In January I had started planning a nice city break with my 'all Ireland' fund! When Colm was ruled out for the year I seriously started planning - now I'm Sorted with AI tickets, sorted with accommodation, listening to Liam O' Connor's GAA Anthem, goose bumps rising and I couldn't be happier! This is where any true Kerry person wants to be on the third Sunday in September! Kerry need to shoot long range points and the game is ours, I predicted a 3 point win in the replay and I'm predicting a 5-6pt win on Sunday. This is a battle of tacticians but hopefully it will also produce all the passion and football that we saw against Mayo. Football needs to be played. Donegal were a slightly different team against Dublin they tweeked their offensive play and didn't rely on preventing scores. Kerry have tweeked their defensive play and I do believe our mid field and defence is stronger now than in a long time, also these young new players are tough, they aren't afraid to fall behind, they fight back and that is a sign of the energy, fitness and passion they hold. As James's O' Donoghues father said awards are fine but you are nothing in Kerry without that all Ireland medal! I would like to further appeal to Kerry Fans to be there for the Minors, we have a poor reputation as supporters let's change this!

You know its getting close when you start getting less sleep as the nights go by. When work revolves around looking at articles about the match along with reading the forums. Confirming hotels and trying to get that promised ticket into the arse pocket. Everthing takes a backseat now until next week.

Anyone watch Seó Spoirt last night?
I've series linked it this year and it always provides excellent viewing.
Well produced with good analysis.
I presume it's made on a much smaller budget than anything RTE does but IMO it's far superior.
Sár obair Dara (agus Tomás)

A player from Donegal not getting mentioned or getting much attention is Odhrán Mac Niallais. An unsung hero from Donegal that could make a big impression come Sunday. This man is a tremendous athlete and a box to box player who can score. Mac Niallais won man of the match in the Ulster semi-final and in the Quarter-final against Armagh I thought he had an epic game (scored a brilliant goal which proved vital) and was my man of the match even though Michael Murphy got the TV award – not one to be ignored! As for the game itself - I believe Kerry can win this game once they prevent Donegal from scoring a goal (this is the key)– they won’t outscore Kerry with points alone. Good to luck to all our players and management. Up the Kingdom! Watching MC Niallais in the semi, he seemed to me to slow up the play around the middle an awful lot. Bit indecisive perhaps ? I could be wrong and I'd defer to more knowledgeable lads on here, but that's the impression he gave me. They used to say that about David Moran.

Back to business. Delighted to see O'Brien back in the team. He gives us a better attacking threat than M. Geaney I think. Also another headache for Donegal who will be trying to snuff out JO'D in the corner. I think I read somewhere that McGee prefers to mark big men rather than small nippy forwards. I'm sure this didn't go unnoticed by Fitz and co. Could we see O'Brien rotate with Star or Paul Geaney? This could be one trick up our sleeve. Just a thought on tactics etc : What if each Kerry player sets out to man his own patch...Mick O'Dwyer style ? Let the Donegals chase crows up and down the field .....We'll stop em at the gate. With all the talk of tactics, my head is in turmoil. And now espionage and dirty tricks. Think I might stay in bed till it's over.

Best of luck to the minor and senior Kerry teams and managements, ye have done us so proud, the incumbents and carriers of our proud history and tradition, there is a saying, we are Kerry, which may be easily mocked by the ignorant, claiming we are arrogant to extoll such utterances, but we are, our tradition sustains us and I firmly believe our ability will drive us on this Sunday, Ciarrai abu, underdogs yes, but remember 1955, remember 1975, now remember 2014, we are Kerry.

A harder game to call than the '11 final against the Dubs as we don't really know for sure what the real Donegal are in 2014. I don't think they are as good as the 2012 version, on the flip side this is a Kerry team in transition, so where do the waters actually meet?
Kerry will target specific areas in particular, preventing the Donegal break from defence, keeping tabs on Murphy and certainly keeping their defensive shape and structure while patiently attacking.
If Kerry can carry their homework through into this game and see it through as the game develops they can win this game by 4-5 points.
The best of luck to the managements and players in both the minor and senior finals, bringing both cups down the road on Monday would be a massive achievement.

11.30 in the morning and all the papers read already. Forums read. Can't wait now. Like a child on Christmas eve. One more sleep!!!! Unlimited optimisim during the week is making way to some small little doubts. But the belief is there that our team and management are going to produce something magical. You got to love all this!!!!!!!!

I qualified initially what the response to said saying was, it will always be heart over head when supporting ones team, but this is more cerebrally thought out, we can utter such a saying before every match but this is a Kerry forum and I am posting amongst my own people, believe, i'm sure Tom creed believed and look what he achieved, Kerry down through history have thrived on adversity and do not countenance negativity or self doubt that is why we have been so successful.

When all is said and done, tactics can go out the window, games built up like this can come down to doing the simple things right, getting a lucky break or being on the right side of a simple mistake. Doing the simple things right for me could be key. Sounds obvious but these built up tactical games can often be over hyped. Its a strange old game but some things have remained the same.

I really do think think Donegal will try and start fast like they did against Mayo two years ago, targeting our full back line and trying to get Murphy and Mcfadden on the ball,if we can withstand this start and get a foot hold in the game then we should be good enough to create chances,Dublin created chances against them in the semi but didnt take them, its something a team has to do against Donegal because they dont give away much.
At times tomorrow we will just have to be patient on the ball and try and draw Donegal out to open up things inside,if its just all high ball into Donaghy all the time then we could struggle,we have mix it up and pick the right options when on the ball.
This team has surprised many by getting to the final, hopefully Eamon Fitz and the lads have a few more surprises in store for tomorrow,
Best of luck to our two teams and managements tomorrow, safe travelling to all that are going.

The very best of luck to all involved with the senior team, players, management and all the backroom staff.
Safe travel to you all wherever and however you are travelling from.
Thoughts go to those who would wish to be there but will not be able to make it, whether because of illness, emigration or other reasons.
Remember who we are, where we came from and what we stand for and we won't go too far wrong.

Best of luck to the Seniors and Minors tomorrow. What a glorious place to be and how lucky we are to have Kerry in both competitions. Like so many others there was no way I expected that this Kerry team would be in an All Ireland this year never mind next year.
To me Patience will be the key and learning from lost All Ireland's against Tyrone in 08 and more importantly Dublin in 2010. We lost two All Ireland's that in my mind should have been ours. We have to hold our back line formation, we have to be patient as we were in 09 when we went behind and I remember Darragh mentioning that he told the team to be patient.
This game is so hard to call and yes tactics will be important but individual heads and individual decisions will make this game. I am hoping Stephen O Brien can finally have the game of his life and I believe from what I have seen, it is within him.
Johnny Buckely also needs now to step up to the plate and I hope Star doesn't get marked out of it as he was done in the recent past. For me Kerry should have no fear and should play their own game, move at speed, defend like demons and win the individual head battle.
In the end how many other counties would love to have the opportunity we are blessed with. Having said that as a Kerryman through and through I can only ask that we don't leave it behind us as we have done a few times before, (already mentioned).
COME ON THE KINGDOM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BRING HOME SAM.

Noel Connolly will be appointed as new Mayo manager in coming days. Pat Holmes the main man in the back room team
Dublin's Cooper stabbed this morning. Not life threatening but seriously enough to investigate apparently.
In other news: Kerry boarded the train to Dublin in Tralee today. They should be in Dublin by now for a good rest before they bring Sam home tomorrow
