I cant see Derry getting two awards. They were very poor in Ulster against Antrim & Monaghan, took no major scalp in the qualifiers (unless you call Mayo at home a scalp) and played like they never believed they'd win against Dublin. But you'd never know, given the selection committee.
By the way the programme is on at 7pm on RTE1. Its not on later on RTE2 cos of some league of ireland game.

Derry beat Armagh and Mayo

I would argue that Derry beating Armagh this year wouldnt be classified as a major scalp. Derry would beat Armagh every 2nd time they'd play them in the championship anyway.

All-Stars have been announced apparently... Clux M O Se(player of year) Canty McCloy T O Se O'Mahony Cahill O se Whelan A Brogan D o Sullivan Bray Gooch Bradley Freeman Sounds about right to me..... The team is always picked at the same time as the hurling team and has an ability to leak out the morning of the All Stars. If all three brothers get it, it will be a fantastic achievement for them and for the family.

Would have no objections if that were the team from a Kerry viewpoint.
Young is unlucky but on the otherhand O'Mahoney has got one based on the final mainly so they tend to cancel out.
The only other Kerry player with a gripe would be Star but both Bradley and Freeman had great years so again not many complaints.

If Kilkenny only got hurling awards you can be sure thats the maximum number we'll get. I'd still have the Meath Murphy in goals and I'd also have one of Fay, Henry or Gormley in the full back line ahead of McCloy.

Kieran had a good season, but as he said himself coming up to the All Ireland, he hadn't delivered as much as he did last year and wanted a big All Ireland to get over the worry of not delivering on year two hype. He did, but not to All Star extent.
He had good moments, particularly a few minutes against Cork and the Dublin game in particular, but not sure he was All Star material?

He'll get the young player of the year award but the attitude seems to be if a player gets that award it makes up for not getting an all-star which seems nonsensical as I suspect most would rate an all-star award as the greater honour.

I would give Young an all star instead of O'Mahoney and move Tomas to no 6 where he played the final. Do you think Kerry's entire half back line should be all-stars?

Cluxton O Se McCloy Canty O Se O Mahony Cahill Whelan O Se Bray O Sullivan Brogan Cooper Bradley Freeman
Joke, joke, joke the same as usual. Cluxton cost his team dearly unlike the 2 Murphys yet he gets the allstar. McCloy wasn't as good as Fay yet he's selected. Cahill was cleaned out against Kerry yet Gormley and Young are overlooked. Whelan wasn't Dublin's best midfielder and might as well have been sitting at home watching the Kerry game while Ryan carried him. Bray is shut out against tyrone in the second half and wiped out by the Cork lads yet is selected out of place ahead of Galvin and O Connor. Meanwhile Bradley plays one good game in the year against Dublin and even in that he blew a chance that any decent footballer would have scored from to equalise. Donaghy was consistently good all year but sure why should that matter? Fair play to Young and Marc O Se for their player of the year awards, just think if Darragh had got the player of the year last year as he should have then all the boys would have a player of the year award!

brendan murphy, killian young and kieran donaghy should have got all stars.
kerry have won three all irelands by a combined total of 33 points in the last four years, each time they have won two all stars in attack, that dosnt add up,tyrone won one all ireland in the same period by one kick of the ball, yet got four all stars in attack, one of them being a sub.
congrats to the three o se's,what a fanstastic footballing family, they would do you proud, its spine shivering to hear them in their native tongue, the se's including paidi, "a collective gem of kerrys footballing folklore".
nine allstars for the brothers, marc and tomas footballers of the year, darragh screwed last year,12 all-ireland medals between them.
paidi 8 all-ireland medals,5 or 6 all stars,managed kerry to two all-irelands.
says it all really, the heart and soul of kerry football.

Great to see a defender being recognised over attackers. Delighted for Marc.
Scanlon deserved an all star before Dara......... Over the championship, Young was better than Tomas.
Donaghy was simply awsome and should have been in the running for player of the year. The fact that was overlooked makes a shambles of the whole thing.

Scanlon did not deserve an all star. He only played 3 games. Glad for Darragh. Young should have got an all star but at Mahony's expense not Tomás. Star was not in running for best Kerry player of year (well behind Marc, Gooch, Declan, Killian) never mind national player of year. He was good don't get me wrong but someone has to lose out. For me it was an ok team except for Cluxton winning and Young not. At least Young got young player of the year.

I can't remember who won the award in the last two years but I remember the Fermanagh goalie winning it in 2004

What a joke ... Dublin lose in semis and get 5 all stars... Cork play in final and get one player.
Stephen Cluxton is the greatest robbery of all time. Brendan Murphy was stick on for goalkeeper of the year.. Dublin journalists again..
The all stars have officially lost all creditability

What a joke ... Dublin lose in semis and get 5 all stars... Cork play in final and get one player. The two best teams were Dublin and Kerry. Dublin got 4 all stars not 5. The system gave us two bad finals in hurling and football. I though Cork were lucky to get the one they got. Only Donncha o Connor had any sort of case in my book.

I was away when we did the numbers at skool!!! As for cork whats your opinion of Nicholas Murphy?? I know he didnt play at all well in the final... but you could make the same case for a lot of players... Cluxton over Brendan Murphy?

Kerry deserved at least 8 places on that team. Some of the selections were questionable at least, a case of friends backing friends by the looks of it. Maybe if Kerry win 3 in a row next year they might stretch as far as 7?
