Apparently Peter Keane will be recommended to delegates @ county board meeting tomorrow night as the new Kerry minor manager. I know nothing about him, what's his pedigree?

Open to correction but I thought that Davy O'Donoghue won an All Ireland minor in 1982
Peter Keane was a selector with Mickey Ned O'Sullivan and managed St. Marys to their All Ireland win. Currently managing Killarney Legion

Billy Courtney in goals, Mike Breen, Daniel O Brien, Bryan Sweeney,Seanie O Shea and Cormac Linnane all started the first two games and are all underage,Subs Graham O Sullivan and Darren Casey, and extended panel members Karl Mullins,David Shaw,Micheal Reidy,Ferdia O Brien and Niall Collins are all underage add in a few U17s from next year like David Clifford etc. Kerry will come close to 3 in a row next year Bit of trivia - Daniel O'Brien brought the first minor All-Ireland football medal to Glenflesk ever. Same story for Dara and Sean O Shea for Kenmare

Peter Keane appointed as new Kerry minor manager for two year term.
The St Marys man has vast experience at Underage level from his involvement with various Kerry Development Squads and was a Kerry Minor Selector in 2012 and 2013 with Mickey Ned O'Sullivan. Currently trainer of Killarney Legion, he managed his native club to an All Ireland Junior Club title in 2010/11 and was also previously involved with Beaufort whom he guided to a Junior county Final.
As a player, he won an All Ireland Vocational Schools medal with Coláiste Iosagáin, won 4 County Under 21 Championship medals with South Kerry and at inter-county level, played Minor, Under 21 and Junior with Kerry. He will announce his backroom team in due course.
It'll be hard to follow what Jack has done the last two years. Best of luck to him.

Wishing Peter the best of luck- tough act to follow but with 12 of this year's panel available to him, Jack has left him in a strong starting position. Hope that we have not missed out here on Tommy Griffin & Seàn O'Sullivan both of whom would have had much to offer given Tommy's successful stint with PCD & Seàn's handling of the SK development squads for past 2 years.

I think Peter Keane deserves his chance. He has served time with the minors before and been involved in development squads as well as having a lot of club experience. Sean Sullivan is a rookie, he hasn't even managed a club team yet. If he stays involved with Kerry South U16s over the next few years and maybe takes over a senior club team, he should be in a better position for the job when it comes up again.

Also on that 82 minor team was aforementioned John Keane of Kenmare, father of Conor and Shaun (now of Legion as the family lives in Killarney), John Keane (son of John B), the late Sean Wight, Michael McAuliffe ( Spa) who I think was the captain. Has Peter Keane named his management team yet? One Iveragh man succeeding another in Minor management.

Ye are right, my bad. I was thinking of the 1981 winners. I don't know why, but I experience this kind of a black hole in my head when I think of All Ireland finals in 1982! Glengael, it was Denis Cremin (also Spa) who captained that minor team.

Billy Courtney, Darren Brosnan,Sean O'Shea, Bryan Sweeney, Mike Breen, Daniel O'Brien, and Graham O'Sullivan are underage next year. I would agree with the names that nacrocaigh has mentioned, he very clearly knows his stuff very well and much better than me, but I am not just trying to plug my own clubman when I say that I expect Dara Moynihan of Spa to be looked at as well.

Surely more Dingle lads will get the nod? Jamie Granville must make it, he's playing fine football for the Dingle Minors this year. The dingle lads play a nice brand of football.. Expect more of them on it!

New management team for 2016 and no doubt new ideas - will be very interesting to see the PK approach and his team selection may give some pointers. Good panel with the real potential to go all the way again but it is a big ask. Miinors are always unpredictable and the draw for Munster will be critical - look at what happened to Cork this year, very unfortunate to lose to Kerry after extra time in SF and their year finished prematurely. From the games we saw they were probably the second best team in the country this year but had to play us in Tralee with no safety net and were gone by May. Will PK persist with the Billy Courtney experiment or will BC revert to his more natural outfield position? Will Cormac Lennane be back from his cruciate in time for the early rounds? 11 of the extended panel from 2015 available plus some talented others from this years U17's and add in a handful of U16's from this year.

I think he could play Billy Courtney at Full Forward. Cormac Leane would be the starter, You do have 3 or 4 other Goalies who could make it. Shane Foley( Rahillys) Robbie Murphy (Stacks) Neil Doherty (Crokes) are other solid Keepers. Niall Collins will probably be the full back . Mike Breen and Daniel O'Brien should be in the half back line. Michael Reidy could be there.Micheal Foley (Ballydonoghue) could be there. Johnny O' Sullivan (Beale), David Naughton (Dr. Crokes), Cian O'Callaghan (Firies), Connie O'Connor (Gneeveguilla), Mark Ashe (Dingle), Michael Potts (Dr. Crokes), Niall Geaney (Dingle), Cian Gammell (Legion), Mike Boyle (Dingle), Michael Heaphy (Tarbert) Dara Goulding (Ballyduff) could all make it in the backs.Bryan Sweeney (Listowel Emmets), Niall O'Donoghue (Firies), Mark Ryan (Rathmore), JJ Herlihy (Gneeveguilla) Tom Hoare (Kerins O'Rahillys) Iarla Courtney (Ardfert) are midfield options. Crocaigh - start with the 11 from this years team/training panel Mike Breen, Dan O Brien, Michael Reidy, Bryan Sweeney, Billy Courtney, Cormac Linnane, Graham O Sullivan, Sean O Shea, Karl Mullins, Ferdia O Brien, Missing somebody?? Add in the u 17 panel from the Milltown tournament Shane Foley, Johnny O Sullivan, Kieran O Dwyer, Neil O Brien, David Naughton, Michael Foley, Connie O Connor, Stephen Okunbar, Mark ryan, Dara Moynihan, Ryan Manning, Caolin Teahan, Gearoid Savage, Peter Mc Carthy, Darren Casey, Cormac Leane, Michael Heaphy, Darrage Sugrue, Arron Morris, Mikey Boyle, Ciaran O Connor, Iarla Courtney, Shane O Sullivan, Kieran O Donoghue Then the top 10/12 U16's - This gives an initial training panel of 45/47 which will be cut in January to 30/32 The above should constitute 90% of the 2016 panel if past record is anything to go on (add back any players not available through injury for the U17 tournament)- with the development squad system very few surprises tend to be sprung (2/3 max)

Well there is a few certs for me. Not sure what he will do with Billy Courtney. Mike Breen Daniel O'Brien are certs in the half back line. For me Cian O'Callaghan from Firies and David Naughton from Crokes would be in the full back line.Bryan Sweeney could be Midfield or Center Forward . Sean O'Shea Cormac Linnane and David Clifford from Fossa are 3 forwards to start. I think Connie O'Connor will push Niall Collins for full back. Mike Foley from Ballydonoghue has a good chance of making it in the half back line. He could also play Graham O'Sullivan there. Mike Potts will also be close. Donnacha O'Sullivan from Firies will push hard for the no.15 spot along with Ferdia O'Brien and Dean Fitzgerald. Brian Friel will be close to the panel too.

Checking back on last years U17 squad for the Jeremiah Kerins tournament, only seven of the 24 ended up making the minor panel for this year. 11 were U16 so too young and five? were involved with the minors in 2014 so also ineligible. That gives 7 + 11 + 5 = 23 with nine that were "new" (not available or just not picked) 2014 Jeremiah Kerins Tournament Squad Goalkeepers: Eoin O Brien (Churchill) Backs: Tom O'Sullivan (Dingle) Eoin Curry (Anauscaul) Darren Brosnan (Gneeveguilla) Darragh O Doherthy (Legion) David Roche (Milltown/Castlemaine) Dara O Shea (Kenmare) Cian O Muruchu (Gaeltacht) Dj Murphy (Gneeveguilla) Rob Leen (Legion) Colin Griffin (Austin Stacks) Midfielders: Michael O Donnell (Austin Stacks) Calvin Foley (Austin Stacks) Jack Daly (St Marys) Conor Culloty (Legion) Forwards:Evan Cronin (Spa) Adam O Shea (Dr Crokes) Louis Ryle (Austin Stacks) Lee O Donoghue (Glenflesk) Pat Spillane (Templenoe) Darragh Sheehy (Ballydonoghue) Diarmuid Keating (Skellig Rangers) Sean Bambury (Gaeltacht) Jack Foley (Ballydonoghue) Kieran Lynch (Ballydonoghue) Gareth Brosnan Hickey (Dingle) Read more: kerrygaa.proboards.com/thread/5557/kerry-minors-2015?page=18#ixzz3nnMPpica

Cian O Murchu is a good back. I think Michael O Donnel would have made it but he has a lot of injury problems. He is talented though. Jack Foley is a good player too from Ballydonoghue. They would be the 3 closest for me that didnt make it.
