Courtney narrowly escaped being a youtube celebrity for years after turning his back on the play that time. Valuable lesson learned; he won't do that again.
David Naughton MOTM for me. Moynihan a close second.

A great achievement by the lads and management delivering on the high expectations. Naughton, O Shea and Moynihan the standout performers today for me today.

congrats to all.
They just upped it and scored a goal whenever the need arose.
Lots of good prospects.

And has 4 in a row been done at minor level?

I dont think so. Kerry are only county to have done the 3 in a row twice

A very scrappy game, Galway came, parked the bus and got beaten. Kerry looked very tentative in the first 20 minutes and if Galway had a bit more class up front, they could have given Kerry lots to think about. Clifford showed his class on a couple of occasions and it was enough to see us through in a dour game, played in very difficult conditions. This team should not be judged on this performance. In general, this year, they have played a very fluid, skilful, kick passing game. Today wasn't a day for that and it was all about getting over the line. A phenomenal achievement by Kerry to string 3 back to back. All we can hope for is that these lads start to make the big breakthrough over the next few years and bring us back to the top table again.

Sixty second (if that) voiceover match report on TSG tonight. Absolutely pitiful. For shame, RTE.

Minor game looked disappointing until you factor in how the seniors coped with the conditions. Isn't there something about the surface or what that all solved while I was asleep?
Maybe the occasion got to them and the video will alarm them how it could have been a closer affair, both games were largely influenced on by very random goals, goalie Countney nearly conceded while 2 OG's plus another nearly - and all that on the one big day.
The journey from minor to senior is long and it has its challenges, there are now a few 20 somethings with AI Minor silver but that alone won't quiet push the pipeline, maybe there are enough say 21-24 year olds. 'If you are good enough you are old enough' is ok but you must also be strong enough, experienced enough, etc. The Dubs are now saying that many of their seniors need culling but what have they coming through?, panel not as strong as '15, funny how things change in 77 minutes.
And of course congrats to everyone involved in Kerry Minors 2016.

Could have taken five minutes out of the panel waffle anyway.

I was confident at the start of the year that this group would win the All Ireland and even though they under-performed yesterday, they still won fairly comfortably.
The full back line tightened up again (second clean sheet in a row) and I was impressed with Graham Sullivan, David Naughton & Michael Foley at the back. Dara Moynihan was again outstanding and David Shaw very good too. Diarmuid O Connor won two kickouts when they were badly needed in the 2nd half.
In the answer to another question, from the starting 15 I think that only Potts, Diarmuid O Connor and Clifford are underage again next year. The sub keeper O Luing and O Callaghan from Firies of the subs are also underage.

Well done to the minors. Great win. In conditions like that, goals were always going to be the key and they were able to score them. Some wonderful talent.
When we talk of 3 in a row, it is well to remember that they are essentially 3 different teams, with only a limited degree of overlap.

I think the three in a row is more a plaudit for the underage structures than the players. long may it last. will be interesting to see how the switch to U17 works, I still can't see how it will be good for the game to have 16 year olds having the pressure of Croke Park thrust upon them at such a young age.

Very disappointing display from the minors. It must have been very difficult to keep them right for this final with some of the stuff being written and said about them in the build up to this game. Some of it was irresponsible from a Kerry view point. It took 15-20 seconds of brilliance from a very young player to definitively secure this game.
Congrats to Peter Keane and his management team for landing the three in a row with basically a new team again. It was a difficult gig to take on following on from Jack's preceding work with the minors.
Special word of thanks and appreciation to all those doing brilliant work with the development squads in the background. They shouldn't be forgotten. Games and results like yesterday are just the shop window dressing of this hard unseen work.

Very disappointing display from the minors after winning an All Ireland Final by 7 points??? You are talking about 17 & 18 year old here playing in the biggest GAA day of the year. What were you expecting?? Another 22 point victory. Take you had out of the sand and have a reality check. I have no doubt that Peter Keane and his lads would have been happy with the performance. It was clear that the plan was to force Galway to kick from long range and put them under pressure while doing it. This was the main reason for Galways wide count. The Kerry half back line never attacked - this was to defend against Galways counter attacking game. At the end of the day a 7 point win in an All Ireland final is a good performance.

My head is well out of the sand, having watched them play all year, not taking away from a spectacular Hogan Cup and minor double for a lot of them. They weren't at full tilt yesterday. Point made. That's all I'm saying.

Congrats to the Kerry minor players, management and all involved in the underage structures in the county.
Not the best of games obviously but finals are for winning. It was a privilege to witness Clifford's great goal in Croker yesterday. I thought that Sean O Shea was immense.

They could have cut the waffle by more than five minutes 😀 Yeah, throw in the captain's speech, players lifting Sam, the usual captain's interview, naming the team of the year and you've the bones of 20 minutes of extra time to work with - should have shown at least 5 minutes of extra footage of the minor match. They must have shown Connolly's shirt getting torn about 8 times. O'Gara must feel aggrieved, his torn shirt didn't even get a mention!

Shame on our County Board for not organising a formal homecoming for the minor team this evening.
I would love to know whose bright idea it was and whether it sets a precedent for the future. Disgraceful and a real insult to the players, their clubs, schools and families.
As far as I know there was never a question of not having a homecoming for senior teams even then they lost. God knows I have stood through plenty of them. Yet our minors win and create history and there is nothing.
Kenmare GAA have their captain's homecoming on Tuesday night at 8pm.

I wonder how many of the previous minors of the 30,31 & 32 sides went on to play and win senior. Only copped it now but won senior the same 3 years , nice handy treble/double..

Only guessing, but it's possible that the Co Board were concerned that there mightn't be much of a turnout for a minor team on its own, especially if the evening was bad (which, as it happens, it isn't). That would probably be more disappointing for the lads than no formal do. In fairness, there's not exactly a deluge of posts about the game on here.

I would say 3 doubles in a row. A treble is where you win 3 trophies in the same year eg Kerry 2004 won League/Munster/All Ireland treble. The Kerry minors have won a 3 in a row not a treble.

How many of the squad are under age next year? Kerry have a great chance of doing the 4 in a row. Very strong team there again next year. Midfield might be the only weak spot. I can see it coming down to three keepers. Nelu Doherty (Crokes) Robbie Murphy (Stacks) Brian O'Regan (Ardfert). 6 backs from this year Cian O'Callaghan (Firies) Chris O'Donoghue (Glenflesk) Cian Gammell (Legion) Ryan O'Neill (Na Gaeil) Mike Potts (Crokes) and Niall O'Donoghue (Firies) Luka Brosnan (Desmonds) Dylan Casey (Stacks) Gearoid Fennessy (Kilgarvan) Pa Warren (Gneeveguilla) Sean O'Connell (Cordal) Nathan O'Flanura (An Ghaeltacht) Sean Collins (O'Rahilly's) Brian O'Connor (Dingle) Lorcan McMonagle (Crokes) Jamie Harrington (Tuosist) David Shanahan (Desmonds) are other backs who could make the panel. Not Sure about midfield Sean Horan (Scartaglin) could make it in midfield backs or forwards. Jake Flynn (Firies) might get a look. Eoin O'Sullivan (Laune Rangers) maybe. Plenty forwards to pick from . David Clifford (Fossa) Brian Friel (Rathmore) Diarmuid O'Connor (Na Gaeil) and Fiachra Clifford (Laune Rangers) will all be there. Daire Cleary (Laune Rangers) was the best u16 player in Kerry this year for me. He will be there. Barry O'Mahoney (St.Senans) Aaron McCarthy (Listry) Ian Roche (Glenflesk) Joe O'Connor (Stacks) Eddie Horan (Scartaglin) Dara Casey (Glenbeigh/Glencar) Jamie O'Sullivan (Waterville) Patrick Moriarty (Brosna) Mark Hartnett (Crokes) Shay Walsh (Scartaglin) Deividas Uosis (Dingle) Mike Kelleher (Mitchels) Gearoid Sheehan (Stacks)
