So we've been handed Derry im the draw for our semi final. Definitely the tougher of the 2 teams we could have gotten but I think it will stand to us if we overcome it rather than cruising past Monaghan which is what I think Dublin will do. It will be a fresh test, a team we haven't played at any level in some years. Looking forward to 2 weeks. I think it will get the Sunday afternoon game given Dublin & Monaghan are a lot closer to Croker than Kerry & Derry. To be confirmed by CCCC tomorrow afternoon.

Dublin surely on the Saturday evening and Kerry on the Sunday?? Thats what I said, we'll be on the Sunday given Dublin v Monaghan are the closer counties to Croker and they won't be out as late for the Saturday night throw in. Also, given the Tailteann Cup Final is on the Saturday I expect the game with the lower expected attendance to be paired with it, which I would expect also to be Dublin v Monaghan given the expected one sided nature of the tie. Kerry v Derry is a more attractive fixture so it will be given the Sunday game

Is the Tailteann Cup final on the Saturday? I would have expected our game to be with that.

Looks like the scene is set for the final everyone wants. A Derry battle before, which on form, we should be well able for.
Derry will provide a stiff test defensively, but don’t have the scoring power to trouble us, it maybe a slow game but we will prevail, to meet the dubs for a game for the ages.

Dublin surely on the Saturday evening and Kerry on the Sunday?? Based on the journey for both Kerry and Derry, it should be Sunday. Dublin obviously and Monaghan will have less of a journey after the Saturday evening semi-final. It's been a long time since Kerry played Derry. Must be the last time Derry were in Division 1?

lets not get carried away here, Derry are the ultimate nightmare team to play against. we were sucker punched in 03 by Tyrone, same in 2010 V Down.
id rather have got Dublin than this crowd, they are awful to play against. they will put 15 behind the ball and its going to be a terrible game.
if we win, it wont be easy and wouldnt be surprised to see us lose this.

Ah stop, no one is disrespecting Derry, but the teams are at different levels, an up and coming div 2 , against one of the best teams in the country. We expect a tough game but Kerry to win thru, without doubt.

Those 2 games were different times. Incomparable in my opinion as the blanket defence was nowhere near as advanced then as it is now. Teams know how to attack teams with a blanket. Louth was an example. Kerry should be well able in my opinion if we move the ball up the pitch as quick as we have the past 2 games Derry attack with 15, but if Kerry leave Clifford plus another up in attack it will give us scoring opportunities when we turn the ball over. They'll also be a lot less likely to commit 15 in attack when they take into consideration some of our forwards. I much prefer Derry to Monaghan to play simply because it will keep Kerry fresh. Yes it will be a tough physical battle but one I would expect Kerry to triumph in and pull away in the 2nd half.

Anyone know when's the last time we played Derry in the Championship. Did they ever beat us?. We beat them in the '17 minor final but can't remember another time we played them at any level

The gaa think about the gaa. I was actually about to post the exact same thing!!

The Derry Cork QF was atrocious that said Derry is the harder draw.
DOC & Jack will need to repeat their performance from yesterday as Glass and Rodgers are serious footballers.
Your imagine McKeague will take David Clifford and that will be some battle.
I think though that they don't have enough up front to really hurt you.

We all know what Derry will offer.
As long as Kerry play to standard (workrate, patience, clinicalism) then it should be a comfortable enough win. Kerry have been preparing hard for the kind of system Derry have in place in defence. I wouldn't say it is very dissimilar to what Louth do and we seen how Kerry dismantled that with relative ease.
Just don't see Derry having enough firepower in attack to trouble Kerry's defensive system either. Kerry defended in packs and intensity v Tyrone. A similar effort there will thwart Derry.
A good test to keep us on our toes ahead of the massive one. Easy as a fan to say this but of course inside camp with Jack and co- they will need to be treating this as the final itself.

Kerry were mising Seamus Moynihan through injury and Darragh Ó Sé went off early.

It'll be bizarre if the GAA are hindering bigger crowds from traveling.

As expected: Dublin will face Monaghan at Croke Park on Saturday 15 July, throw-in 5:30pm, while Kerry and Derry will face off on Sunday 16 July at 4pm. Both semi-finals will be broadcast live on RTE.
The Tailteann Cup final between Down and Meath will be contested ahead of the Saturday semi-final, while the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship final takes place ahead of the Sunday's game between Kerry and Derry.
Saturday 15 July Tailteann Cup final: Down v Meath, 3pm All-Ireland SFC semi-final: Dublin v Monaghan, 5.30pm
Sunday 16 July All-Ireland JFC final: New York/Warwickshire v Kilkenny/London, 1.30pm All-Ireland SFC semi-final: Kerry v Derry, 4pm

I think we last met Derry in the League in 2015. First and only time I was in Celtic Park despite living in a neighbouring county. We were All Ireland Champions and they were struggling to stay in Division One. We won pretty convincingly but I have a memory of Cian O’Neill shouting at the ref “What do you have to do to get a free around here?” And a Derry wag in the stand shouting back “Get fouled!” In the intervening years they dropped to Division Four and have come right back up again and we went on the have a famine until last year. Hopefully it will do us good to face a different challenge.

would surely have made more sense to have the Tailteann on Sunday before Derry V Kerry to bring that attendance up a little.
