Happy out with the team. Well done Sean. We all know what Darren is capable of and will come on when some older defenders are too tired to keep up. I'm sure he'll notch up a couple from play when push comes to shove. But Seans speed is a big indication of intentions alright. It gives us more than just the high ball option.

We know exactly what we will see from Armagh?
What will we see from Kerry?
1. Can we break even or better at midfield? 2. Can we curb Clarke and McDonnell? 3. Can we cut out the silly frees we are giving away? 4. Can we get good ball in Donaghy? 5. Can the Gooch spring to life when he hits Jones Rd? 6. Can MFR roll back the years? 7. How much Kerry support will show!!

Another factor is: Gooch has played his best football for Kerry in Croke Park. He has not always played his best against Cork in Munster in Cork or Killarney but he has done well against them in Croker. The same goes for other teams. If you list his best performances over they years they are usually in Croker lets hope the trend continues. The big stage brings out the best in him.

I am hoping the way that the team is picked is an indication that Kerry intend playing there own way against them. The selection of Sean Sullivan is a sign that we have moved on from the 'working half forwards', 'mass defence' bullsh*t that was around before last years final. I came out of Croker last year thinking that we we had tried to play Kerry football we would have won hands down instead of trying to break tackles, forwards playing as backs etc. I just have a nagging feeling that this change has come too late. A few have posted about a settled team. I have never seen a more unsettled kerry team in all my years and it may just work against us. Then again we have the element of surprise as we ouselves don't know how it will work! Scream on the team! i'm just trying to be positive about the game seamus,if i said what i really felt about the last twelve since last years munster final it wouldn't go down too well in certain quarters. i agree that the changes might have come too late,if had them in place since the later stages of this years league i would be quite confident going up to croker on saturday. But you never know,we still could win it,fingers crossed.

i'd say there could be a lot of breaking ball coming out from the edge of the square on sunday,it might suit brosie and fly tearing in on to pick it up.
i heard donaghy stubble has grown 4 inches since last saturday.

One final word from my side of the pond and one to get you all thinking tomorrow. In 1986, Kerry's greatest moments came to a fitting end in Croke Park, winning our second three in a row inside of ten years and our 8th All Ireland in 11 years. We weren't seen in Championship action again in Croke Park until 1991 when Down put us to a rusty '60's style sword. We re-emerged in 1996, blinked, dusted down the jersey and went from there. 1996 - 2006 Games played in Croke Park: 21 Games won in Croke Park: 13 Games drawn in Croke Park: 2 Games lost in Croke Park: 6 Years when Kerry didn't appear in Croke Park: 1999. Counties beaten: Cavan, Mayo, Armagh, Galway, Cork, Roscommon, Dublin. Counties who beat Kerry: Mayo, Kildare, Meath, Armagh, Tyrone. On Sunday, Kerry play their 22nd game in 11 years in Croke Park since the break through. That is some record for an eleven year period, and is as good as any if you consider that apart from 2000, Kerry have never played more than three games a year there. And come to think of it oddly enough, it'll be the first Kerry game played in Croke Park I've missed since 1991. That is an incredible run by any Kerry team, and just something I thought worth mentioning. Add in the often forgotten quarter and semi final league wins over Down & Laois in Croke Pk in 97 and the record is even better. This will be out 21st championship game since 96 though - some record alrite. Just hope we'll have 2 more visits yet this year.

Well done to Sean Sullivan on regaining in place on the team, his pace and power will hopefully bring another element to the forward play. I would worry about his man attacking though, if you watch the 02 final Sean's man caused a lot of havoc going up the pitch.

in relation to this game, i agree with the earlier post that this is one of the most unsettled teams weve had going into a big game. all we gained from the league was the knowledge that fitzmaurice wont do at centre forward when the ground is hard. why wasnt mfr or s sull given a decent run. seems like too late in the day to be making these type of changes. we STILL dont know our best team and we're in august.
same with tommy griffin. a very big game to more or less throw him into and presume he'll produce the goods. wouldnt surprise to mee brosnan moving out to midfield after half hour.
this uncertainty over the best team makes no sense and its a failing on the part of management.
the only we will win this all ireland is through playing above ourselves. this may happen. plenty to play for against armagh, same if cork get through and same again if its the dubs in the final. we'll know after 10 minutes on sat of kerry are going to the semis. armagh arent the force many reckon, but they still have the ability to blow our full back line apart. we can expect to see galvin and seamus picking up breaks around m/f, we'll need as many of these as possible to keep the ball away from the armagh danger men.

We need a lot of individuals to perform on Sat that have been marked apsent lately. AOM needs a big game, he has been moved around a lot and that has unsettled him. Tom Sull always plays well in croker especially when marking a better oponent, same needed on Sat Tom.
As for Tomas, I don't or won't critise him. It wouldn't suprise me if he isn't man of the match on Sat. Others such as Seamus, Tommy G, MFR, Mick Mc and Murph in goal - a good performance is needed from them if we are to have any chance.
As for the supporters, I'll be there as usual, so I urge all true fans to come along as well. Sure we can have a right good bender in Mulligans afterwards.......

we got right 15 starting and darrens always there in reserve. good call by management i think. the amount of players we have on the team who could be positionally moved and not affect them is good. seamus, brosnan, donaghty, griffin can all be moved round easily to change it if its not working.

Are the mighty men and women of the forum finally going to meet up for pints? Sure ye'd talk so much football there wouldn't be an ounce of chatting up done and the lovely ladies and single men of Donegal looking at ye. (Ye can just ignore the Cork folk :-) ).

Been a while since I was on the forum. Back in North Kerry for a few weeks and was hoping to catch the lads training back in Killarney. I heard on the radio they had a light training last night but does anyone know if they are training tonight? And if so, what time and would it be in Fitz stadium or somewhere else in Killarney?

Welcome back Murhur. Any new video clips? Seamus Moynihan or Paris Hilton. We are not fussy around here!

Welcome back Murhur. A rare voice of reason returns to the mayhem. In case you missed it, we're hoping to have Darren O Sullivan in goals and Mick O Dwyer on instead of Gooch.

Havent been able to get my hands on any good kerry related videos for a while. But if a vhs tape from the past was to cross my way it wouldnt be that difficult to make it digital and put it online especially with gang like youtube/bittorrent handling the bandwidth. I was thinking it would be nice to convert the Golden Years into dvd format with each match/year as different scene selections.....might do that in a couple of months when I get back stateside. I wouldnt want to infringe on copyright stuff so it would be all under the table. As for P. Hilton, was she a half-forward on the Clare team in 92......did she give Moynihan the runaround? From what I heard she had a tendency to drift out of games but was always a good impact sub. I think her father was either a powerhouse fullback or else a hotel magnate?

No, he's the slipper over in Liscannor for the coursing meeting every year.
Murhur, if there's any costs associated with Kerrys Golden Years going DVD, I'd happy stump up sheckels to help with them.

Cheers Kerryman. I think I missed that switcharound allright. Dwyer might be handy in the corner....although himself and dara se have a lot of mileage on the clock.....it might be there last year!!! I suppose Darren will operate as a fly goalie with his speed?
Got a right dose of Kerry football last weekend with the Killarney match and headed over to Ennis on Sunday for the double header. Considering the last 3 times I saw Kerry playing were some of our toughest losses (01 semi, 03 semi, 05 AI), I was relieved to not witness Longford pulling one over on us on Saturday.

No bother Austinstacksabu, blank dvds are cheap and it would just be the time involved.....and that would be a labour of luv. It might have to be a double dvd since I dont think you would fit 3hrs of video on dvd and maintain quality. A good split point would have to be '82 but will have to see how that goes.
Since Im around for a while, if anyone has a vhs copy of old Kerry matches, I could make em digital and put em online. Putting them on dvd would be an option but posting them as filesharing bittorrents would also be a quick way to get them out to people. The Golden Years is a gem but having some of those Munster/All-Irelands in full would be the biz. Twould be mighty to also have all the winning speeches. I will be around the county over the next month so picking up tapes wouldnt be a problem.

Ive been trying the county board offices in tralee all afternoon but no reply - must be mayhem with lads picking up tickets. There seems to be an air of people thinking Saturday will be our final run out and so going on masse to Croker - the supporters buses are all fully booked.
Anyone know of a number i could call to get details on if there is training tonight? Maybe the number for Fitz stadium if they are selling tickets over there as well. Was hoping to bring my nephews over to see the lads being put through their paces.

Wouldnt he be much better using re-inforced steel. Preferably magnetic, which would be very therapeutic for his joints & muscles ;D

Just one more thing - Since the year 2000 Armagh have only been beaten by Ulster teams in the Championship. That includes 2 All-I finals, one semi-final, one quarter..........
