some of the hurling was poor at the weekend, its hard to drag ones self away from the golf when the tiger is in the grove and on his way to winning another major championship. amazing scenes of emotion after the final putt when he dedicated the victory to his deceased father, great to see such humanity in one of the world greatest sports man who is well on his way to becoming the worlds first sports billionaire. They was no head butting of opponents or challenging referring decisions there, maybe we could learn something from his conduct in the gaa world when we challenge ever refereeing decision and shamefully appeal alot of disciplinary decisions making a mockery of our games. james lawton has a good article on to-days indo about tiger woods if anybody fancies an interesting read.

Clare - amazing. Really puts Wexford & Leinster hurling apart from the Cats in perspective :PDoes anyone else feel that Waterford celebrated beating a moderate enough Tipp team just a bit too much? I mean I know they were delighted to win in Croker at last, but they are living on borrowed time with their lack of strength in depth, so they need any edge they can get - building themselves up before meeting a Cork team who will be flying to make up for the Limerick game is not the best idea I would have thought???

I was at the hurling too and wexford were so bad it was unreal......no atmosphere.
I think that the reason waterford celebrated so much was because this was the first bit match this team has won in croke park......it could be the making of them.
Waterfords goalie is weak....... could be costly yet

Was at the hurling yesterday. Clare didn't break sweat. Amazing to see Lohan and McMahon still playing blinders ditto Davy Fitz. The 2nd game was top notch. Dan the Man and Ken McGrath were outstanding all day. Is Ken McGrath hurling's Seamus Moynihan?? I thought McMahon was average at best. It's been a while since he put in a top notch performance. If he's marking Shefflin the next day it'll be curtains for Clare.

I fancy Waterford to beat Cork.....think Pat Mulcahy and the Rock could be caught for pace against Mullane and Flynn....would be great if both Cork teams were knocked out next weekend!!
Sick of listening to them non stop gloating for the past 2 weeks

The Cork hurlers are playing from memory at the moment apart from that monumental half back line

Walter_Mitty, none of the Cork football supporters came onto your forum to gloat. In fact I’m sure nobody would have blamed us if we did. We (the football supporters anyway) have the utmost respect for Kerry, and it would be nice if you had the good grace to show us the same respect. Anyone who knows anything about football know full well come next year ye could humiliate us again so if the Cork supports seem extra happy, just let us be. Also, if you took the time to read the Cork forum, you would also know that the vast majority realise that Cork were lucky to beat Limerick. (If you leave all the sliotar and other issues out of it) So if you have come across Cork people gloating, I can guarantee that that is not the general feeling in Cork with anyone with any bit of cop on.

Galway knocked out by Westmeath. I have to admit that this was a shock to me. Thought that Galway had enough in them especially at home. In hindsight I suppose the writing was on the wall with Fallon coming back in.
I still can't see Westmeath beating Dublin but am sticking with my dark horse - Mayo - to tame the Dubs and reach the AI final.

Tadhgeen........... you are assuming that Mayo will beat the winners of Offaly/Laois.............. a dangerous thing to do when we are talking about Mayo......

Yep Mickmack - Mayo have been my darkhorse all along and I'm sticking with them. I realise that their AI form is erratic but I have a feeling about them this year. I think that they are better than both Laois and Offaly.
Time will tell as the fella says.

jez lads about the hurling! Paul Flynn running the legs off Mulcahy or the rock! Still i think Waterford can beat Cork with Browne and McGrath destroying corks crap half forwards(2mccarthys). Also Mullane may unleash all that anger(in a positive way) by scoring 2 or 3 goals. And as for Dan Shanahan youd put your house on him getting a goal!
As for tomorrow im going for a Fermanagh-Laois double.
next weekend fermanagh to beat cork, kerry to beat the orange men(you know what i mean) and Waterford to beat the rebel hurlers and crack in 4-6 goals in the process. Also that Waterford goalie is solid ,better than Donal og. Also think Clare may rattle Sheflin and co.

I think that they are better than both Laois and Offaly. Time will tell as the fella says. Wow, another Mayo tipster! I didnt fancy Galway, and my money has been on Mayo as the darkest of fancied dark horses all year, its really set up for them the more you think about it. Kerry to pull it out of the fire against Armagh? Very hard to call that one. Id have to slightly favour Armagh overall............ Westmeath - hats off, shame that all Galway's promise came to nothing again. Dublin will not enjoy being huge favourites against a Westmeath team that has won alot of very hard battles, and who have one of the best defences in the country, a godd midfield, and at least 2 top forwards. They wont be afraid, they beat the Dubs 2 years ago......... Donegal came through a very tough test, and will surely play alot better agin Cork. Cork know they have to win or another year will be seen as just a Munster team and nothing else. The loss of Canty could be crucial......... Laois look like they are choking against Offaly, but again the wind in the 2nd half, they seem to do well in adversity the past 2 games. Either way, I fancy Mayo against the winners even more now. With the sticks it's do or die again for Waterford, but Cork in Croker is a whole different ballgame to Munster games. Clare, will they ever lie down? Have their younger lads finally come of age? Have Kilkenny rejuvenated themselves that quickly? They will be desperate for revenge over Cork, if they can get the chance.

I think its amazing, Westmeath have matched the Stage they got to two years ago without even a 1/20th of the hype. I think they could really put it up to the Dubs!!! Nothing to lose, EVERYTHING to gain. The Dubs on the other hand, Everything to lose! Anything other than a convincing win and the media will be all over them!!! If Westmeath can keep the crowd quite early on they have a great chance. They are my outside bet for the semi's!!

I think Cork have a decent chance, Donegal are painful to watch. Saw them put 9-10 passes together from the back they got as far as midfield and lost the ball over the side line!!! The short passing will play into Corks hands. Especially with the likes of Anthony Lynch around.

ciarrai33: Well if you were wise, you would have backed Cork. You see if Cork win, you have the humiliation of putting up with the pain of the whole thing and also losing money. But if you backed Cork, at least you’d have a few bob in your pocket to ease the burden. However if Cork lose, you won’t really care about the money because you’ll be so happy! Strange logic I know but however, you know actually makes sense!

Cork v Waterford. I think we might have a surprise here if Dan Shanahan and Ken McGrath can continue the good form of late.
Cork v Donegal. Donegal by 2 - think Cork reached their peak against us.

Have no fear austinstacksabu, Cork know there is more to football then just trying to beat the auld enemy. I know Canty will be a bit off a loss, but the other 14 didn’t play too bad against ye in the two games either.

I thought Canty was their worst back in the replay and if Colm Cooper's radar was working he'd have kicked 6 points off him.

To get value for money, I'll be staying on for the Cork vs Donegal match. I think that Cork are much too strong for Donegal. Donegal are painful to watch, so whatever the result of our match, I'll be shouting for Cork in the second one. I bet you that the Ulster supporters will support the Ulster teams and it's about time we moved on.
As for Sunday, I expect Antrim to be much too strong for Carlow. With the return of Westmeath next year, and assuming that Antrim win on Sunday, next year's Christy Ring will be fairly even. I expect Cork to man-mark both Ken McGrath (Niall McCarthy) and Dan Shanahan (probably O'Sullivan) and to win with something to spare. I think that Cork will dominate around midfield and that Corcoran will have a field day up front.
In the other football quarter finals, I don't fancy Westmeath - so I'd say that Dublin will win easy. In the other match, if Laois bring their shooting boots, they should be too good for Mayo.

moth, dan shanahan will be at no10 so that will mean sean og will pick him up. Ken McGrath is on a different planet compared to Niall McCarthy! Brian Corcoran having a field day! Are you having a laugh? As for donegal-cork a draw could well be on the cards. Carlow to shock Antrim in the Christy Ring!
