Its quite clear that the best footballers in the county come from Tralee/Killarney just look at the teams in div. 1 this year!! There are 10 alone from Tralee on the Kerry Minor panel so no doubt town teams are still providing good players

Plenty of good footballers in Tralee/Killarney, but to say the best come from there is ridiculous. From what I know, West kerry are very strong right now at u16 and minor level, it was mid-Kerry some years ago, South Kerry dominated for how long?! lol It comes it waves, Tralee/Kilarney football is always strong, but the "best"? nah

You can find far more superior players down the divisions that are part of smaller more rural clubs! If those clubs had the number of players around the 17-18 that the town teams have then the town teams would be nothing

Has the final panel been selected or is there still a chance some players can get in? I know of several excellent players that didn't even get a trial, how was this panel picked in the first place? Answers please preferably from the selectors!!!!

Gavin Curran will surely be in goal, TOP CLASS KEEPER, Cathal Long should be in the full back line hes a bull of a man and one of the best full backs in the country for his age. Eanna TP and Dara Sé in the half forward line i presume either Dazza, Eanna or longy would be captain after gaeltacht winning wkc?

my team would 1 Gavin Curran 2 Martin Tierney 3 Shane o' Connor 4 Colm o' Sullivan 5 Gavin Crowley 6 Cathal o' Luing 7 Jake Moran 8 Ronan Murphy 9 Kieran Murphy 10 Eanna o' Conchuir 11 Niall Sheehy 12 Ger o' Sullivan 13 Sean Moloney 14 Gary o' Sullivan 15 Brian Crowley good team but i think Cathal Long would be better at full back and surely Dara Sé would be starting the man can score from anywhere? my opinion

Kilmoyley hurler Daniel Collins is a very useful footballer. He was on an extended training panel last year. Plays football with Ardfert. Hurling is his main game but if he committed to the football, he d surely be in with a shout for a place on the panel at least.

just heard that ciaran o'connell from stacks hasnt made it which i find strange. In the first round he got the better Niall Sheehy and against Gaeltacht was the undoubtfull man of the match cleaned out midfield and completely dominated Eanna o conchuir and then dara o se in the 2nd half, would the amount of Tralee players on the panel have something to do with it?

Right lads not long to go now until April 14th and Kerry's first outing v Tipp to be played at venue in the Kingdom. I heard Kerry were playing a challenge game the weekend against Dublin with panel of 30 players. Anybody know who's invloved. I was told 4 lads are in from the Motchels, Shane o'Connor, strong, athletic back, Jake Moran, related to John Higgins, former Kerry player, Niall Sheehy, of the Sheehy dynasty and a classy forward, Sean Maloney, some athlete. I saw this guy playing on Sat v Dr Crokes, very skillful and powerful mover on the ball.

I'll have a go at a team. I don't have any special knowledge and I am probably a million miles off but of the players I have seen around the minor leagues I like the following:
1. Gavin Curran 2. Shane O'Connor 3. Cathal Long 4. Martin Tierney 5. Jake Moran 6. Kieran Murphy 7. Gavin Crowley 8. Ronan Murphy 9. Gary O'Sullivan 10. Sean Moloney 11. Niall Sheehy 12. Adrian Spillane 13. Adam Barry 14. Cillian Fitzgerald 15. Kevin McCarthy
I know there are some serious other forward talents in the panel but are we a bit weak in the backs and at midfield? Is Tom Kelleher from Rathmore on the panel?

Tierney did himself a lot of favours in Strand Roads win over Gaeltacht last evening with a fine display at midfield; Ronan Quille another to stand out winning his battle with Cathal O Luing with Jack Savage outstanding in a great win- 3-10 to 2-11.

Was that in the minor county league? Who got the scores and where were each of the players mentioned playing? I assume Tierney was full-back, Quille at full forward and Savage probably started at centre-forward but roamed a bit between there and the full forward line??

Ya I saw Niall Sheehy injure his hamstring against Dr Crokes. Scored a serious soccer style goal that day. Hamstring can be dicey injury, hard to know how severe it was and will usual taping be enough to get you through a game as competive as Minor intercounty championship.

Cormac Coffey gave Danny Carroll a run around tonight, in the strand road stacks game. Still only under 16s too. Jack Savage or Greg Horan not playing due to the Kerry Minor game I believe.

As always with the county minor team the rumour mill is in overdrive. But there are a few things I have heard that I was wondering can anyone clear up for me?
I hear Jake Moran has in fact been dropped off the panel, strange if you ask me considering the team appears to be short on defensive options. Was it a disciplinary issue? Also is it true Sean Moloney is operating in a wing back role for the team? That is very strange for me considering he would be one of the best forwards there but apparently he is excelling in his new position.
Considering the team is weak in the backs area I am surprised Ciaran O'Connell from Stacks hasn't made it. He usually plays in the half back line for Stacks and any time I have seen him he has stood out. I wonder did the management look away from him considering the already large Tralee contingent on the panel. We all know the politics involved at this level, so many people have to be kept happy... it's a shame really.
I believe Niall Sheehy will miss the opening game.

Based on current form Cormac Coffey is a must for the minor panel; gave another outstanding display tonight for Rahillys on the back of his fine game against Gaeltacht last week- there may be some better defenders than him out there but there are not six better than him! O'Connell from Stacks did not shine tonight and yes I believe Moloney is being played wing back as he cannot force his way into the team in the forwards!!
Final score Strand Road 1-12 to Stacks 1-5.

Judging by the comments here regarding the Kerry forwards i think tis time to cancel the hotel on Saturday week !!!!!! Tipp will be travelling with a decent team but playing Kerry in Tralee and with Cork awaiting the winners it is a daunting prospect. Still the team is hugely experienced for a minor team with many having won Munster and All Irelad medals last year. I hope they give a good account because the knockers will be lining up here in Tipperary should they get a trimming .

Did any other players stand out from the stacks strand road game? Jake Moran was being played at corner back a position new to him and in my opinion O Connell isnt up to inter county standard. I still here Fitzgearld and Sheehy are massive doubts!

For me, no one in particular for Stacks stood out, but I missed the start of the game. Mitchell Donnelly was another one that impressed me, Tierney did ok but looks out of place at midfield, caught a massive ball when he ended up in the back line. Quill in Full forward kicked some important scores in the second half too. Not the best of games in terms of football though I felt
