its a hard competition age group to predict. plus sometimes divisional sides dont perform to their potential.
given south kerrys dominance in all ages over the last few years it would be hard to look beyond them.
east kerry to push them though!
the brendans could be a surprise package if they get commitment from all players and get themselves right!

East Kerry, Crokes or South Kerry I'd say.

Shannon Rangers
just look at the players at their disposal Jimmy Holly Ambrose Lanigan John Kelleher Shane Enright Kiki Mulvihill Gary Dowling Jeremy King Brendan Browne Barry O grady Giles O grady Mikie Boyle Padraig Harrington Padraig Donegan Martin AND Colin o Mahony
but if i was to narrow it down to two east and south kerry with shannon rangers as team to watch

think it will be South Kerry again..of last years starting 15, i think it was 12 that were under age again this year and saying that the had one or two that didnt start that would of on anyother team in the county..+++ one in particular could't make the team but made the u-21 panel and actually came on both days against Cork..

Yea the big two with Brendans and shannon rangers as outsiders. Three years ago these same teams met in the minor shield final in stacks park and served up a cracker with Rangers winning by a point.

The winner to come from these 4 teams:
South Kerry St. Brendans East Kerry Shannon Rangers
I would favour Shannon Rangers with Mickey Houlihan and John Kennedy over them.

Crokes at full strength will be there or thereabouts especially if they have minors available too.

The way I see it anyway, it is a bit like a 'Pyramid' ! There are Six teams in the running; the five already mentioned on previous posts (South Kerry, East Kerry, Dr. Crokes, St. Brendans and Shannon Rgs.) and Mid Kerry, convincing minor champions 3 years ago, who every body seems to have forgotten about ! South Kerry - (Favorites) East Kerry Mid Kerry - (Very Serious Contenders) St. Brendans Dr. Crokes Shannon Rgs - (Serious Contenders)
To be honest the timing of the championship will have a massive and probably the defining bearing on the destination of the cup ! If it is played in the summer, then this will benefit the likes of South Kerry who usually manage to keep all their players at home for the summer, while it would rule Mid Kerry and the Brendans out, who are likely to lose players to America ! I know for a fact that a big number of the Brendans lads will be travelling for the summer, including all their Churchill contingent !
If it is played in the Autumn, then it is anybodies, and would probably favour Shannon Rgs. and the Brendans, both of whom have fairly big teams !
When picking the winner I always go for the settled team with good organisation, and in this instance you can narrow it down to South Kerry, East Kerry and Dr. Crokes, even though the likes of the Brendans and Shannon Rgs. have copped themselves on big time in recent years !
However when push comes to shove you have to go for South Kerry, because their probably training for it already and want it the most ! But an away trip to any of the other contenders could catch them out !

dont think mid kerry will be in the reckoning
crokes could go far they have the advantage in that players will always play better if representing the club i know from playing that alot of players dont take the divisional side that seriously and some players even opt out of playing for their divisional sides south kerry seem to be the only side that can successfully run the divisional side
players will always be more committed to the club cause thats where the crokes could be dangerous aside from the fact that they also have a very talented team

Matchspy..one wud almost think that you had something against that player! is it his fault that the south kerry selectors made a wrong call, since i remember this player getting them to the final, and scoring 4points after comingon, winning the game for them, and being named man of the match...AFTER COMING ON 10 MINS INTO 2ND HALF!!! think it will be South Kerry again..of last years starting 15, i think it was 12 that were under age again this year and saying that the had one or two that didnt start that would of on anyother team in the county..+++ one in particular could't make the team but made the u-21 panel and actually came on both days against Cork..

St Brendans will be hard to beat this year if they get their act together. Got to the final of the Duhallow invitational last year playing savage football and most of that panel still underage with a few good young fellas coming through. Still hard to look past South Kerry but anything can happen.

the brendans would be hard to beat if they took it serious and had a good trainer.
the problem is the players are never committed to it and dont take it serious.
its hard to blame them though because there are usually just a selector from each club and they each just try to get as many players as possible from their own club picked for the team rather than playing the best 15 possible

south kerry will win it at there ease.have 12 from last years team taht won it out and that doesnt count mike curran who started against cork this year. his brother paddy who is probably the best underage forward in the country at the moment, killian young who was also on the u-21s this year and paul o connor who came on both days for the under twenty ones

They have done nothing with ease in the last few years and whilst talented will find the Crokes and East Kerry very tough opposition.
East Kerry will have Mike Murphy, Jimmy Falvey, Niall O Mahoney, Michael O Donoghue, Danny O Connor, Fintan Coffey, Shane Lynch.
All who have made U21s and Minor the last few years.
Crokes will have Kieran Leary, Quinn, Kennelly, Maloney, Doolin, Grady, Looney, Wrenn etc
So if South Kerry beat these teams at ease then fair play to them but I think whilst talented they will find it difficult.

theblackspot - if you read my post again and the previous posts made on the U-21 county championship all you should realise was that i was making the point that the south kerry U-21 team were particularly strong this year again..with 12 players being under age again this year and the 'fact' a current Kerry U-21 player couldnt make last years team just shows how strong they really are..no personal problems with any lad who togs out and plays football - at the end of the day thats whats its all about!!!
