killian young is a cert declan sullivan is a cert marc o shea is a cert gooch now is a cert
that then leaves 2 more lads fighting it out as we will not get more than 6.
it leaves star and thomas i feel. i would like to see darragh and diarmuid getting them, but tis easy for the "selectors" to pick others on these 2 areas.

in '79 kerry beat dublin 3-13 to something like 1-08 or 9 to win back to back all-irelands,sometime around that era kerry got something like 12 all-stars in one of those years.

I'd say Darragh will get one myself. Gooch, Young, Deco, Star, Aidan, Murphy and Galvin should get them.

we wont get 8, no chance! i have no confidence what so ever in the all star process. the dubs will get 3 and so willl cork, but they only deserve, at max, 3 between them.

;D B. Brogan had a good year, being a Dub could edge him over K.Young. And that would be a travesty. Could we realistically expect to see two O'Se's, O'Mahoney and Young get the nod in the backs, deserving or not ? Declan and Colm are walk-ons and Donaghy "may" get an award because of the semi and final, maybe. But there are a few players around the country who could get the FF spot on the All Stars. They may not be FF's but may earn a spot, even though it is not their regular position. Paul Galvin merits an award for his work rate alone, but he possibly will be omitted for the same reason as Donaghy. Cluxton could be in jeopardy because of his mad dash upfield and god-awful clearance in the semi.

B. Borgan is a forward so no threat to Killian. Think we are looking at six. Marc, Tomas, Killian, Declan, Gooch and one from Star/Darragh
That would leave 3 Dubs 2 from Cork and 1 from Sligo, Meath, Monaghan and Derry.

My reference to B. Brogan and K. Young was for "Young Player of the Year", not an all star slot.

Apparently Brogan is 23 and therefore too old (as previously posted on this thread)

Yeah, the score in '79 was: Ciarraí 3-13, BÁC 1-08. Oddly enough it was Liam Ó Maolmhíchíl's first year in charge as Ard-Stiúrthóir.

Listen lads, with the greatest respect to Darragh, he doesn't deserve an All-Star this year. Scanlon outshone him on the big days.
Give credit when it's due, not because of reputation. Scanlon for an All-Star.

My All-stars (any pos where there are two names is a toss-up!)
GK Diarmuid Murphy (The only keeper who didn't make a mistake)
CB Marc O'Se FB Kevin McCloy CB Killian Young
WB Aidan O'Mahony CB Conor Gormley WB Tomas O'Se
MF Dara O'Se MF Nicholas Murphy
WF Donncha O'Connor CF Declan O'Sullivan WF Bernard Brogan
CF Freeman FF Kieran Donaghy CF Gooch
Young for YPOY Declan for POY
However I reckon Dara will lose out Diarmuid will lose out and possibly Aidan Mahony will lose out. Somebody else asked here is Whelan the most overrated player of the last 20yrs? I believe so. He drifts too much in and out of matches for me. And defensively he's dire. But he'll still get an allstar this year.

darragh distroyed nick murphy AFN.a player looking at player of the year and a player people feared going into the final as someone who could sway the final corks way, thats good enough for me.

im sorry lads, but i have never rated murphy. any big game against kerry, and i mean games that REALLY matter, he was always been found wanting. Sunday was the latest example of this.

Scanlon for an All-Star. You didn't see him against Cork twice this year did you? He won some key ball against Monaghan(won 2 late kickouts and free) and Dublin(that pass to Declan). Not to mention he was practically man of the match in every league game we played!

I'm entitled to my opinion and over the last 3 games Seamus has been the better of the 2 and I think Darragh would probably be first to admit it. And yes I saw all of those games as I was at all of those games. I don't think the league counts btw.

I agree. Darragh deserves an all-star ahead of both Whelan and Murphy. However the all star selectors never get carried away when it comes to giving the credit to Kerrymen. Also I feel Gooch will get player of the year after his performance in the final.pure genius of a footballer. Declan will be a definite for an all star as will Marc O Se and hopefully Tomas and Young.

League most certainly counts - it's how wee Peter won his in 2002. Well thats fair enough then , but I'm pretty sure that Championship performances would count more. Obviously I'd much prefer to see Darragh getting one before either Murphy or Whelan both of whom underperformed against us.

I'd kind of prefer to see Declan or Marc get Player of the year cos' Gooch has already won player of the century.
