Moved postI've been looking at this forum in the lead-up to the final and most people here have been sound enough, there hasn't been any nasty comments about Cork so I can only congratulate ye on a well-deserved win. Well done to Pat O' Shea for his generous comments on RTE after (he said we were a "great team"; being overly generous there Pat!) and to Declan O' Sullivan for saying some nice things too in his speech. Nobody can doubt that ye are a great team now, ye've retained the AI, the first team to do it since we did it in 1990 and ye also did it after losing Seamus Moynihan and Mike McCarthy. No excuses.

Congratulations on a well deserved win. Standard bearers by right, unfortunately! To-day was like going into the leaving cert and finding the first two questions were stuff you'd done for the junior cert but you'd forgotten the answers. Some day we'll remember all of the lessons of the past. Of course, if anyone asks I'm going to say ye were lucky...

I'll write some more tomorrow but I just wnated to say that I thought it was a nice touch from Nicky Brennan to give the honour of presenting Sam to Liam Ó Maoilmhíchíl.

;D Thanks to the Kerry players and the management team. Ye had a great Championship this year. As all of us would agree, there is nothing like being a Kerryman in September or any other month for that matter. The team deserve every accolade that we can bestow on them. The effort, sacrifices and desire that you display in and for the county jersey enables all of us to savor in the delight of another All Ireland victory! I am 52 years of age now and still have the same thrill as I did when I attended my first Munster Final many matches ago. I again thank the players and all of the mentors for once again giving this Kerryman and Kingdomites worldwide the chance to welcome home Sam !!!

Well done to all involved on bringing us no. 35 - Looks like the lads were watching the rugby the night before and learned how to win a game when you are favourites... Front Up early on, get on top physically and then (when dominant) unleash the class!!
Hard to fault any of the Kerry performances, proud of the lot of them. Special mention must go to the lads who didnt get on the field yesterday... most of them would get on any other intercounty team in the country so it must be hard to keep the hunger, but it is their hard work in training that makes the difference between our lot and the rest.
Roll on 36!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so here is my few pence worth....
cork were awful. their body language before the game was so relaxed it beggered belief....it showed then during the game that they were not fully tuned in. their warm up was very laid back and lacked intensity, this again showed during the game, when they werent able to hold onto the ball and made alot of mistake. Billy Morgan must take the blame here for this. its his job to get the players monds right and they were far off what was needed mentally. their 2 wing forwards were just prancing about in the warm up,putting in no effort, i commented on this at the time. both of them were taking off.
Kerrys big game experince told. this is the 3rd year out of 4 where we have dominated the game from start to finish. 9 points flattered cork to be honest, the game should have been over at half time. this team now know what it takes to win an all ireland, but above all, they know what it takes to loose it. that is what drives them on.
kerrys intensity was first class. they kept it going from start to finish. fair play to pat o shea and john sugrue for this.
the gooch. simply awesome. one of me mates said that the gooch was not that impressive yesterday. he is from mayo, that says it all really!!! was goochs display yesterday better that fitzies 10 years ago? i think so anyway! again, gooch was awesome.
aidan o mahoney. magnificent again for the second year in a row. a few papers are giving him the man of the match award.
the o sheas. top class again. thomas won himself an all star yesterday anyway. darragh had his best game of the year. marc was marc, again, fantastic.
scanlon was excellent and i think over the 3 games in croker, he was vital to kerrys game. with a bit better shooting and passing, he will be a top midfielder. great call by pat o shea to bring him back into the panel this year.
star. won nearly ever ball that went within 20 yards of him. great performance.
killian young, young footballer of the year, no question about it. his man was taken off again yesterday.
reidy, another solid game. great end to the year.

Well done to the players and management yesterday. We are the luckiest supporters in Ireland to have them in green and gold.
I'd like to echo the sentiments that there are fellahs on the bench who are a big big part of the equation to keep the team as good as it is, year in, year out.
Did anyone think Donaghy's second goal was offside (ha ha).
Great performances all over the pitch though, I could start listing them off here but its nothing ye don't know already.
Cork dropping the heads so easily was unexpected this year , but I think the way Kerry jumped up a few notches when they sniffed victory was exemplary. Every guy in a Kerry jersey oozed class and confidence.
p.s. Is there any chance the GAA could enforce a law banning victorious supporters from singing "cheerio cheerio", "olé-ing" each pass when we're winning. Remember 2001 lads p.p.s. Galvins interview summed it up: "we wouldn't have been allowed back into the county if we'd won this.

Congrates to the players and management on a job well done, after surviving the monaghan game the dublin and cork games were a great way to close out the season.I though kerry were really up for it yesterday, their body language before the game was in stark contrast to that of corks,i knew looking at both teams we were in with a great shout.
superb performace by the gooch, what a talent,i really think over the next few years colm will go on to become the greatest forward in the history of the game, the lad hasnt even peaked yet.As long as colm wears the no.13 with spirt its an imperative must that kieran remains at fullforward,we can never never never ever ever take him out from the edge ofthe square,he gives colm the licence to perform at no.13 by his sheer presence alone as a decoy as by his own brillance of fullforward play.We have seen nothing from kieran yet,he will only get better in there having come through the always difficult second year when your a stand out forward.
Once again congrats and thanks to the players and management for a fanstastic championship season from a kerry point of view,i'm delighted for pat o shea, what great job he has done, walking into a dressing full of stars and big characters and leading them to back to back titles must rank up there with the great managerial achievements of recent time.Well done pat, sean,dr.dave and john, not many wanted the job.
my high light of the year for me was the way pat always talked the talk in interview and then always walked the walk on the sideline, any lingering whispers about training methods resulting in injuries and lack of know how on the side line were truely banished yesterday.Hopefully the county board will now be able to tie this management set up into a further 4 or 5 year deal to maximise whats present and coming through.
Ps. i though aidan o mahoney was massive yesterday,he has the heart of a lion.

What did you guys think of the ref, I was surprised that he got reasonable reviews in the press as I thought he was at best average and contributed to what was a very poor spectacle for the neutral, especially the first half. The only advantage he played was when Donaghy was pulled down in the square and could have had a penalty. I think part of the problem is the implementation of the black card. It puts pressure on the ref to stop play , get the player to turn around and show his number and write it down. By this stage the offending team have 12/13 players behind the ball and the advantage is lost. This makes it attractive to commit 'professional' fouls in the opposition half and if you're clever each player can commit 3 of these without getting sent off . Both teams were guilty of this yesterday but as in most things kerry were that bit cuter and more professional in how they did it especially the forwards. I think Bryan Sheehan was close to being the first player booked yesterday as he must have committed 2/3 of these fouls in the first half. Anyway probably a discussion for another day but it's something that annoys me.

Ref was a bit overly fussy at times and Star should have had a penalty.
However a lot of silly fouls in 1st half especially meant ref had difficult job.
In 2nd half as well Kerry once ahead tried to disrupt the flow as much as possible.

And now for the real thoughts!!
For nigh on 12 years, I have watched with admiration, bordering on awe, at what this current generation of footballers have achieved.
But in the background, I have always lacked a full blooded belief. If there was a fault, I found it. At every turn I have questioned ability and motivation, both among the players and managers. Players such as Declan O'Sullivan have not had it easy from this ginnet, nor did Pat O'Shea earlier this summer.
But all that is at an end. Regardless of what happens next year, this Kerry team stands among the giants of the game. There is no requirement for analysis, for debate about how soft this or that goal was, about whether this player didn't play as well as he could or whatever.
This is a diamond generation, and yesterday their carat was declared. Verdict - the best.
Tyrone may rise again, and we all hope they do. Piller will hopefully get his All Ireland some day. Cork will come again.
But this Kerry team have seen off a highly decorated Galway team and the twin peaks of Ulster football, and still come out on top, with five All Irelands to show, three more than anybody else in recent times!!
There will be no doubt from now on. There will be no debate.
We are fortunate to be among giants of the game.
And it's only beginning.

I can only echo your last line ASA ...' and its only beginning'. Truly outstanding performance. I was one of Seamus Scanlons loudest critics after the Monaghan game...I said at the time that I knew he could do a lot better but that if he wasn't prepared to, then he should forget about it. He answered any such criticism in the Dublin game but even more so yesterday. He was the best midfielder on show...bar none. Brilliant performance by him, even chipping in with a point and his punt for Gooch' goal...superb. Long may he continue in this vein...he has surely distanced himself from other midfield contenders by a reasonable distance now and if he can continue to play like this, he'll be at midfield for Kerry for a long time to come.
Likewise, I was very critical of Padraig Reidy after the Monaghan game and despite a much improved performance against Dublin, I was still not convinced. He was outstanding yesterday and though Goulding gave him some trouble after he came on, his trend has continued upwards and things can only get better from him I suspect. In other words, I'm convinced!
Best game by Gooch in a long time...truly inspirational and star!...hes arrived on the scene already a legend! Speaking of legends, I saw a T-Shirt on the way to the game yesterday.. picture of Paul Galvin with the caption ' Saint? Sinner?...LEGEND'. Couldn't agree more and long may he continue in the Green & Gold.
Well done to Pat & co and all the panel. fantastic year. Delighted and very grateful....did someone mention 3-in-a-row?

For the first time in history (I think) I've not lost my voice. Didn't do much screaming at the game. Just sat back and smiled throughout. Gooch, Scanlon and Star absolutely fantastic. Just watched the sunday game highlights on line. The amount of ball that we stole was borderline illegal It was great to watch the two Star goals again.

;DAh, I'm still roaring and will continue to do so. Listening to Radio Kerry and drinking "Barry's tay" to beat the band! As some of ye know, Barry's Tay is the only thing Corkish allowed in my house ('cept for a few decent Cokonians that I know), Barry's is allowed to visit the house simply because it exits the house faster than it came in !!! Can ye hear me roar from Rockland-aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-! The team is in Rathmore now and Sam is in the Kingdom-aaahhhhhhhhhhh!!! More tay please and make it Barry's, thanks. How fortunate we are to have been graced with maestros amongst us such as- O'Connell, Maurice, and now Cooper and the hundreds of others who have donned the county jersey and managed the teams -thank you all!!!!

Cork very disappointing altogether for an All-Ireland.
Kerry were just magnificant throughout the field. So happy for the young lads Reidy Young Sheehan and Scanlon!
Anyhow weeks ago one of you guys wrote here that Cork would choke in Croke Park. Well did they Choke of did we strangle them.??
