Yes they have linnane coming back is a big help . I would start him full forward. Sweeney midfield . Breen at 6. O'Brien at 7 Naughton at 2 but they have the players to go all the way and I think next year they can win it too.

I was at the Kenmare District vs stacks minor match and although I knew stacks capabilities, I was well surprised by how good Kenmare were. Two division 4a( which is basically the 5th league) teams joining together and score 2-11 vs a division 1 finalist and to do this without one of dara sugrue who was in with the Kerry minors is a great achievement. Sean o'shea was superb. They had a good solid full back line when they settled into their proper positions. Ferdia was well marked in the second half

Stefan Okunbar David Shaw Brian Friel could all play in his spot. Barry O'Mahony from St.Senans is playing well. I wonder did he get a look in training.

Same team, subs and additional squads players as the Munster final.
The Kerry Minor Football Team to play Derry in the Electric Ireland All Ireland Minor Football Quarter Final at Croke Park on Sunday next (12 noon) is unchanged from the side that defeated Cork in the Munster Final.
The team, captained by Sean O’Shea is as follows: 1. Billy Courtney Dr. Crokes 2. Micheál Reidy Ballymacelligott 3. Niall Collins Listowel Emmets 4. Graham O'Sullivan Dromid Pearses 5. Michael Potts Dr. Crokes 6. Daniel O’Brien Glenflesk 7. Micheál Foley Ballydonoghue 8. Mike Breen Beaufort 9. Mark Ryan Rathmore 10. Dara Moynihan Spa 11. Sean O’Shea Kenmare 12. Diarmuid O'Connor Na Gaeil 13. David Clifford Fossa 14. Bryan Sweeney Listowel Emmets 15. Brian Friel Rathmore Fir Ionaid: 16. Sean Ó Lúing An Ghaeltacht 17. David Naughton Dr. Crokes 18. Ferdia O'Brien Austin Stacks 19. David Shaw Dr. Crokes 20. Kieran Dwyer St. Pats 21. Caolim Teahan Glenbeigh-Glencar 22. Stefan Okunbar Na Gaeil 23. Niall Donohue Firies 24. Cormac Linnane Beale
Kerry will need to be patient here. Talking to somebody who saw the Derry-Donegal Ulster final, Derry get 13/14 men back inside their own 50 a lot of the time. That will work for a while in Croke Park but eventually holes will appear. Tommy Griffin will testify to this from his involvement with Pobal Scoil in their win over Roscommon last year. Hope the backs tighten up a bit from the Munster final display. The experience that most of the Kerry team have of playing in Croke Park should stand to them.

I'm a little worried about the full back line. They have looked a little suspect in the last two games. Graham O'Sullivan is much better in the half back line. David Naughton is a more natural corner back. Ready and Collins have looked suspect the last two games. The forwards are very dangerous if they get enough supply. Sean O'Shea is having a brilliant year for Kerry so far. A great prospect.

I think we will set up with a sweeper given that Derry only play 4 up front- could see Breen dropping back with the introduction from the subs bench of a midfielder ( Shaw/Teahan/Okunbar) or alternatively Linnane to start with Sweeney dropping deep- Diarmuid O'Connor was a doubt all week would be surprised if he is fit enough to start.

Really enjoyed watching our minors play football how it's supposed to be played.
Some of today's runs, scores were worth the entrance fee alone.

Excellent from the minors today, I'd pay to see them before any senior side in the country, fantastic football.

I got to watch most of the minor game yesterday and it was fantastic to watch free flowing moves, strong running and accurate, long kick passing by the Kerry minor team. This Mícheál Foley from Ballydonoghue really impressed me again. He is some footballer. I watched young Clifford's movement during the game. His marker was always on the go and Clifford had him in knots such was the quality of the runs he made. The delivery into him was superb. The diagonal delivery was something Derry really couldn't cope with. His style is so akin to that of the great Maurice Fitz. What a prospect this young fella is. Seán O Shea was outstanding in the first half and is another with a bright future. The goal just before half time was the kick in the backside they needed and the second half was a pleasure to watch. I was sitting beside a Derry man who told me they didn't expect much from their minor team as they had been well beaten in the Ulster final by Donegal. One thing he did say though was that every Kerry player looked so natural on the ball. True for him.

Peter Keane’s Kerry raise tempo to crush Derry
Monday, August 01, 2016
Kerry 1-24 Derry 2-10: Peter Keane hailed the growing maturity of his young Kerry stars as they booked a place in the Electric Ireland All-Ireland MFC semi-finals.
The Kingdom cruised to an 11-point victory over Derry at Croke Park yesterday – as forward trio Seán O’Shea, David Shaw and David Clifford led the charge.
O’Shea, a member of last year’s All-Ireland winning team, hit 1-6 - 1-5 from play.
Shaw justified his late inclusion – one of three changes to the team listed in the programme – with five points from play. That tally was matched by the gifted Clifford, Hogan Cup final hero for St Brendan’s who was also magnificent when Kerry saw off Cork in the provincial decider.
The concession of two first- half goals won’t have pleased Keane: they were by far the classier outfit but Derry rallied from five points down in the 28th minute to draw level at the interval – 2-6 to 0-12. O’Shea was superb for Kerry in that opening half, kicking six points, but Derry claimed goals from Patrick Quigg in the 24th minute and Feargal Higgins six minutes later to remain in the hunt.
The second-half was a different story, Kerry winning it 1-12 to 0-4, a blistering start to the second-half sent the champions on their way to the last four. Daniel O’Brien fisted a point to get the ball rolling before O’Shea rammed home a 33rd minute goal. Sub Brian Friel sent Kerry five clear – 1-14 to 2-6 – and while Caolan Devlin landed a free for Derry, Shaw burst to life with four unanswered points to put Kerry eight clear. From there to the finish, it was a procession for Kerry.
Scorers for Kerry:
S O’Shea 1-6 (1f), D Clifford & D Shaw 0-5 each, D O’Brien 0-2, M Potts, M Breen, M Ryan, D Moynihan, B Friel & C Teahan 0-1 each.
Scorers for Derry:
F Higgins 1-2 (0-1f), P Quigg 1-0, P Coney 0-3, C Devlin 0-3f, P McGrogan & S Higgins 0-1 each.
KERRY:
B Courtney; D Naughton, G O’Sullivan, N Collins; M Potts, D O’Brien, M Foley; M Breen, M Ryan; B Sweeney, S O’Shea, D Moynihan; F O’Brien, D Shaw, D Clifford.
Subs:
B Friel for O’Brien (h.t.), C Teahan for Sweeney (44), S Okunbar for Ryan (55), K Dwyer for Potts (56), C Linnane for Moynihan (59), T O’Connor for Clifford (60+2).
DERRY:
B McKinless; C McCluskey, G McLaughlin, A Bradley; S McErlain, E Concannon, P McGrogan; P Coney, C Doherty; S Higgins, C Devlin, P Quigg; S Downey, F Higgins, E Bradley.
Subs:
O McKeever for Concannon (34), O McWilliams for Downey (37), S Mortimer for McLaughlin (44), R Young for Doherty (45), L Kielt for Bradley (51), J.P. Devlin for McCluskey (55).
Referee:
J Hickey (Carlow)

Another good display by the minors. Again I would be worried about the full back line and some of the goals that Cork and Derry scored against them. They need to tighten up there. David Naughton was outstanding I thought and his clubmate Mike Potts wasnt far behind him.
Up front it was good to see on a day that Dara Moynihan and David Clifford were fairly well marshalled that Kerry still scored 1-24. Seanie O Shea was brilliant. It must be great to have one of them days when everything you kick goes over in Croke Park. The other forwards will need to improve. I wonder are they trying a bit too hard knowing whats on the bench to come on for them if they dont perform?

There is no doubting the merit of this Kerry minor team. Their drive and purpose and running and fielding and kicking was a throwback to another age. It will take a hot team to beat them but then of course we have not seen teams like Galway and Kildare and Donegal. They may be very hot too.
However, as in the Munster final, they leave teams get back at them when those teams have no right to be in that position. Having decimated Derry in the first half it was incredible that went in level at half time. Fortunately, they were able to repeat the evisceration in the second half and their utter superiority and class was rewarded on the scoreboard.
People frequently complain, in vain it seems, about the invisible Kerry numbers. This handicap can be overcome to a large extent at senior level because one is familiar with players. This does not obtain at minor level. Accordingly, I could only enjoy the game at a team level while being ignorant of the individual players who were performing superhuman deeds. How can the county board ignore these continual lamentations from Kerry followers? I imagine something as trivial as changing to black numbers would greatly improve the situation.
P.S. On Friday I sought help as regards the traffic disruption in Dublin due to roadworks. People couldn't have been more helpful, especially our old buddy, Rashers, who deserves a doctorate for his efforts. But the interesting thing is that I decided to take a chance with my familiar route along the quays. I sailed through, having the quays to myself almost. Similarly coming home.

Link to Kildare Mayo radio commentary www.kfmradio.com/listen-live-player.htmlMayo up by a point playing with a strong breeze in the first half. Schmozzle involving a lot of players from both sides shortly before half-time - led to 2 black cards and 3/4 yellows - sounded like nasty enough one. Mayo had 8 wides in the first half. Mayo 2-2 Kildare 1-4 HT

Kildare it is - took over a bit in the 2nd half winning the half 1-10 to 6 points. Jack Robinson sounds like a key man for them - seemed to be very involved in a lot of Kildare's best work. FT Kildare 2-14 Mayo 2-8

Great win by the minors and a SF with Kildare as the opener in the last week end of August as a reward. Some fantastic points kicked and a great spread of scorers augers well for the team - ten different players got on the score sheet. One word of caution however - we are conceding too many goals - 7 in the competition to date. We have conceded 5 goals in the last two outings and left teams back into games when we were outplaying them. We are scoring well 7-72 in four games (conceded 7-26) compared to Kildare 6-83 (five games) but they have only conceded two goals (both to Mayo) and 48 points. Hard to pinpoint where the defense are lacking - individuals doing ok but the unit is not tight enough and players running through without being touched. Sort this and .....

Having seen Kildare in the Leinster final, I would be confident that our Minors will be going for the 3 in a row this year. Kildare were incredibly wasteful against a poor Laois side.

As a matter of interest what has happened to Dublin at this grade in the last 2 years? Or are Kildare that good at this grade?
