I think Seán would be a great appointment - he has played at all levels for Kerry, has All Ireland medals to his credit and has done a fabulous job with the South Kerry development squads for past 2 years; a lot of this year's U-16s should feature on Kerry's minors in the next 2 years which would make Seán a logical choice.

The Tipp minor footballers beat Galway in the QF.
8 of them are on the Tipp minor hurling panel that reached the final yesterday and 5 were playing I think.

Was talking to someone from up North over the weekend and apparently Conor Glass who is Derry's star man has spent the last 2 weeks in Australia (he's heading to the AFL very soon) and is only flying back in tomorrow.

Will Mark O Connor be ok for the semi final? What's the story with Mark? Going back to minor semi with Mayo, some of the fielding he executed that day in particular was some of the finest I've ever seen. Hands from and in the heavens.

The curtain raiser at Croke Park on Sunday will see Kerry and Derry go head to head for a place in the Electric Ireland Minor Football Championship final. Both sides have been impressive en route to this stage of the competition; Kerry had 11 points to spare against Clare in their opening game before coming through by the tightest margin against Cork in a semi final that went to extra time. The Kingdom had six points to spare against Tipperary in the Munster Final, a side that has since proven its mettle by reaching the semi final stage, and then Kerry had nine point to spare against Sligo in the quarter finals.
Derry also had four games, defeating Down by 7 points and followed that with a 1 point victory over Donegal, who incidentally missed a last minute penalty to win the game, before defeating Cavan by 3 points in the provincial decider and then Leinster runners-up Longford by two points. Kerry captain, Mark O’Connor, has given his side a massive boost by recovering from injury having missed the semi final and other than the unfortunate Cormac Linnane who is sidelined for the rest of the season, Kerry manager Jack O’Connor and his team can call on a full squad.
Like their senior counterparts, Kerry minors will know that this is a must win game to keep their dream of an All Ireland title alive. So far in this campaign, this very balanced side have matched their skills with a very good work ethic and we wish them well in their efforts to reach the final for a second year in a row. Referee for Sunday’s game is Jerome Hendry of Mayo and the game throws in at 1:30pm.

Derry look like a big team, but I was impressed with the minors work ethic and team play and hopefully they will win on Sunday

Hope the Kerry fans get in early and cheer on the latest crop of young players next Sunday. Big day for most of these lads making their Croke Park debuts - only four or five were there last year with the 2014 winning squad (two players and a couple of subs).

Surprised Mark O'Connor is on the bench, he must really be struggling with injury. He'll be a big loss to the team. Hopefully he can make a positive impact from the bench. You'd still have to be confident going into this one. Jack O'Connor will always give us a massive edge.

The Kerry Minor Football Team to play Derry in the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Football Championship Semi Final in Croke Park on Sunday next shows one personnel and a number of positional changes from the side that defeated Sligo in the Quarter Final - Spa’s Michael Foley regains his place in the full forward line at the expense of Stephen O’Sullivan. The Kerry team contains just one of the side that defeated Donegal in the All Ireland Minor Final last year – Andrew Barry. Both Jason Foley and Jack Morgan, substitutes last year, are named in the full back line. Last year’s midfielder, and this year’s Team captain, Mark O’Connor, who missed the Quarter Final due to injury, is named in the substitutes as is Stephen O’Sullivan, who was introduced as a sub in all of Kerry’s games last year.
Mark O’Connor and Conor Geaney both have 2 Hogan Cup All Ireland Colleges Medals and 3 Corn Uí Mhuirí Munster Colleges medals won with Pobal Scoil Chorca Dhuibhne. Mark was Man of the Match in both Hogan Cup victories – against St Pats Maghera in 2014 and Roscommon CBS 2015. Substitute, Tom O’Sullivan was also on the 2015 PCD side.

The backs have been playing well all year but they will be tested on Sunday. Glass is a good player but for me the danger man is Shane McGuigan in the Corner. He's a serious player. Darren Brosnan will have his work cut out for him with this guy. Cassidy too in the other corner is good. If Morgan and Brosnan can keep them quiet we will win it it's that simple. I expect Derry to put two men on Geaney. Geaney is a class player a serious scoring threat. Next to Mark O'Connor he is our best player. The other Kerry forwards will have to step up and get some scores as I expect Derry to try and keep Geaney out of it. I'm glad to see Mike Foley as he is a good player and will score. It's a pity Mark O'Connor isn't starting he's a big loss and Linnane too. He will be missed in a game like this cause he would take some pressure off Geaney. Not surprised to see Stephen O'Sullivan dropped he is not playing well. Gone back a lot from last year. I expect Sweeney to move out the field and try to isolate Foley and Geaney and leave them one one with their markers. That would be great for us cause they will score. Derry will be ready for that i'm sure. Derry will be a typical Ulster team full of running and big and physical.Even if Kerry go 4 or 5 points up Derry will never give up. Kerry have to go at them from the word go and build up a good lead early. They will need Mark O'Connor at some stage I hope we can get 20 minutes out of him hopefully. He's the best Midfielder in Ireland at minor level this year. It will be close but hopefully Kerry win it by 2 or 3 points.

Between team, subs and other panel members there are 24 clubs mentioned. This is a tremendous step forward.
If Mark O’Conner is so good why is he not playing?
If he is injured why is he on the subs?.....
Hard to call minors but I think it is hard to see Derry being more talented so I expect a win.

He has tendinitis of the knee. He might be ok to play for 20 minutes if needed. That's not too unusual surely? And he is "so good" you'll be hearing a lot of him in the years to come.

Totally agree buck i have seen a lot of him and he has great ability. He's big and tall. Great jump and catch. Great brain and positioning. That block down in the cork game saved us.When he fills out and gets stronger there will be no stopping him.He was a regular on the Dingle seniors at 17. I'm sure Jack will have him on the u21 panel next year. Conor Geaney too great ability. Dingle have some great talent add in Barry O'Sullivan,Tom O'Sullivan,Matthew Flaherty,Cathal Bambury, some good talent for the future

Great display by the Minors!!! Jason Foley is a fine prospect. Great game. He's a great judge of where the Ball is going to go. Jack Morgan played well. Andrew Barry had a great game. His running and work rate for a young fella is amazing. Strong player too. Brian O'Seanachain is a fine player. Smart on the ball and full of running. Mike Foley had a great game. Was Kerrys most dangerous forward. Conor Geaney kicked some great points. Isn't the fastest but has great accuracy. Would be confident now they can go all the way.

Jason is a Johno in the making, when did you ever see a minor with such maturity, sense of position. The other Ballydonoghue man O'Seanachain also a star in the making, another Ger Power!
What a day!

The great thing is Kerry will have at least 2 more years of good teams. 2016 and 2017. They should be there or thereabouts. Their is great talent there next year too. Tipp or Kildare will have to play out of their skins to beat Kerry now. 2016 available players. Goalkeepers: Billy Courtney(Dr.Crokes) Cormac Leane(Milltown/Castlemaine) Shane Foley(Kerins O'Rahillys) Padraig Aherne(Laune Rangers)
Backs: Mike Breen(Beaufort) Daniel O'Brien(Glenflesk) Niall Collins(Listowel Emmets) Michael Reidy(Ballymac) Mike Foley(Ballydonoghue) Mikey Boyle(Dingle) Niall Brennan(St.Marys) Aaron Morris(Tuosist) David Naughton(Dr.Crokes) Ciaran O'Connor(Gneeveguilla) Michael Pierce(Legion) Mike Moynihan(Spa) Niall O'Mahony(Na Gaeil) Michael Potts(Dr.Crokes) Damien Cronin(Rathmore) Pa Warren(Gneeveguilla) Chris O'Donoghue(Glenflesk) Cian O'Callaghan(Firies) Cian Gamel(Legion) Niall Geaney(Dingle)
Midfielders: Niall O'Donoghue(Firies) Tom Hoare(Kerins O'Rahillys) Stefan Okunbar(Na Gaeil) David Shaw(Dr.Crokes) Alex Fleming(Currow) Philip Quilter(Austin Stacks)
Forwards: Cormac Linnane(Beale) Sean O'Shea(Kenmare) Ferdia O'Brien(Austin Stacks) Gearoid Savage(Kerins O'Rahillys) Brian Sweeney(Listowel Emmets) Darren Casey(St.Marys) Patrick Daly(Laune Rangers) JJ Herlihy(Gneeveguilla) Peter McCarthy(Legion) Graham O'Sullivan(Dromid Pearses) Jack Griffin(Dr.Crokes) Mark Ashe(Dingle) David Clifford(Fossa) Brian Friel(Rathmore) Donnacha O'Sullivan(Firies) Karl Mullins(Kerins O'Rahillys) Jamie O'Sullivan(Waterville) Cathal O'Shea(Firies) Ryan Manning(Lispole) Dara Moynihan(Spa)
Gearoid Fitzgerald(Austin Stacks) Michael Kelliher(John Mitchels) two promising u16 players.
I think Sean O'Sullivan(Cromane) would be a good fit as the next kerry manager. Selectors: Tommy Griffin(Dingle) Mike Quirke(Kerins O'Rahillys) Declan O'Sullivan(Dromid Pearses) Brian Scanlon(Listowel Emmets)

I though the ref was harsh on Derry on a few occasions. The soft goal brought Derry into it. Kerry were a good bit better and the score taking by the corner forwards was excellent. Kerry worked hard and never really let Derry get a foothold.
Congrats to Jack and co.
by the way..is Declan involved too

Jack is some man, has quitened a few bitter doubters this morning.
Different team completely to last year, different styles and everything. Well done to all, a fine team and will take some stopping now and surely when the likes of Marc, aidan and star pack it in, there's 3 or 4 lads from 14/15 to step in from minor.
