FT Galway 4-12 Sligo 1-8 so Kerry play Sligo next
Was Galway 0-5 Sligo 1-2 after 15 mins then Galway scored 2-4 before half-time while Sligo only scored a point to make it Galway 2-9 Sligo 1-3 at HT. Galway won the 2nd half 2-3 to 5 points to add to the misery. Overall sounded like a bad beating for Sligo especially after drawing the last day.

The Connaught semi's were held 4th of July so both will have had two competitive games since Kerry beat Tipp - they will be out three weekends on the trot by the time they play their quarter finals. Big question is will they be exhausted or will they raring to go. when will fixtures be fixed?

Does anyone know is it on the TV and is there any new players in training. I know Mike Casey from Crokes went in for a trial game.

I heard that Paul Clarke and Mike Casey from Crokes were called in but didnt hear how they did. Roche from Milltown is a nice player good defender has a good chance of making the panel i think.

Who do the minors play in semi-final if they win, I heard Galway are very good this year. I can't see Sligo putting it up to our lads

The Kerry Minor Football Team to play Sligo in the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Football Championship Quarter Final tie in O’Connor Park Tullamore on Bank Holiday Monday (2pm) shows 3 changes in personnel from the side that defeated Tipperary in the Munster Final. The Kerry team contains just one of the side that defeated Donegal in the All Ireland Minor Final last year – Andrew Barry. Stephen O’Sullivan, who was introduced as a sub in all of Kerry’s games last year is named at corner forward while both Jason Foley and Jack Morgan, substitutes last year, are named in the full back line.
Kerry Minors play Sligo in the All Ireland Quarter Final
Kerry Minors will play Sligo in the All Ireland Quarter final at O’Connor Park in Tullamore on Bank Holiday Monday next following the Yeat’s County defeat to Galway in the replay of the Connaught final on Friday evening last. Galway, decidedly lucky to get a second chance following a low scoring drawn encounter, made no mistake at the second time of asking when winning by 4-12 to 1-8.
Kerry have done everything that has been asked of them so far this year and followed up their opening 0-14 to 0-3 victory over Clare in Tralee with a narrow one point victory over Cork (0-16 to 1-12) after extra time in Tralee. They then went on to claim their third Munster Minor title on the trot when defeating Tipperary by 2-14 to 1-11. Opponents Sligo, for their part, had two fine opening victories in the Connaught championship when defeating Leitrim by 4-9 to 0-12 and followed that up with a 1-14 to 3-5 victory over a fancied Roscommon side. A last minute equaliser by Galway deprived them of an elusive Connaught title (1-4 to Galway’s 0-7) in the drawn game. Kerry will be without their captain, Mark O’Connor through injury and of course will also be missing long term injury absentee Cormac Linnane both of whom played in the Munster final defeat of Tipperary. The game in O’Connor Park is the first of a double header that also features the quarter final tie between Tipperary and Galway. The semi final pairing on August 23rd will see Kerry or Sligo play Derry or Longford.

There are a few lads on both minor hurling and football panels Interesting to see alright - I can remember a few years ago you had Kevin Shanahan of ardfert midfield for the minors and a half forward line of mike burns, jack savage and David foran. The 3 half forwards would have been in with a really strong shout if making the minor hurlers with Savage starting and Kevin Shanahan would have had a chance too. Kicks the nonsense that we don't produce dual players!!

I have not seen him play much but I have heard good things about him.Must be going well in training i'm glad for him.Mark O'Connor is a big loss.Hopefully Foley will step up there. The backs seem to be coming together nicely as a group. It's been almost the same 6 for every game and that's a good sign. Don't know too much about this Duggan from the Mitchels they added but I heard he's going well for their Seniors. Even with Linnane and O'Connor out you would still expect them to win it.

Apart from Paul Geaney, Daire OSullivan is from Dingle too. It was some journey from Dingle to Kilmoyley to train but they loved it apparently

Given how often even club teams train these days that is a serious commitment to play hurling and I'm glad it paid off for them. On a bad day that can mean a two hour drive and a long drive back just to go to training. Being minors though it means someone had to drive them for a long time.

I had to make do with Radio Kerrys coverage of the minor game so it was a case of a lot of heres and theres and none other than.
I'd appreciate any eye witness accounts of the game.
Derry must be decent, although the scoreline suggests they struggled in their quarter final.

Good win but Sligo were poor. Kerry will have to play better if they want to beat Derry. The issue I see is they rely too much on Conor Geaney up front. He is actually going to be the best of the Geaneys. He's a great prospect. I think Derry will have a plan to mark him maybe drop another defender back on him. One of the other Forwards will have to step up in the Semi final and do some of the scoring. Linnane was that guy but hes hurt. If they dont Derry will win

With Tipp beating Galway 1-10 0-6, it shows minor standard was very poor in Connaught this year. Derry game will be huge step up in class.

Well done to the minors on a job well done. Double header in Croke Park on August 23rd to look forward to with the minors taking on Derry before we meet another Ulster team in the seniors.

Saw the highlights of the Derry and Longford game on TG4's Monday night GAA offering between 20.30 and 21.30. Their two corner forwards look lively enough. Brian Cassidy and Shane McGuigan. Particularly Slaughtneil's Shane McGuigan who scored 0-7 (0-5) from play. Also strong around the middle of the park with Jack Doherty standing out. We'd need Mark O'Connor back.
