I had to delete posts by someone and i had to delete yours as you quoted his/her post in reply.
The forum will end up being closed down again, like years ago, in my view, if some people don't wise up.

The reason for the default setting on new members of "probation" was to try to stop spammers who tried to hijack the site in recent years.
If any other posters are still on probation, please let us know.
Its not possible to get a list of those on probation. Its only when i spot a post that needs approval that I am aware that someone is on "probation"

Hi all Does anyone know how to make a thread on the boards Thank you Maybe you can't while on probation. For myself the top right-hand corner of the general board homepage has a "Create Thread".

Is there a way of not having to read a certain posters rubbish? Thanks. There is. On a computer press his name. Press the wheel. On option to block comes up. On a mobile go down the bottom there and press desktop and do the same as the above. It's not a perfect block but it helps.

I wonder again about the effectiveness of the probation system.
Tonight on the Kerry Video Files thread a new member has his uncontroversial posts 'pending approval by staff'.
Meanwhile, on the Minor County Championship thread, some lad with an agenda sets up 3 new accounts each questioning the integrity of a referee, and they all go uncensored!

Control I believe we have been hacked/spammed by a dose of new threads. Could possibly be that lad from Donegal that was up the tree in 2014.

Thanks for the heads up and to frankgalvintralee for the PM as well. have restricted registrations for the next few days. All regs will need to be approved for the next while until this spam storm blows over

As soon as I open the link to the forum the last few days I get a blank page apart from a 1 line message in the middle saying 'You have been banned from this forum'
Was surprised at this, especially as I had not even logged in!
Tried different devices and different browsers, but it was the same message every time.
Now I see this evening I can get on to the forum using mobile data on the phone, but still blocked when using home broadband.
Any thoughts on this. Seems unlikely the county board would be clamping down on my infrequent musings, so could my local broadband provider be banning me from the forum??!
If anyone's in the same boat let me know.

Yes a similar thing happened me. It said I was banned from the forum (without even logging in) numerous times also on different devices and then about a week later it was fine again.

I don't know why thats happening. On thing I can think of is the recycling of IP addresses. But, you couldn't access it on mobile either.
Any problems in future with logon you can email me at kerry.contol@gmail.com

For the attention of new members.
In recent years the forum has been targeted by spam merchants, all of whom were "new members". As a result, it was necessary to put in place a system whereby posts from all new members required approval for a period of time.
If you are a new member, it would help us if you alerted us to the fact that you have joined and that you have just posted on "such and such" a thread. Use this thread for the purpose of alerting us.
This will ensure that you get "full member" status quickly and all your future posts will not require approval.

You probably will be from now on especially if using chrome. The site doesn't use the ssl (padlock) so will prob get a warning when you enter anything.
Nothing to worry about really aa you are not entering anything private like credit card details etc.

Is there any link to the forum from the main site any more? If there is i can't see it.
I mean there's about 3 links to the forum at the top of the forum page, but would be nice to have just 1 on the Kerry GAA homepage.
Might even encourage some new voices to join the conversation.
And save me vital tab space in my Favourites bar.

If i missed anyone, please send me a message here or as a private message.

IMO this forum has moved into dangerous territory following the locking of the Mark O Connor thread.
Ive been a contributor to this forum for over 15 years and have never seen a shut down like this.
This forum was here a long time before twitter existed. Now the mods seem to be pandering to a very small twitterati like element. 'We don't like what we're hearing so we just shut it down'.
I feel that that best GAA forum going has just gone and shot itself in the foot.

Bad form control3 in locking the Mark O'Connor thread...just as Mark began his first journey into the play-offs.
Mark O'Connor is most definitely a product of Kerry GAA.
I count 8 posters against the thread, with about 5 regular contributors. Our own version of brexit?
As a regular contributor to the thread, I ask you to re-open it.
If it is not worthy of debate, it will fade in due course off page 1, which is the entire point of discussion boards, and not be a bother to those whose lives must be extraordinarily managed that they need to complain about any thread wasting their time.
