Last night the under 17s trained in Fitzgearld Stadium and at the moment have a panel of around 28. I watched the training and noticed a few big names missing and found out some of these players aren't even on the panel. Hopefully we wont have another minor year when players who are clearly good enough are left out like Ciaran Deane Brian O Shea and John C O Connor to name a few. They look good though in Mid Field and in the backs however no real star in the full forward line.

Is John C OConnor underage again this year? Watched him play in the minor championship last year (Disclaimer: have only seen him once) and he absolutely lorded it. Won more than half the games kickouts on his own

12 of the Tipp team are underage again so they'll be the team to beat. At least Kerry will have home advantage this year I presume, unless they meet in the final, where it depends on the senior game.

To imagine Kerry were out the gate at half time against this Tipp side. If only....

If only I dont think that Kerry side were good enough, they had a gale force breeze at their back in the 1st half which blew them back in the gate at half time.I have seen that Tipp time a few times now and they are a better team than kerry and thats not being disrespectful to the our minor just my opinion.
Why are people getting worked up trying to pick a minor team in August for a game that be played next april, one of the reasons why kerry minors teams have lost in the last few years has a lot to do with pressure, there is as much pressure nearly on the kerry minors every year nearly as the seniors, can you imagine the Tipp minors being under as much pressure this year, maybe for once we can just tone it down a bit and not name every player who scored a point in 2 games in the county minor league

The Jeremiah Kerins U-17 tournament is on this Saturday in Milltown/Castlemaine and Listry. Kerry, Cork, Mayo and Wexford are taking part. Many of the Kerry minor team for 2012 will be playing in this competition.

And many of the Tipperary minor team for 2012 will be playing in Croke Park, the following Sunday. The draw will be crucial so that Kerry avoid Tipperary in Munster upto the Final stage.

Watched a good few games in the Minor County Championship this year, as many as I could over the Summer anyway and plenty of talented lads out there, finding out whether they were U17 or last year minor was the tough thing! One player who I have been more and more impressed with as the games have gone has been Cathal O Luing of An Ghaeltacht. Great full back and I couldn't believe he is only 16 years of age... what do they feed them back west!

Cathal O Luing..what can i say??!...the best minor full back in the county and hes still u16..lots of pressure on him for example he was full back for pobalscoil chorca dhuibhne seniors and he only 15.definitely should be drafted in the minors

O Luing is a real talent, no doubt about it; he will have plenty of colleagues with him next year on the minors such is the talent in the Gaeltacht right now- Eanna O Concubhair and Pol Breathnach are also outstanding footballers- both came in as subs in the minor final on Weds night and both still under 16 this year- PS Corcaduibhne will make a very bold bid for the Corn Ui Mhuiri this year with the combined talents of Gaeltacht and Dingle in their midst.

Could people stop asking for what everyone thinks will be the starting 15 this year, its crazy to even think about that. There's plenty more football to be played yet between district championships and Kerry collages and Munster Collages. There are a lot of fellas yet to be discovered by the management that have not even been considered for the U17 competition. Ye can start naming the team when the panel is picked at the start of next year because i guarantee the teams ye make up now will be nothing like the actual team next year. Its way too early to even have a tread for the kerry minors anyway.

It's hard to know yet if there is a good team there next year players willl have to perform when they go for trials . Kerry have been poor the last couple of years so we are due a good team . Gavin Curran is a solid goalkeeper so I would expect him to be no 1 . Cathal o' Luing will be in the backs for sure but I would not predict anybody else really but O' Luing looks good . From my own club Danny Carroll , Daragh o' Brien and Greg Horan are three very good forwards and they will get trials it depends on how they do . I would not judge them yet .

Patrick Devane of dingle will not be on the minor team/panel in 2012.No Way after his display in the county u16 div 1 final against Gaeltacht Eanna O Conchuir wiped him out.
