The all stars in recent times has lost its way a little dont ye agree? I think Canavan was/is a great footballer but his inclusion last year was a bit strange, and i wonder if Mulligan had'nt got that super goal against the dubs would he have got one? I thought Munnelly deserved one last year. I think its terrible that Dara o Cinneide never won one.

moynihan deserves more than 2 if canavan has 6. canavan was getting all-stars for getting out of bed the last few years. i think it was disgraceful as well that his last action as a footballer was to haul the gooch down 20 yards off the ball. completely tarnished his image in my eyes, and totally depicts what is wrong with ulster football when a talented footballer like him can be reduced to that type of 'win no matter what the cost' mentality *raises flame shield* He pulled down Cooper, it was blown out of proportion, and it wasn't dangerous. I dare say he's done worse, and it's strange that you use it as an example to bash ulster football, when you compare it to something like whelan's tackle against mayo. There's been many similar incidents this year in whats been a poor year for the northerners, and i dont agree that northern teams are win at all costs, wheras everyone else is playing for a bit of fun or something. Yez arent gonna let go of this canavan incident, it's brought up a lot. As for the all-stars comments, in 2002 he probably got one because he was the best player in the national league, isnt that pretty much a token award? In 2003, it was touch and go, but it wasnt completely ridiculous either, he was named ulster player of the year by the irish news before the final, but the final and semi-final injury took the gloss off. Hey I'm biased, but who isnt? (and in 2005 he didnt deserve it, blame the all-star selectors). I would have gave him an award in one out of 2002, 2003, 2005 years probably. Maybe i'd give him 2003, and then in 2002 Corkery should've got one, and in 2005 McGuigan. Corkery should definitely have had one in 2002 instead of cosgrove. he was exceptional that year. i never realised too that o'cinneide never got one. he surely deserves one if a crap player like cosgrove can get one.

I hope that lifting Sam in 2004 (after scoring 8 points), and speaking as well as he did on the hoganstand is worth 10 all stars to the man.
Dara Abú.

The All Stars and the player of the Year award are a joke really. Some of the picks have been ludacris over the past few years.

no way higgins should be there. Moyno has to get an All star in fairness.

That's a joke. They didn't pick Sean Og last year either and he got player of the year.
I'dve Moynihan with an all star and in witha serious shout for player of the year (although Daragh ain't far off it either). Dillon was appalling yesterday but in fairness has been good enough beforehand.
Diarmuid leaving in 3 goals put paid to his chances of getting 3 in a row.

If Moyhihan doesn't get one it will be very strange. apart from 15 minutes against Longford when Barden ran at hima few times he has been imperious this year. For me he was man of the match yesterday.

I would have Quirke ahead of Cluxton, but I suppose I might be a little bit biased....

I would have Quirke ahead of Cluxton, but I suppose I might be a little bit biased.... I certainly don't know what Cluxton has done to be everyones favourite for an allstar. But you will probably see 3 or 4 dubs in it as they are the media darlings. I think Cosgrove and Cullen will be certs and they will try to get more in. I'm not sure that there was an outstanding goalie this year though...

Kieran, Darragh, Mahoney and Star are dead certs. Paul Galvin and Seamus should get them too. In fact I think that will be our 6.

In terms of Mayo. Like us in 2002 the Dubs will probably get more than them which is madness. I thought Ger Spillane had a good year but Moyno Cullen & Mahoney should be the half back line. Marc will be one corner. Darragh and MacGarrity would be my midfield although Whelan will probaly get in there. Galvin and Donnaghy should make the forwards. You can nearly be sure Brogan will be centre forward. Mortimer will be one corner. MacDonald could be the other wing, although it will probably be Alan Dillon - I'd say one or the other of these will get All Stars. Full back line outside Marc I'm not so sure. Cluxton will probably get goalkeeper even though he wouldn't be my choice. Gooch or Clarke for the corner forward spot remaining. Although don't be surprised if its another Dub like Keaney or something.

the gooch as been very solid in the last three games,i wouldn't rule him out,i'd have him on my team any day rather than mortimer even playing badly, tom sull destroyed him.

I would too. But the 'Epic' battle against Dublin will ensure he gets one and Gooch is going to be judged against his own ridiculously high standards as opposed to how good he was in comparison to other players. I'd have him on my All Star team but not sure the idiots who decide these things will.

Should we start making our lists and see who gets closest to the actually All Star 1-15? Or we could do an old vote maybe?

Cut off for young player is under 21 I believe. If Darren was from Mayo he'd be in with a serious shout!!

I think not. It has to be your first Championship year. Gooch was U21 in 2004 and wasn't eligible. I think Donnaghy might be.

You have to be U21 and have played three or less senior championship games prior to this year.
