I don't think so as he played last year.
Gooch wasn't eligible in 2004 and he was still U21.

Bernard Brogan seems to be getting the nod from most on HoganStand.com for young player of the year, having a famous footballing dad won't do any harm either.

Moyles is a certainty for one. He held that Meath team together all the way to a semi final

As is Fay.
Brogan will probably get the nod unless Killian Young has a stormer in the final, but consider this: how many goals was Bernard Brogan directly involved in this summer? Young was responsible in part for all three of Kerry's goals including that in the Munster final. Young is a back, Brogan is a forward!!

The winners will get 6 probably, losers 3/4, Dublin 2/3, Monaghan will surely get 1, Meath will get 1 or 2 and Sligo will probably get 1.

Brogan is 23 so don't think he's eligible. It's between Young and O'Rourke. Reidy could sneak in there with a great final. Not sure what age the Sligo corner back is but he had a great year as well.

I spotted something there with regards to young player of the year, Eoin Kelly Tipp got it two years in a row, (2001&2002) so maybe Shields isn't automatically ruled out cos of playing last year. Well, unless they have changed the rules.

Cluxton - One mistake shouldn't take a deserved all star off him. Marc O Se - Class personified! Grahan Canty - solid, has to have decent final to nail it though. Killian Young - What a debut season, excellent. Caoihim King - Fast and attacking wing back. Ant Moyles - Played alot on forty, but has great reading of game Tomas O Se - The only way was up after last year, O Leary wont be far off though. Nicolas Murphy - Fielding a joy to watch, and can move when he has to. Ciaran Whelan - As much as i hate him, he deserves an all start this year. Was the pulse behind the dubs. Stephen Bray - Great season, helped provide a bit of spark to meath and the champioinship. Alan Brogan - Can be a bit greedy sometimes, but still one of the most dangerous forwards in the country. Declan O Sullivan - Good performance in the final and player of the year is his, what a way to answer munster final fans 06! Gooch - Ran the game in the second half against the dubs. movement, vision, skill is scary. Vincent Corey - If Star plays well in the final, this position will be very close, but at the moment Corey deserves it for transforming monaghan and Thomas Freeman. Donnacha O Connor/ Thomas Freeman/ Paddy Bradley Either one colud snatch it, with O Connor in prime position with the final. I can't pick! If there were all star's for additional five who didnt quiet make it:(Subs) Darragh O Se Bernard Brogan Bryan Cullen Eamonn O Hara Star

Freeman will have to get an all star he'd be ahead of Corey id say.hard to see how Meath can have the same amount of all stars as the dubs and cork who had a much better team aswell

Now, seenas i only saw 2 games since the end of June I am only basing my selection on the internet reports i read and from reports i got from friends..
My team.....
GOALIE AN OTHER!
Marc o se Kerry Canty Cork K Young Kerry
Tomas kerry B Cullen Dublin Spillane Cork
N Murphy Cork E O Hara Sligo
Steven Bray Meath Alan Brogan Dublin Declan O SUllivan (PLayer of the year)
Gooch Kerry Donnacha o Connor Cork Freeman Monaghan
How can Whelan deserve an All star....am i the only one on this planet who believes he is the most over-rated player of the last 20 years??? Saw all the dublin games except for the 1/4 final and he di not stand anyway near O hara or Niclas.

Depending on how the final goes I reckon Stephen Bray could be under serious pressure Walter, but good team.
It'll be a right open selection this year judging by the fact that most Kerry fans aren't putting more than four Kerry players on the team!! Can you imagine what neutrals will be like!!

Think we will get 5 maybe 6.
Definites are Marc, Young, Declan, Gooch Tomas will probably get one with OMahony and Star as possibles Darragh is an outside shout but he could sneak in.

Savage team. Personally I thought Seamus Scanlon had a great year at midfield for Kerry. Also surprised with the inclusion of K Young on his opening championship season. Fantastic to see though. I thought Meath would have more players incld, Fay or there wing back.

marc, tomas, aidan, young, darragh, declan, colm and kieran have very strong claims for all-stars this year, with colm player of the year and killian young young player of the year.
if the all stars want to play a wild card this year i hope its in the form of the 3 o se's on the same all star team to immulate the spillanes.
kerry have won 3 all-irelands out of the last four finals by a combined average margin of 11 points victory per win, surely we will get declan, colm and kieran in the forwards this year as apposed to two as in other years, anything else would be a laughing joke from the selectors.

kerry never get a fair crack of the whip when it comes to all stars. the likes of fla and the pony amongests others will prove that.......remember 2002 when we blew every team away and lost the final by a point and then we only got 2 all stars.....dont be surprised if a few kerry players are shafted. they will try put in 3 cork and 3 dublin, one from monaghan and meath may get 2 or 3 and may even try give one to sligo. so kerry will be the team that suffers, as always. i cant believe some of the selections by the sunday game team.
canty is a great player no doubt, but he was taken to the cleaners 2 times this year by kerry. bar the meath game, they then had crap teams in their way. whelan only played in bits and pieces and murphy was awful yesterday. donnacha o connor on that team is another question......

Do ye reckon Darragh might sneak an All Star?
Tomas, Marc, Diarmuid (possibly), Killian, Declan, Colm, Star.

Maybe.
Moynihan got one last year, Canavan the year before - when great players retire the all star selectors get sentimental.
Also the performance of Nicholas Murphy yesterday could help Darragh.

darragh should get an all star,he eclisped murphy yesterday when the chips were down and he was needed most,all-irelands are won on the 3 sunday in september,he was also magnificent in the last 10 minutes v monaghan again when neeeded the most and kerrys season hung on the edge, ciaran whelan wasnt exactly dominant in the semi final before darragh got injured either,i've seen players get them for far less.
i came accross the '98 all star team earlier today, galway got 7 for winning that year and kildare got 5 as losers.
anything less than 7 for kerry will a joke from the selectors this year, tyrone got 7 in '05 also.

Would agree with maybe 9-10 of the Sunday Game's team of the year, but there would be a few exceptions. Maybe Fay and Caomhin King (Spelling?) and the corner forward from Meath, O Hara from Sligo, a few more of the Monaghan boys deserve a shout, hard to tell really.
Like has been mentioned before Scan I would like to see get one, but that will never happen.

Give them all to the other counties and put the first fifteen from yesterday against them - we'll still knock the stuffing out of them

Darragh has to get in ahead of Murphy, he's beaten him twice this year hands down. My team,
1. Murphy(Meath) 2. Canty(Cork) 3. Fay(Meath) 4. O Se(Kerry) 5. O Se(Kerry) 6. Gormley(Tyrone) 7. Young(Kerry) 8. O Se(Kerry) 9. Ryan(Dublin) 10.O Sullivan(Kerry) 11.Brogan(Dublin) 12.Galvin(Kerry) 13.Cooper(Kerry) 14.Donaghy(Kerry) 15.Freeman(Monaghan)
That leaves us with 8, remember we're the first team since Meath in 99 to win every single game they played in the championship, every other team since has either drawn or lost one game along the way. It shows how well we've done but as with every year we'll be screwed for all stars, at least we have Sam again!

We have Marc, Gooch and Donaghy as certainties.
Tomas, Killian, Declan should be probables.
Dara and Aidan also have good claims.
And Galvin and Diarmuid are outside possibilities.
