Ah I envisage injured, put it this way, most definitely not dropped 😁 No certainly not, Gavin is pivotal for us. Anyone know the nature of the injury ?

Have I missed something I thought Donal Down was gone for the year through injury but he's on the bench.

Breen in for Gavin White, big loss especially against Louths packed defence. He's our best penetrator from deep. However a chance to see Breen, his physicality will be needed as one thing I've noticed about Louth is they are a physically VERY strong team. Heard Geaney carrying a knock and could be replaced by Brosnan before throw in but we'll have to wait and see.

I thought he had some short term injury but just noticed he was listed on the bench v Cork as well. Could see him having a big impact yet as the championship (hopefully) goes on. Think we could do with his pace and directness.

I know about Roche but didn't Donal disappear towards the end of the League and I thought he was out injured too. Diego mentioned he was on the bench too for Cork, missed that even with buying the programme

I think that the Munster final game against Clare was the only day that Donal didn't make the matchday squad.

Would worry about that half back line if we are going to be run at.

A team with a fair number looking to find some serious form. Here's hoping they do or it could be a struggle...

Would worry about that half back line if we are going to be run at. I depends on which one of Morley or Murphy will be manning the D. The three are ballers and very comfortable on the ball, a lot of the choosing may be with the short kick out in mind. O'Beagleoich will add much needed pace if introduced but still, that isn't a bad team. Need to break even and deliver quick ball in from midfield. Harte has the Indian sign over Jack, may be a decade later than expected and differant opposition but Jack for himself must be craving the win here

Good to see A Spillane back in, I would worry about P Murphys inclusion as he will be tested phsyically by Louth. It will be a pure puke fest as M Harte will try to drag this game down to the gutter as is his forte.A win even by a point and I will be happy as we will have a battle on our hands on saturday.

No surprises really in team selection, GW a big loss for sure, all I can say is I hope our energy levels have picked up the last 2 weeks, expect everything including the kitchen sink from Louth, MH will have no fear, expect a defensive game by both sides.
Best of luck to the team and management, over the line by 5, bookies calling it a -8 in the handicap.

Louth went at Dublin one on one. I'm not convinced that they went into this to win it as much as to see where they were really at compared to the big boys. Mickey Harte and one of his selector appeared to be sharing a giggle half way through the second half!
They went ultra defensive against Mayo and stayed fairly close. I'd say they will go with the Mayo setup, They're done discovering where they're at against the best. They'll be looking for a result and an ugly result won't trouble them.

Far be it from me to second guess a manager as successful as Mickey but wouldn't have made more sense to do everything to win the Leinster final given it was the biggest game in their history the last 13 years and then in the group stage try and see how they fared conventionally against too other big dogs like us and Mayo?

I get your point though no harte team would be underestimated though to be fair way we played last 2 games we have no right to underestimate anyone !

Looking at the squad for Sunday on the website, the paucity of our subs bench on Sunday is pretty stark. Apart from Stephen O'Brien there is no one that you would be confident in their abilities to change a game if called upon. Tony B could be described as mercurial at best. BOB offers great defensive cover but, must be someway off full fitness.
If Louth drop deep as everyone expects we will have a hard time breaking the lines as without Gavin and BOB in the half backline we simply don't have the same running threat from deep. The half forward line are all a bit one paced as well apart from Dara Moynihan but, I think he has had a poor championship.
You would hope to kick over the blanket but, with no D Moran i'm not sure if our midfielders are capable of it.

Does anyone here give us a chance of getting past the quarter/semi stage. ATM it looks like 10 players need a jump start. I've been following kerry for 50 years+ and at times we just weren't good enough but now it seems as if we're just not putting in the effort or coaching is letting us down. I hope I'm wrong we seem to be missing something.

Something just not right so far this year compared to last year.
Hoping for a bit of a kick-start on Sunday....hoping.
David Morans departure has been very significant in my view.

Would have to agree something not right so far this year.. And of course David Moran retiring a massive loss.. Travelling up Sunday let’s hope we see an improvement in performance against the wee county… I’m sure our old pal mickey will have them ready for us.

Remember when David came back into the team and established himself in the quarter final against Galway in 2014? Brian Sheehan was injured and it was a last minute change. I remember feeling uncertain at the idea of Moran coming in as a replacement as Sheehan had been fielding really well for a while. The rest was history. The chance is there now for the na Gael lads to take over.

I believe we will win handy enough on Sunday, long range point taking could have a significant impact. The most interesting aspect is who we get in the next round. Up to now it’s being shadow boxing and this team have not peaked yet. Last year the hunger and commitment shown all year was professional standard and is not maintainable year on year. It was needed to get that one All Ireland but cannot be maintained indefinitely. So this team will start peaking in the next round, then it’s all guns blazing for the rest of the year,

Definitely something’s not right but I would have 100% trust in the management team to change things - we have the back room experience but for some reason it’s not happening on the pitch - we are picking the same players, many of whom are out of form, but are there alternatives? Ruairi Murphy got a chance in Cork but it just showed how big a step up to senior inter county it is from club football. I believe we will get it right & tomorrow could be that kick start we need.
