Does anyone have word on who Mickey Harte believes will win on Sunday? Is there any chance we could borrow him for a team talk... or have Cork already done that...

Was watching Eamonn Fitz last nite on news. He said he thought peaked against Kerry in June and has been surprised that they have gone a couple of levels again since then.

I'm not naive enough to read too much into it but I see that Cork have selected Miskella at No 7. which would have him in opposition to Paul Galvin. Mind games already begun?

Off the beaten track.....how many of you have been doing the usual piseogs before the All Ireland this year? After doing them all, to great delight come throw in of last years All Ireland (which we then lost!!), I've abandoned every one of them this year. Never ditch the piseogs Stacks. They may falter now and then but their overall record is excellent! Same Geansai Same overnight bag Same stop for breakfast Same pub before the game Quick prayer before throw in

Had an oddly vivid dream last night - Kerry were dominiating the opeing passages of play but could only manage a point, from the gooch. After about 7 mins it was 0-1 to 0-0 in our favour when Cork struck a goal. Mid week nightmares - AI Final week...Bring on the weekend.

Jaysus lads I've been cool as a whistling cucumber all week then this morning....BAM! The nerves have hit. Can now think of nothing else but the game.
Work is out the window. Mrs Animal will have to put up with the random distant stares into space mid - dinner.
All of a sudden Cork players who I hadn't thought much of have turned into masters of gaelic football while I'm starting to doubt our greatest exponents with no good reason.
I pass Croker every morning on the way to work and was almost afraid to look at it this morning.
Is there a support group anyone can recommend?! It's a long way till Sunday...

From Jack:
But against Cork in the replay we feel ourselves we only played for 15 minutes in the second half. We’ve a new full back, a new centre back, a new midfielder in Séamus Scanlon, and a new centre forward in Tadhg Kennelly.
“If you look back at the last 10 minutes of the replay we were almost looking in at the game, mentally making notes of what adjustments we would need to try to strengthen the team, and we set about doing that in the qualifiers. This game is now the opportunity to try it all out . . ."
Cute doesnt get a look in.

A good piece there with Kieran by Vincent Hogan.Great lines from Darragh and the text from Alan O Sulivan.
Animal pack your bags and go home for the rest of the week and climb what ever mountain is nearest to your home place and spend a few days up there soul searching, meditating and reflecting.
You'll walk up Jones road on Sunday thinking you own Hulk Hogans chest.

Feck it. I was grand until I logged in here this morning.
Just spoke to a 'friend' (fiend if you remove the 'r') from Cork and he spoke of meeting up to have the craic on the Sat night in the city and for one after the match on Sunday. Now whatever about meeting up on the Sat night, there are 2 hopes of us meeting up for one after the game, no matter who wins!
Johnnyb, heed ASabu's advice and keep away from cheese before nap time.

Johnnyb, heed ASabu's advice and keep away from cheese before nap time. Melted cheese on toast, doused in salt, is always a winner come 9 o clock though. Habits will have to take a back seat for this week I suppose!!!

Getting back to the formation of the forward line, I have been changing my mind almost on an hourly basis, God only knows what the selectors have been going through with the various permutations. For the record my current belief now is that Kerry will spring a surprise and start Kieran, just a gut feeling that's all. Then add in Tommy to the mix during the game to throw the Cork fullback line into disarray, this tactic might might be even more intimidating judging by the effect Tommy had last time out against Meath. The forward line would then read Paul, Declan, Tadhg, Gooch, Star, Darren. Then again maybe I am losing it, I know I have discounted Donnacha altogether, ah feck it I don't know what to think anymore it's the pressure you see, the pressure!!!!!!

Have had that feeling for a while too, but I just think that it would be a serious risk to start him. And after reading his interview on the articles page I think we can best utilise him from the bench. He thought he hadn't a hope of playing again this year after the Longford game and he has bursted his gut to get back to fitness. He will be jumping out of his skin on the bench ready to come on. And can you imagine the lift it will give us to see him warming up and getting ready to come in as well as how the Cork backs will feel if they see him coming on.

There was a similar debate last year re Paul Galvin. In hindsight of course he should have started. I mean when you think of it, playing against a team who use pace and pressure as key componets of their game plan we stick Sheehan and Brosnan on the wings...!
Anyway, I digress.
We know Jack wont wait as long as PoSe to ring in changes and to bring in Star but I'd still much prefer if he started. Corks training would have definitely made plans to deal with Star but from the start? Doubtful.
Start him Jack - he was flying against Longford after his long lay off. He'll hit the ground steamin!

Might be right Johnny but its a great imponderable. Its also highly possible that Declan will take Shields to the cleaners.

I wonder if the weather will be a factor in deciding if Donaghy starts. If the conditions are like they were against meath I'd be happier to see Star starting assuming he's going well in training.

Like everyone else, the nerves are really getting to me. I have done all the permutations and must have picked five different teams at this point. If it were up to me I'd start Star. That said, I believe it will be the same defence and centrefield with Paul, Tadgh and Darren O'Sull making up the half forward line and Gooch, Declan and Tommy completing the attack.
I had a dream last night that during the warm up there was a fógra....."There is one change on the Kerry Team listed in the official programme, Number 23 Kieran Donaghy replaces.............." then I woke up!
Travelling home from the big smoke tonight for a couple of days racing in Listowel and to enjoy the build up, and then back up on Sunday........ can't wait

I think its actually very simple. This would be my line up........
Galvin, Tadhg (Canty will have his hands full and won't have the freedom of the park), Declan (to give Miscalla some defending duties). Gooch, Tommy (played well one one foot against Shields in Munster Semi, Darren (rotate with Declan when necessary)

Lads ye should try being across from the water, I've tried to explain to people in my service what this game means and I just get vacant stares....Only thing keeping me slightly sane is reading the forum, even though far too nervous to even predict or add anything constructive about the game... I don't think I've ever felt this nervous before a match ever....crazy

I spoke to a lot of people over the past few days at the Listowel races regarding the match. Most of the people whose opinions I value are leaning towards Cork. A bit disconcerting.
At this stage, without the benefit of knowing the actual line out, I am leaning towards Kerry. My two main worries are the free taking and the referee. It is unusual that a referee is causing so much uncertainty before a match. I fear this unhappiness is well based. He is a self important, fussy little man. The hope is that he will referee it with an equal hand. The worry is that he could cause mayhem.

A "fussy little man" would have done us fine in 2008......... We might be champions now.
What have Kerry to lose by a ref who enforces the rules.
I would have expected that it would suit us better.
