i feel as though there hasnt been many stand out players as there has been in the last few years.Alot will depend on the final(as usual) . Players in with a chance are:
Kerry:Declan,marc,tomas,Gooch,young Cork:Canty,Masters,Nic murphy,Donnacha o connor, Monaghan:Freeman,corey,finlay Dublin:Cluxton,brogan,keaney,casey,Whelan??, Meath:Murphy,bray,fay Sligo:O Hara Derry:Bradley
Many more names i presume that i cant think of.
Killian Young to get YOUNG player of the year.
Opinions???

A lot will depend on the final. I was going to name another Cork player, but I won't for fear he has a bad All Ireland. He's been consistant all year. Although, going by last year, the All Stars seem to be only picked from games played in Croke Park and not throughout the league and early rounds of the championship.

I think this is how the All Stars will pan out; based on a Kerry win.
Stephen Cluxton (Dublin - not my choice but I think he will get it)
Marc O'Sé(Kerry) Graham Canty(Cork) Darren Fay(Meath)
Tomás O'Sé(Kerry) Aidan O'Mahoney(Kerry) Killian Young(Kerry)
Ciarán Whelan(Dublin) Nicholas Murphy(Cork)
Declan O'Sullivan(Kerry) Alan Brogan(Dublin) Stephen Bray(Meath)
Donncha O'Connor(Cork) Thomas Freeman(Monaghan) Colm Cooper(Kerry)

Donaghy is a potential as well. He had a good Munster final and was excellent against Dublin. The media love him too.
Cluxton lost his the minute that ball left his foot near the end of the semi final. The winning keeper will come from the finalists as there's no one else outstanding.

Cluxton, not a chance.. Such an over hyped player. Look at the amount of placed balls he gives away. I know he is a great shot stopper but jesus he handed the initiative to Keery with his pass to Donaghy. Reminded me of the Denmark keeper agaimst Ireland. I think Meath's wing back no7Forget his name now, will get a nomination. Certainties from Kerry Dec o' Sullivan.

With regards to young players, how young do they have to be, and also, does it have to be their first year? O' Leary (besides the off the ball stuff) has been good all year too. He's not who I'm think of either. But I noticed not one of ye have who I think.... Murphy (Cork) was poor enough in the early rounds, but has improved a lot. Also, Kavanagh hasn't been too bad.

Shields played last year so is ineligigble.
Cussen maybe but don't think he has been as impressive as Young or Brogan.

Would have thought Cussen was too old.

killian young, young player of the year.....senior player of the year depends on the final result and indeed how certain players perform. a kerry win and 3 or 4 points from declan o sullivan may not only give him an all star, but also player of the year. tis too early to pick all stars, as finals have lost fellows more all stars, that have given them awards. the kerry players up for all stars...
definates - mark o shea, killian young, declan o sullivan
a decent final and they will get one....
gooch, thomas, with aidan o mahoney and star outside bets
others - cluxton will get one, possibly darran fay, not alot of players have stood out overall.

I don't think O'Mahony is close to getting an All-Star (so far).
For me Kerry's only definites are Marc, Killian, Declan Possibles are Gooch, Star, Diarmuid.

Unless he gives a man of the match display in the final, I dont think Aidan O Mahony's performances this year would warrant an all star award.

Ciaran Whelan will probably get one partnering Nicholas Murphy.

Unless he gives a man of the match display in the final, I dont think Aidan O Mahony's performances this year would warrant an all star award. To be honest I couldn't think of anyone else from centre back either. I think if Mahoney has a good final and given the usual spread of the winners getting 6 he could get it. Ger Spillane maybe. Wouldn't give Cullen a hope after neing taken for 1-3. They could put McCloy there or try and fit Whelan Darragh and Nic Murphy into the same team somehow.

kieran donaghy will have to come right back into the reconing after last sunday at fullforward.
is it just me or did anyone else think that that was kierans best game so far in the green and gold,i know he didnt get the big flashy scores but he handled some amount of ball extremely well.

Winners average about 6 and losers average about 3.
If Kerry lose then their three will be Declan O'Sullivan, Marc Ó Sé and Killian Young. If Kerry win then you can add Gooch, Tomás Ó Sé and if they've a great final, one of Scanlon, Donaghy and Sheehan.

Cork wing forward kevin mc mahon, has been in serious form of late and with a good final could make it, man of the match against louth, just beaten to it against sligo by nic murphy and scored 1-3 against meath as well as a solid all round performance there

Kerryman, I'll give you a right Cork comment now.... The only reason Cluxton is rated above Quirke (besides being from Dublin) is because he is more well know. Quirkes kickouts may have been a little poor the last day, but he is only coming back from injury. Other than that, the amount of clean sheets he has, should be testiment of the good goal keeper he is. End of rant...... Lads I'm sorry but I don't like him or his county but Cluxton is by far and away the best GAA keeper in the country. Bar that one misplaced pass the last day his placed kick outs were a large reason Dublin got back into the game and his shop stopping is second only to Murphy from Meath. Diarmuid Murphy is more solid under the high ball, Brendan Murphy is a better shot stopper but Cluxton has it all. Quirke is solid all round too, all good keepers but I still feel Cluxton is the best of the lot of them.

This should be one of the most open all star selections in recent years. The result in the final will as usual play its part but expect a few lads from Derry and Monaghan to get the nod along with a few dubs, cork and ourselves. Sligo might even get one (at a stretch)

Tyrone should get one as well. They won 3 tough games in Ulster including a superb display against Donegal. It's probably between Dooher, Kavanagh and Gormley.
Here's how I think they'll go by County... All-Ireland winners: 6 All-Ireland losers: 3 Therefore Cork and Kerry have 3 each gotten already which I think are: K Young, D O'Sullivan, M Ó Sé, K McMahon, N Murphy, G Canty. Dublin: 2 - Cluxton, Cahill Meath: 1 - Bray Sligo: 1 - O'Hara Derry: 1 - P Bradley Tyrone: 1 - B Dooher

Just a little note, in 2005 when Cork lost in the semi final, they got none. So I wouldn't be presuming semi finalist would get one. (They should cos of getting that far) Also Mayo only got 2 last year, same as Cork and Dublin which in a way you could say was wrong too, irrespective of the result in the final.

McCloy deserves an all star in my opinion, he a great full back the best around i think.had a stormer against the dubs even when the rest of his team were playing poorly. Caoimin King the Meath wing back and Reilly the center back are contenders for young players of the year aswell.
