Not looking forward to this game at all to be honest. Expect it to be similar to the first half on Saturday but, even more cagey. I think we will win but, it won't be pretty in any shape or form. Long passages of over and back trying to work a score.

I'm glad we got Derry tbh a tough game will keep us sharp and if we can't beat derry then we have no business taking on the dubs. We won't have it as easy in this one as tyrone derry are the form team in ulster last two years and have a unique style that might take a while to figure out. I'd say David is loving the talk at the moment re chrissy mckaigue and that match up.

From that 20-22 age bracket Ruairi Murphy, Sean O’Brien, Dylan Geaney, Evan Looney, Devon Burns, Joe Linehan and Cillian Burke have all been involved with the panel at various stages this year. It’s too early to say for the 2020 minors since they were u20 this year but no one has really pushed on yet from the 18 and 19 minor groups although Ruairi Murphy has seen game time (despite not being involved at minor) and Sean O’Brien is making the 26. The 2018 crop has been very disappointing when you consider we haven’t even gotten a panelist from an All Ireland winning side. Just on the 2018 team, what is the story with Paul O' Shea? Is there a chance of him getting back on panel considering he was coming on as a sub in 2021? Feels like he could be similar to Donnachadh Walsh career wise, straight onto senior panel out of minor when perhaps he wasn't ready right away.

I see a lot of people saying the Derry are the tougher of the two teams to draw, however I don't think they have been as good since Rory Gallagher left. All the patterns of play and their style are there, but I'm not sure it's being drilled as relentlessly.
Monaghan on the other hand are a handful. There is rarely more than a couple of points either way. They stick with you till the bitter end and in the end there is Conor McManus. He's they type of player you'd bet your house on in a clutch situation.
I won't be surprised in Dublin v Monaghan comes down to the last couple of plays.

Dublin are on a misson and Monaghan won't stand in their way.

I would expect both Kerry and Dublin to win by 5+ points with the potential for hammerings, Forgetting about systems the average calibre of player that Kerry & Dublin possess is far greater than Monaghan or Derry.
The big plus for Kerry from last week was Diarmuid, it’s like we just gained a new marquee player, this is a massive boost. What I noticed is the bulk he has put on, he was a tall scrawny lad but now has filled out. I’d expect a huge amount of work has gone in to him in this regard,

Rumour has it that Gallagher still involved in the background with Derry but it's hush hush. Not sure how true it is but my info came from a Northern man. You'd have to be fairly naive to think that Gallagher is not involved in any way with Derry anymore. I'd say the GAA are hoping that Derry don't make the All-Ireland Final as this would all get dragged out again in the lead up to the final

All it takes is one picture on a smart phone like when Dublin broke the covid restrictions. I don't know how they could keep that quiet.

I'd say there are not too many smartphones being led near the Derry training pitch and I've been involved in club teams where we have been sworn to secrecy on who we have in giving us sessions (In our case it was because we were afraid we would be laughed at with who we were working with!!!)

Derry would be very foolish to allow that, also I imagine players would not be comfortable if that situation occurred,

Ah lads don't be so naive, course Gallagher is still involved and what happens off the field should have no bearing on his coaching capabilities... I didn't hear of any charges, and was sceptical of the timing of the revelation.. .. but same as coaches payments and training during covid, and good rural players being tapped up by the bigger town clubs ... it's all happening ..
Being honest, I like Derry, have always had a grà for them, back when Kerry were lacking midfielders, i worshipped McGilligan and Anthony Tohill, as well as big Dermot Heaney wing forward.. serious big units, then they had wee McGuirk, at number 5, scored the semi winner vs Dublin in 1993... Ya always liked Derry, looking forward to Sunday.

I’d have a soft spot for Derry too, a great history but not a fan of current tactics. Enough said about Gallagher, it’s a personal tragedy that has nothing to do with football,

Agree Hicser, in his prime Tohill was a monster, he just had everything in his locker... he was a level above in 1993. I recall we playing them one Sunday in the National League, the game was fixed for 1pm as Derry were flying home, I was gutted I couldn't go as the early start didn't suit. Although he was named, Tohill didn't tog that day with Heaney and McGilligan in the middle.... there was an aura about them at the time, they were well worth more than the single all ireland but at the time Donegal and Down just came out of no where. One game in particular at the time should never have gone ahead, between Derry and Donegal, the pitch was waterlogged in advance and the rain persisted throughout.. It was farcical, .... wouldn't be allowed go ahead nowadays....
But for that panel, they seriously under achieved.

Respectfully disagree horse, If what's alleged is true then you have no place as a mentor or coach of a county team that is supposed to be inclusive of everyone women and girls. I hope Derry are doing the right thing in this this regard. Anyway we've gone way off topic so I'll leave my feelings at that.

A Ulster Ref involving an Ulster team.

Dublin Joe is down to ref the game. A Ulster Ref involving an Ulster team. I'm less concerned about where he's actually from as much as I am about the fact that he's a poor referee. He's whistle happy, too willing to engage with anyone question decisions and takes ages speaking with players if booking them. He's not ideal for a team like ours who benefit from a free flowing, fast game. He'd play right into Derry's hands by slowing everything down.

Dublin Joe is down to ref the game. A Ulster Ref involving an Ulster team. Ya, read that, and Tyrone's Sean Hursen will take charge of Dublin and Monaghan, the good news in that regard is Dublin Joe, probably will now not get the final. Assuming we get that far, would it be fair to suggest Gough or Lane will get the final, haven't seen McGoldrick much thus year, in fairness could never really fault the Meath man, or fault Gough despite his allegiance to a Dublin, I thought we was fair enough in 2019, not may refs would have had the balls to red card Cooper.

McColdrick failed the fitness test and was removed from the panel believe it or not. I'd say Gough for the final. The Dubs hate Lane so I'd be surprised if he got it.

Didn't realise he failed a fitness test, I was wondering where he was, in fairness to him, I could never fault him, I watched a "back to Black" a behind the scenes programme that was done with the Meath man, came away with a different view of the man afterwards, the players too had respect for the man.

I would say Gough is a top ref however its always a problem when a Ref is close to a competing counties. You need to look totally impartial to make the tough decisions. In my opinion the Final Ref needs to come from a province that is not involved in the final, very simple rule. It might mean the best Ref does not referee the final but so be it

I hate the ref moaning but agree refs should come from neutral provinces to soften the moans of the brayers.
Gough is a top ref.

I hate the ref moaning but agree refs should come from neutral provinces to soften the moans of the brayers. Gough is a top ref. Gough liked a comment on Twitter in 2019 that compared the winner of the Kerry/Tyrone game as the cow going forward to the abattoir known as Dublin. He then got picked as the ref for the final. That's wrong. Checked again and still liked by our neutral friend. He is a good ref but the referee admins need to not put their refs in positions where their bias is called into question. I think Kerry should be too strong for Derry that another vintage Joe performance won't affect. I hope we learn how to block Cork attacks next year based off McQuillan's positioning in the Derry/Cork game.
