Just a little note, in 2005 when Cork lost in the semi final, they got none. So I wouldn't be presuming semi finalist would get one. (They should cos of getting that far) Also Mayo only got 2 last year, same as Cork and Dublin which in a way you could say was wrong too, irrespective of the result in the final. The same happened to Kerry in '03 but I think that's to do with how weak the rest of Munster are and counties from other provinces are pretty much guaranteed an All-Star.

Seamus and Dara have only 3 i thought they had more and none for O Cinneide. I know its a bit off the point but looking there at hoganstand Paidi of Se won 5 all stars in a row!

Paddy Christie has any many All Stars as Seamus - it's pathetic.
Look at last year the scores we put up and only 2 forwards in the All Stars - they are a joke.
Canavan got one for the league in 02 yet Seamus was overlooked in 04 for the same feats.
How Moynihan didn't get one in 02 is beyond me.

The result in the final is always going to have a bearing. We lost one by a point after palying the best football witnessed in Croke Park for a long time all that Summer and yet Dublin got more than us. In 05 I think it was the closest they ever got to getting it right. Cork's hammering was always going to cost them and those 3 teams were so far ahead of the rest of the pack that it was fair to spread the All Stars between them.

I know all that FatTom, but you'd hope some players played well enough to get the team to the semis in the first place.

When the big 3 were definately THE BIG 3 2005 ALL STARS:
Diarmuid Murphy (Kerry) Ryan McMenamin (Tyrone) Michael McCarthy (Kerry) Andy Mallon (Armagh) Tomas O Se (Kerry) Conor Gormley (Tyrone) Philip Jordan (Tyrone) Paul McGrane (Armagh) Sean Cavanagh (Tyrone) Brian Dooher (Tyrone) Peter Canavan (Tyrone) Owen Mulligan (Tyrone) Colm Cooper (Kerry) Stephen O’Neill (Tyrone) Stephen McDonnell (Armagh)
Spread: Tyrone 8, Kerry 4, Armagh 3

Definitely but the fact was that year Armagh Tyrone and Kerry were so impressive that the split was going to be between these 3.

It's okay FatTom, I got over 2005 last year. (Two Cork players from my own division, I won't complain) Still reckoned Quirke was hard done by not to get one, but I was told I shouldn't have been surprised.

Quirke should definately got one last year.

Yeah he should have got it last year but the media exposure to Cluxton and the fact that he has a semi loose half back line in front of him leads one to believe that given his saves this Summer and his excellent kick outs he will get it again this year.

From a Cork point of view, I would have thought that Quirke was one of the best improvements to the team. Okay so he has Canty in front of him, but between them they appear to sort out the backs. (I noticed them chatting to the two corner backs in the Sligo game and in other games) He also saved us a good few times as well, and is just very solid. Maybe Cluxton might be a more visable goalkeeper, but that doesn't mean he is actually better. A lot of the work goalkeepers do (like what you see Cusack doing for Cork) is instructing the backs, so if Cluxton has semi loose backs in front of him... maybe there is a reason for that too. Have I ye convinced yet?? Quirke won't get one this year because of his injuries, so I won't give out this year, no matter who gets it.

I honestly believe Cluxton is the best all round keeper in the country.
Nothing you say will change my mind on that.

Nothing you could say either would convince me about Cluxton either.
By the way Rashers, if you log on later, sorry for saying anything about your players. I presume you think he's good.

For a couple of years, the best full back lines in hurling were (are) in Cork and Kilkenny.....look at how many times their goalkeepers won All Stars.....theatrics win All Stars.

If Marc, Gooch, Dec and Young don't get all stars, I'll be shocked. Murphy from Cork, Fay from Meath, Whelan maybe. Just a few choices.

are ye sure about fay, michael meehan cleaned him out in the second half and he was ineffective v cork with tactic employed with cussen,i agree he looked spectacular under the high ball dropping in when he generally mopped up.

Cant Judge for our own lads who will get one til after the final,DOS is a certainty regardless ,as is Marc & pending a good performance in the final, Young should get one also.
If Kerry win,you can tag on 3 others from Tomás,Gooch, Mahoney and Galvin.

Galvin has to get one,he's the heart and soul of our team and deserves one alone for the amount of breaking ball he picks up.

Dont tink galvin will get 1 unless he has a stormer of a final. If u look at the all stars over the past few years, there is always 1 0r 2 shocks. I tink this tea will be close
1. Cluxton 2. Marc o' shea 3. Darren Fay 4. Canty 5. Young 6. Moyles 7. Tomas o' shea 8. Murphy 9. Whealan/ o hara/ kavanagh 10. Declan o' Sullivan 11. Alan Brogan 12. Freeman 13. Donncha o connor 14. Gooch 15. Bray

Bray Hmm, perhaps. Not too sure about Bray. He wasn't great against Cork in the Semi. And for Donncha to get it he will probably need a good performance against Kerry.
