Congrats to Jack, his management team and the minor players. Phenomenal achievement for Jack to come in and win back to back minors with two different teams. Good interview with Jack on radio Kerry this morning when he spoke about the mental toil involved with having to start from scratch with a new group each year. He said he is now happy to move on to u21 level and build on the work started with these two groups of players and bring them through to senior level.

Only one word - awesome.
Need to get these lads and last year onto u-21s panel now asap and go all out to win that next three years and hopefully theirs 4 or 5 senior players coming out of the two teams.
Apparently there is a serious team there also next year.

Brilliant performance from our minors. I thought Andrew Barry played very well when it was needed in the first 20 mins. O'connor was class in mid field. Hard to name individuals when it was a great team performance. Will Jack get the chance to try for a 3 in a row next year?

One thing that irked me a small bit yesterday - the Minors were barely down from the Hogan Stand steps when the Cork team of 1990 were brought out. I thought they could have been allowed 5 minutes to do their lap of honour without any other distractions on the pitch.

It was no small consolation to witness the minors give a wonderful performance. They were so dominant that one felt sorry for Tipperary, especially that they missed out on the hurling as well. Those of us fortunate enough to see that thunderous game against Cork earlier in the year realised that Jack was onto something there. Of course, not being familiar with the other minor county teams one could not say they would go all the way. However, it was clear they would not go down easily, no matter the opposition. There were stages in that Tralee match when it looked as if their goose was cooked, both in normal time and extra time. All those near death experiences in that match shaped them with the result that no other team could lay a glove on them thereafter. And what a day to peak. Jack sure knows a thing or two about a thing or two.
All year they have been invincible at midfield and, yesterday, Mark O'Connor was Mick O'Connell like. I hope that comment is not the kiss of death for Mark! His partner, John Mark, is no slouch either.
Up front, Conor Geaney has been the scoring sensation. Bryan Sweeney moved like a ballet dancer at full forward, finishing a beautiful move with a terrific goal.
However, it is the defence that has impressed me most all through this campaign. I don't think I have seen a better defensive unit playing for the Kerry minors in all my time. It is invidious to single out one player but if full back, Jason Foley from Ballylongford, does not go all the way I will be amazed. I wonder if Kerry has ever had a better full back at this grade. He is without doubt the best I have seen play there since Michael McCarthy in 1996.
In any case, sincere congratulations to the Kerry lads. They ensured the day was not all doom and gloom.

Let's face it, unless their own county happens to be playing on the day, no-one in the crowd gives a f*ck.

Well done to the team and management . Magnificent year with a new team.
2 gentlemen of Ulster were sitting in my vicinity yesterday, Monaghan I'd guess from the accents.
After a Kerry score in the 2nd half, one turned to the other and said, Jaysus I'd know what age would you have to start teaching fellas to kick points like that?

How come Marc o Connor wasn't aloud do a speech rather him say a speech than the script music playing They did away with the minor captain speech about three years ago. Not sure why. Patrick OSullivan was on Radio Kerry tonight and said that the new minor trainer would be finalized in the next 10 days or so. I suppose from that Jack won't be over both teams next year. The future is bright but we need to mind these guys.s, some great minors can slip through the net sometimes. I have no doubt we have good structures in place and hopefully many will see action for the seniors in time.

Ballynamona is correct - our minors were also stopped from completing their lap of honour to the Davin Stand where a large group of Kerry supporters awaited to acclaim them , by an officious ' Maor ' who waved them to the tunnel under the Cusack Stand. And full marks to the Dubs on Hill 16 who generously applauded when they went to the Kerry fans beside the Hill.

So who is going to get the job of trying to do three in a row - Kerry, Dublin & Cork have done this feat in the past.

The Powers that Be have saved time by cutting speeches from the minor presentation and yet they are hurrying the minors off the field without giving them the chance to do their lap of honour?? Unlike some, I think the Jubilee teams should be acknowledged but there was still plenty of time to do that without cutting in on the winning minor team. A lot of the time gap before the Senior game was filled with the 12 Drummers Drumming. Surely their time could have been cut back and not the minor teams celebrations? Speaking of Jubilee teams, in 2022. I'll be leading the pitch invasion when Maurice is introduced. Just so you know.

This is an outlandish statement, given the Mark O'Connor's age, but I've never seen displays of fielding from anyone like the ones he is giving game in and game out. There was a couple of big guys round the middle for Tipp too. His timing is everything, like Darragh, but the arm extensions and magnetic glue of the hands to the leather. Brilliance and an air of calm and composure in his play. I hope to God he drives on to senior, add some bulk. A super talent.
Echoing Veteran's view on Jason Foley. His performance was flawless, anticipation and speed to get to come from behind his man to win the ball on every occasion. Great sense of awareness and positioning too, our keeper came for a ball late on got too far under it and slapped it with back spin upwards. Who was on the line in the right place? I believe he's a savage cross country runner, so he's got the gas tank equivalent to Arkle. Another to really hope to build into a great senior. Imagine a natural full back at senior who can play to the level Jason did on Sunday.
Ah shtop will ye

I would have some concerns around burn-out with him, particularly when you hear of the injuries he had. He really needs to get a good bit of rest.

I see Ye talking about Marc o Connor some medal collection by him never be done again back to back minors and hogans unreal, I heard from a source in Dublin at the weekend that he is sick of football knees are killing him and wants to pack it in, don't know how true that is could be total rubbish, but some of those boys need a good break after the 2014 & 15 they have had

Magnificent performance by the players & management; when you save a display like that for the final shows how experienced our back room team is; Jack is a serious operator, no doubt about it- we are lucky that he has remained in Kerry, the cheque books must have been waved at him by others ( Kildare mentioned recently). There are some top talents in that squad with Mark O'Connor & Jason Foley the stand outs for me- cannot remember seeing either troubled this year. The development of this and last year's squad will continue for another few years with JO'C taking on the U-21s- hats off to Patrick O'Sullivan for securing this. The imminent appointment of our new minor manager is a huge one given the talent that will be at his disposal- 9 of this year's panel available next year- the SK development squad will add a few more given that they have conquered all before them for past 2 years- for that reason Sean Bàn must be the front runner for the position.

Who are the players from the team and the subs who are available next year? Billy Courtney, Sean O'Shea & Brian Sweeney from starting 15; subs - Mike Breen, Daniel O'Brien & Graham O'Sullivan; from the extended panel- David Shaw, Ferdia O'Brien & Micheal Reidy; that's 9 plus a returning Cormac Linnane & Karl Mullins who was also injured- it's a strong starting base.

Minors were a credit. Fantastic display yet again but this time for the full hour. Lots of leaders on the pitch. Throughout the game when Croker was far from even half full you could hear them taking to and encouraging each other.Felt sorry for Tipperary though.
