shannon Rangers Dingle Rahillys Kilcummin/Rathmore to win
Kenmare are the latest team to pull out.....what a farce of a competition.....other teams to pull put yet i'd say....sure didn't rathmore/kilcummin pull out of the semi final 2 years ago cos they couldn't field a team.

Shannon Rgs Mid Kerry St. Kierans (If Strand Rd are'nt allowed play minors) St. Brendans
Does anyone know for sure whether or not minors are allowed play ! A fella on the GAC told me last week that minors were allowed to play again, but I was talkin to an U21 trainer a few nights ago who said they were'nt ! As ruralgaa says, its a farce of a competition !

It's a joke why did they cancel it and then put it on again without minors. All club teams will struggle to field teams and it'll ruin da competition!! Shannon Rangers Dingle Rahillys St Brendans

Anyone know the results of the games last night ?
Just heard that Shannon Rgs and St. Brendans had comfortable victories !
Heard that Strand Rd could'nt field a team !
I'll say it again the competition is an absolute shambles ! The decision makers in the county board should hang their head in shame ! No wonder our U21 county team's have been having sh1t seasons of late !

Ya rahillys couldn't field a team so I suspect that Kierans are in the draw for the quarter finals without even playing a single match!Pure shambles really! The simple truth is that the Co.board don't give a sh1t about U-21 competitions!

As far as I know 'Black' Dr. Crokes gave Ghaeltacht a walk over !
While I empathise fully with the likes of Crokes and Strand Road in relation to the ludicrous decision that prevents them from fielding their minors, I still think they should have fielded a team ! Surely they would have been able to muster 15 fellas from 19- 21 yrs ! Especially when you consider that the likes of Emmetts and Laune Rgs could do it !
The quater final draw is being made this week ! Probably on the radio tomorrow night ! Despite all the agro that has surrounded this competition since it started, it now looks like we have a fairly decent quater final line up. South Kerry and East Kerry will remain the strong favorites, as they have the biggest players pools and are least dependant on minors ! However the likes of Shannon Rgs, Mid Kerry and St. Brendans all have good outside chances !

However the likes of Shannon Rgs, Mid Kerry and St. Brendans all have good outside chances ! Apologies ! I had my wires crossed ! Its Crokes who are into the quaters ! Its an interesting enough draw ! The tie of the round is probably South Kerry V Mid Kerry, with the clash of Shannon Rgs and East Kerry, not far behind ! St. Kierans and Feale Rgs should be another good encounter, with both sides having reached semi finals of the minor in recent years ! Brendans and Crokes has the makings of a good game, but I get the feeling that Crokes are'nt too bothered about this competion ! Home advantages will play a massive role in these games and for that reason I will go with South Kerry, East Kerry and St. Kierans to advance, but I expect St. Brendans to take the Crokes ! If there is to be an upset though, watch Shannon Rgs, as they have the players !

Cheers scout! So the line up is; St.Kierans v St.Brendans South Kerry v East Kerry Interesting ties ahead! Are they definitely the semi final draws ? When were the draws made ? I was under the impression the draws were'nt made yet ! Maybe the Admin could confirm it ! Whatever the draw is, it is very hard to pick a winner ! Any one of the four sides could win it, but South Kerry would still have to be favorites ! There appears to have been a few good games last night, with some fine scoring racked up ! Its a pity the Aertel pages and Championship sections on this website are'nt been kept more up to date ! There was no mention of last nights quater finals on Aertel this week, while the quater final fixtures are'nt even on the U21 chart on this site !

Massive Massive win for The Brendans last night ! It will be seen as a surprise result in general, but anybody who has been following the U21 and minor scene in recent years will realise that this has been coming ! Great credit must go to Pat Driscoll,James Costello and the other selectors/officers for producing a team of this quality from little resources !
The majority of their players had great games, but two men I have to pick out for special praise are Daniel Doyle and Martin Ferris ! Doyler was immense through out and had Sheahan completely blotted out of the game for the period he was on ! In the second half when South Kerry were coming forward in droves, he was the rock that many of their attacks perished on !
Martin Ferris picked up a show of lose ball at midfield, especially in the first half, when he was under practically every breaking ball ! He would remind you a bit of the All Black Flanker Richie McCaw, the way he gobbles up all the loose ball at the breakdown !
Other good performances came from the likes of Francis Wallace, Stephen Mahony, the O' Neill brothers and especially Dave Callaghan and Dermot Flaherty up front !
They will play the winners of East Kerry and St Kierans in the Final ! These are two serious outfits, so the Brendans players would'nt want to get carried away with tonights victory at all !

The feeling i get is south kery ahve lost interest completely in the under 21 championship and that is one of the reasons they lost. Also why wasnt county under 21 player michael curran from waterville playing. he would be a massive loss to them? and as far as i know hes in ireland for the summer?
Having said that st brendans were very good last night. there team play was exceptional. they should win it out now i would think?
Hard luck on bryan sheehan. looks like his ankle is broken alrite. he looked to be in serious pain. Big loss for the seniors

East kerry will win it out. they might even have Stam back if they get to the final. Niall o mahony and mike murphy wont be far off the kerry senior panel next year.

I think you are being hard on South Kerry 'Knowsitall' ! They seemed very interested to me ! They had 30 players togged out, opposed to the Brendans 20 and started their two county seniors ! They responded very well to the two Brendans goals at the start of the second half and fought bravely to get back into the game, when other teams would have thrown the towel in ! At the end, most of their players were genuinely gutted !
As far as I know the second semi final is provisionally fixed for AS Park Tralee, next Tuesday night at 7.15pm ! But I stress that is not for definite !
I agree with Expert05 that East Kerry are still the favorites and deservedly so considering they have won the minor and contested the U21 final in recent years ! But its still too close to call ! All these three sides have met at minor in recent years and there has'nt been much between them ! One way or the other it will be a very interesting final !

I hadnt seen this result until I read down this post.
Great result for hte Brendans, massive credit due to them... particularly as in recent years they have struggled to even win a game at this level. With the seniors having put the Stacks out they have come on leaps and bounds this year.
I hope they go on to win the u-21's as we could do with a change....

East Kerry 0-11; St Kierans 0-08 !
Anyone at the game ? Just heard Weeshies report ! He said it was a poor enough game and that East Kerry won it because they had a better scoring spread, compared to Kierans who relied heavily on Johny Buckley for their scores ! Apparently Padraig Reidy did'nt play ! I can't believe that the Kierans agreed to go ahead with the game without their best player, especially considering South Kerry were allowed play Sheahan and Young ! Its also unlikely that Reidy will see action at any stage next Sunday !
No date has been fixed for the final yet, but I would imagine it will be sometime in early September, although the progress of Ardfert hurlers in the county championship will have a bearing on this, as there are 3 or 4 players involved in both teams ! ! Both sides will be bolstered by players returning from America, even though I would imagine that the mentors will keep faith with the players who got them this far ! Both sides have some very attacking minded players in their ranks, so I would be confident it will make for a very exciting final !
