Good win yesterday. As I said on here during the week I felt that the performance was brewing and we are trying to time our run to peak for the business end of the championship. Kerry were hopping off the ground yesterday and any lethargy from previous games was no where to be seen. We did well in defense apart from coughing up 2/3 goals chances which would worry Jack & Co.
Midfield played well as a unit and individually. Was in the terrace behind the goal louth were attacking in the first half so was hard to see who was doing what in the forwards. Like others would like to see the game in its entirety.

I expected that Louth would play defensively and that Kerry would shoot from distance to get enough points to get the required win but I did not expect that explosive performance we got. There was very small mathematical chance that Kerry could have been knocked out yesterday and Jack clearly wanted to make 100% sure that did not happen. Performances like this are in Kerry but I thought the quarter final would be the first. Most people don’t seem to realise that when Kerry put in a mediocre performance in the league in February it is because they are doing the homework during the week for these performances in the summer. Like Hermit I would like to see the full game on video. I am Kerry’s most positive fan but from the few minutes shown on TSG there are a few things that can be improved on. Even Ferraris need to be serviced. David is some footballer. People always want to ask a Kerry supporter if David is the best of all time. Last year I said to people that in my opinion at that stage he was the best 23-year-old player that ever played Gaelic Football. This year he is the best 24-year-old. The undisputed claim to the title is very nearly his. The standing ovation when he left the pitch yesterday was very audible on the radio and was a goose bumps moment. Even Ambrose had to pause to catch his breath. I can’t recall any other sports star in Ireland ever getting a Garda escort, early, from a stadium because of the crowd rush his presence might cause after the event. I wonder did any of the Gardai, in the privacy of the dressing room, pull a page from their note book and ask David for an autograph for their own child at home? I think he's already Kerry's greatest. I think he'll be considered the GOAT in Ireland in a few years. He's so consistent and has so much to his game. He's definitely better than Gooch and Maurice Fitz. Then the question is if he's better than Jack O'Shea and the two Mickos. I think himself and Sean O'Shea will end up our highest scorers in maybe 6 years.

Ah look tbf you can't compare backs to midfielders or midfielders to forwards but for sure David is the best forward I've ever seen play. Maurice was more talented and could play midfield but has nt the same drive as David. As many posters are aware I criticise David more than many but he is the best forward in the country no doubt. Shane Mcguigan is class and in the top 6 maybe even top 2 or 3 but David number one. Shane Walsh is the most talented forward in the country imo but and it's a big but... He is unreliable. I stated before last years final I was afraid of Shane but he only plays well 4 or 5 games out of ten. All great players have off days but Shane has them regularly. I'd have David number 1 and number 2 and 3 Mcguigan and Ó Callaghan for forwards. Not sure where I'd have Shane. Now he might tear Mayo apart the next day but then disappear. Shane is a houdini. Finally I've never seen anyone that can kick long range points as consistently as David. P. S. He is still a bad tackler😁Did someone tell you that?

If all these lads have left the panel, who has replaced them? Of the 5 lads named above as having left the panel, at least 2 were with the team yesterday. Jack O'Shea replaced Dylan Casey in the subs so he's definitely still there, Pa Warren made the 26 for the Munster final so it would be a surprise if he's gone, especially with the amount of game time he got in the league. Not sure about Dan O'Donoghue and Greg Horan, they were definitely on the panel at the start of the championship but could have dropped off since, Horan played for Stacks last weekend, not aware of O'Donoghue playing with the club but he could be injured. Gavin Crowley is definitely off the panel.

we in Kerry cant really give out about lots of former players in media when we have more than anybody! In fairness to the Kerry mafia most of them can be very objective and are often the most critical of their former team. most people outside of Kerry wouldnt agree with this.

On another note I found the experience in Portlaoise quiet pleasant yesterday. I'm an era when everyone is looking to take money out of your pocket I was pleasantly surprised at being directed into a car park in Supervalu very close to the pitch yesterday by a nice man in a "high vis" jacket. I asked him where I'll get ticket so I can pay and he replied "parking is free enjoy the game". A nice touch! Yes, parked there as well, same last weekend for minor game in Kilkenny, parked at a local hurling pitch, s a me as yesterday, asked how much, was told welcome to Kilkenny, parking is free, enjoy the game and safe trip home. My last two games on the road have been most enjoyable and to new fields for me... But the standing ovation for DC give me the shivers, class altogether by both sets of supporters

I must say I have nt enjoyed an experience like it in a long while. The Louth supporters were very gracious and had total respect for Kerry and were in total awe of David. It made me swell with pride. I parked in that underground aswell, The man at the entrance was a lovely man, very helpful. Literally walked around the corner and joined the que to get in. A very nice ground and experience, Back on the motorway in 10 mins after leaving.

Nice to see ex players at the away games as supporters. Saw a few yesterday.
It's a nice ground and traffic was fine leaving town even though I was heading the same direction as the Louth people.
Interestingly Sam Mulroy came in for a fair amount of negative commentary from the Louth fellas around me. He seems to divide opinion. Sam didn't have a good day.
A friend of mine who is from Mulroys club, The Martins, said that in January Sam was telling lads that the player of the year would be between himself and David Clifford. His stock fell a few pence yesterday.
He is a very talented fella but wasn't his day yesterday.

Sam is a good player at a level below the elite but he wouldn’t be fit to lace Clifford’s or Seanie boots. When he was asked to step up a level yesterday he was blown away if truth be told. I remember a podcast with Oisin McConville two years ago and Mulroy came across as very arrogant about how he saw himself as one of the best forwards in Ireland, you would never hear David or Seanie talk that way about themselves. In relation to David Clifford he is the Maradona and Pele of Gaelic football wrapped into one, I have never witnessed a Gaelic footballer like him on my 40 years on this earth.

Is there any reason they couldnt have done the pairings together with the prelim draw the Monday just gone?

I'd be pretty confident Kerry will be the Sunday double header. Dublin will be the Saturday 7PM Game i'd imagine.

I paid an obscene amount of money to stay in a poxy ant infested B & B (with no breakfast)for the Mayo match. The system is far from ideal but I'm glad to have a 25 min journey next weekend.

Rte sent a camera, cameraman, and commentator to Portlaoise on Sunday for 5 minutes on the Sunday game. Could they not just upload it onto the Rte player in case anyone could watch it. They could fire on a heap of adds before it if they want to make a bit of money out of it. Don't think anyone would care. Kinda nonsense just to leave it in the can imo.

'Poxy ant infested B & B' - I'd love to know the name of it- so I can steer people away. The worst B & B I've ever stayed in was in Kerry also, it gives me no joy to say that but such is life. Your point is well made, not all Kerry people live in Kerry, so sometimes the travel is in reverse. I've never stayed in Dublin before or after a match and now wouldn't seem like the best time to start trying to change that.

Thanks a million Jackie but I've all my passes at home used up on Kerry games! No worries, just threw it out there. I know you have smallies at home. It's not easy keeping all the plates spinning. My grandkids were looking for me last weekend but I was in Portlaoise and I'll be in Croke Park the next 2 weekends.
