aren't.
I suppose the cause of the highly-charged affair today also had something to do with the small matter of the '14 All Ireland final that 'we stole' and along with the other 36 and sure 'tis understandable. Monaghan did the same to us if you remember a good few years back when we had a long rest and met them coming in the back door on a high with plenty of game practice. Like today they woke us up and probably for that reason we won.

Left the park cold and wet but worth it. A great win.
Donegal are some shower of thugs.I thought they were playing with 13 men for the first half, very strange follow up to the first Red it looked like two were sent off.
