great post, peig well done. [glow=red,2,300]the game is on again tonight at 10.25pm ON SETANTA TV.[/glow] dara o cinneade said on the sunday game last night that kerry people need to get away from the mindset that we have lost mike mac, seamus and eamonn in defence and move on,he is proberly right too,we proberly also need to start trusting the young guns on the team and panel, reidy, young, sheehan, darren etc. i was delighted for young and reidy yesterday,to defend in front of a full dublin hill 16 takes a lot of guts. I'll be glued to it. Difficult to remember everything about the game such was the state of my nervous system!

Classic report there Peig. It was the likes of yourself that Keith Duggan was writing about in his great article in Saturday's Irish Times. On and off the field, we are a different breed!!

BTW, the elderly man sitting next to me yesterday pointed out after the final whistle that a Kerry player went to exchange jerseys with a Dublin player and the Dub, quite irked, blatently refused. Did anyone see this exchange?

Just another observation about the game yesterday. I know that someone else here mentioned the commentary about Kerry not having scored for a number of minutes...I can't remember exactly. Anyhow, in the last quarter of the game, the time was hardly ever mentioned as to how much of it was left etc. In the Pub we can't always see the screen and the clock. Wish I could hook up to the Kerry Radio commentary - much classier and much more fun to listen to also. R.T.E. can you please report the time left more often when you do your commentary it is important to know.

I know it's been said before but on watching TSG last night I noted a bias angle on the commentary. Darragh Moloney, in all fairness like...

Congratulations to this great Kerry team and management. This was an outstanding performance.
The Dubs had there best performance for years and fair dues to them , they pushed us all the way roared on by hordes of supporters.
I don't think that there is any other team that would have rebutted the Dubs onslaught in the latter half of the second half. As is well documented the ref also had to be overcome. The manner of this victory makes it all the sweeter.
I felt the Dubs tried to outmuscle and outpsyche Kerry but failed utterly. Kerry were well up for the battle and Marc in particular was taking no s**t.
Also it was very disappointing to see Declan been goaded when he kicked a wide - however the Dubs should realise that this type of sniping only spurs us on.
Pillar was at the linesman from the throw in and this was a poor reflection of him. It was blatantly obvious that he was trying to apply pressure on the ref/linesman to book or send off Galvin and other Kerry players.
In contrast Pat O'Shea was as a cool as a cucumber with his hands clasped behind his back in a nonchalant manner.
Back to the game ...
It was great to see Scanlon playing so well, I wouldn't be too bothered by his 2 wides. At least the ball went dead and if nothing else it showed that his confidence was up.
Declan was awesome, Brosnan was fantastic although I must say that yesterday watching the game I didn't think he had done as much as he did do. Watching it again today was a revelation - Brosnan did very well before he tired(quite quickly) in the second half. Perhaps sean shouldhave been sent on 10 minutes earlier.
Galvin was immense and it was great to see him kissing the Kerry crest as he walked towards the subs area with the whole of Dublin booing him.
Donaghy and

Donaghy and Gooch were absolutely brilliant , Gooch the play maker and Donaghy the ball winner and defender supreme.
Reidy did well although had a few shaky moments. I think there is even more to come from him. I agree with Joan and others , Young is a natural and fantastic ball player.
Sheehan justified his inclusion scoring some great points, he faded right at the end but that's no surprise. I could go on and on.....

Well done lads. Every Kerry person in going to work in Dublin today had a smile on their faces even with a dodgy sounding voice. I walked into work today smiling. Said nothing just smiled. A sweet victory.

It may seem funny to compliment the team's discipline, given that they collected seven yellow cards (both deserved and ridiculous), but this is a major reason why we are in the final and why we will beat Cork.
To have that many decisions go against you, to have that many players walking the tightrope of being sent to the line by the Longford langer, to lose your captain and main ball winner to injury so early, to face up to yet another team almost fanatical in their desire to beat you... to have all those elements stacked against you and to STILL retain enough confidence and discipline to play your game and trust in your team mates? Well, that's why our lads are the champions.
Look at our last three games and see how cool under pressure the team were during those vital last couple of minutes, when the games were won and lost. Two points, one point and two points...you don't win a series of tight matches by luck, it comes from strength of character. From knowing you can get over the finishing line and having the qualities to make sure you do.
Cork may have had the benefit of the back-door matches but they haven't had to dig deep in any of them. It wasn't their fault that both Sligo and Meath capitulated, the result being that they've reached the final without anyone - least of all themselves - knowing what they are truly capable of.
We have no such doubts about this Kerry team. If Cork play them at football, there can be only one outcome and Billy Morgan knows it, so expect Mister O'Leary and co to get their retaliation in first in an attempt to upset Kerry. But there won't be a Longford ref to turn a blind eye this time...
By the way, does anyone know which - if any - of the O'Sullivans lived in Kingsbury, northwest London, before moving back in his early teens? A Dingle exile asked me yesterday and I couldn't tell him...

Fantastic performance yesterday. Dublin's achilles heel over the last few years has been that they go to sleep during phases of the game. They were fatally punished at the start of both halves yeesterday. Can't afford to letting Kerry have a 6 point lead, and try and bring it back on points alone. On another point, i've never seen Marc so wound up, spent alot of the game remonstrating with the ref. I know some of the frees were soft, not sure what started if off, but it was probably all that Dublin mouthing at the start?

Marc was right - that ref could have lost us the game.

I'd be shocked if Laois cheered Dublin - They hate them more than Kerry!

Owen, the first All-Ireland final I saw (as a 9-year-old) was in 1975, so I'm well aware of who Declan is! My question was whether any of the O'Sullivans on the panel - Declan, Tom, Shane or Darren - grew up in London. Any thoughts?

Well hangover or not this morning I really enjoyed going into work in Dublin - smiling of course. I know I should be used of it being in Dublin since 1979 - but every time it gets sweeter and sweeter. I hadn't the heart to ask them fpr tickets today ... ach amárach le cúnamh Dé!

Never heard Dublin people so quiet as today. They did their utmost to avoid post match banter. But couldn't be letting them away with it! Delighted with the win, I'm hoarse from all the shouting. Kerry to win the final by 3-4 points I reckon

Not much more to say here than what has been said already.
Great result but a mirror of the Cork game in that when we really looked to have the opposition on the ropes we didn't drive it home. But to our credit we saw both games out with real class and patience.
This is a great Kerry side have no doubts about it. Names like Cooper, O Se, O'Sullivan will go down as true greats of this marvellous county.
They are great ambassadors for the game - albeit if morons like Liam Hayes can't appreciate that.
Dublin showed great grit and determination but their ulitmate failing is that they have no natural football flair or class to their team. They are well honed, physical athletes. Their goading is deplorable. Declan Sullivan showed true class in overcoming tha mupper Cullen and even more class in his reaction to his goal.
These are the things we should be proud of and to be associated with. At times I felt like we were falling into the trap of rising to Dublin's antics. Thankfully for the game it never boiled over and we beat them with pure football.
I made the stupid mistake of not going to a Bookies in Dublin before the start of the season when I suggested that Killian Young will get an All Star. If we win he will.
If not he still has a great shout for young player of the year. On Reidy I must admit I called for his head after the last game but credit to him he wised up and put in a great display albeit against the most overrated sack of sh*te in a long time. Credit to him on a wonderful performance.
A similar performance where we target Gooch and Donnaghy with angled passes rather than hit and hopes should see us through provided we win enough ball around the middle.
Should be a great final. Congratulations to the lads on giving us another day out.
Finally, I'd like to make the point that Mr. Bannon should simply not be allowed to referee Kerry games. Disgraceful performance.

First of all ....... hard luck rashers........ hope you got a ticket...... heard there was someone in pink there alright
What a monster of a match....... an epic...... what an occasion
In ten years time Killian Young and Padraig Reidy and Brian Sheehan and Darren o Sullivan will be playing for Kerry and that pleases me more than anything. The future must be protected and young players must be introduced even if some older players dont like it.
John Bannon as expected was worth 4 points to Dublin.
This was one of Kerrys greatest ever victories........ my head is still thumping from it.
When leadership was needed , there were leaders all over the place..... none more so that Donaghy..... what a man. From way back I have been a fan of Declan and now he is heading to a place occupied by Pat Spillane in Kerry folklore.
As usual Dublin made crazy substitutions......... they took off their most likely goal scorer in Sherlock and their best point taker in Bernard Brogan. Then Cluxton...... and he is supposed to be the best in Ireland.
Dublin are not far away though.
I thought the analysis and discussion in the lead up to the game on this forum was first class......... varying shades of opinion and fears and hopes .........everyone with the one thing in mind....... to help Kerry.......... Well done
And finally thank heavens for the Gooch........

Now you're making me feel old. Incidentally, I took my 8-year-old daughter to the Monaghan game and, because of the in-laws, she was wearing her Monaghan jersey while I was in the green and gold. She spends the summer up there and my wife's family are fanatical supporters, so they almost have her brainwashed. They took her to the Donegal game in Omagh but the quarter-final was her first Croker experience...and she was an absolute star.
We've reached a happy compromise . "She can wear that thing in May, June and July," I told them, "but when the serious business starts, it'll be hoops upside her head!"
