Wonder who will pick up Dublins full foward? Gavin Crowley or Cathal O'Luing?

Best of luck to the minors, glad to see that the selectors have attempted some sort of game plan rather than going 15 v 15 straight up. They will have to keep it low scoring and work hard to keep the Dublin full forward Costelloe quiet (dubs I know have been raving about him).
They will need a lot of factors to go their way on Sunday but they have had a few rubs of the green already so here's hoping

7 down at half time. The wing forward Foran has impressed me so far.

There is no doubt Dublin are vastly superior but a lot of the Kerry lads are suffering stage fright, Conor Keane, usually very dangerous, being a prime example. There seems to be little or no movement in the forward line and why is Jack Savage taking frees from out the field when some of the outfield players should be lobbing them in to the likes of Jack. Our midfielders are out of it and yet there seems to be no short kick out policy while at the other end Dublin can take short ones at will while our forwards fall asleep.
Overall too much short passing , play too static. I hope it does not finish up too embarrassing

I saw the Dublin minor hurlers training yesterday. They are huge. They look supremely fit. I presume the footballers are no different. They certainly didn't look like under 18's anyway

Fair play to the lads, good effort. A pity Keane didnt fist over the bar instead of playing it accross the goal but overall the better team won.

I suppose if Kerry could have got that goal when the Dublin defender intercepted the final pass with one hand , the ending could have been interesting. Still, a close ending would have flattered Kerry. Overall, Dublin were a level above them and completely dominated the last ten minutes or so as they had done the first ten minutes or so. Kerry needed their top forwards like Niall Sheehy and Jack Savage to play at their best but neither made a significant contribution. Conor Keane did show some of his ability in the second half.
In a nutshell, the game told us three things we already knew: Dublin are very good, Kerry are limited but game.
The referee gave some very soft frees to both sides. There was no need for his intervention on several occasions as the game was played in an exemplary spirit. It illustrates once more the inability of so many referees to read the mood of a game.

Kerry played well in patches and I really think that they matched Dublin for a lot of it- a woeful start killed them. 7 points down inside 6 mins and to get it back to 2 with less than 10 mins remaining was a testament to a team that dont lie down( even with the awful lack of support they seem to get from the Kerry fans).
Once again they were out witted tactically- to give any team a 7 point headstart is not good enough and it was only when we changed the shape a bit did we compete. It had echoes of the munster final though as the changes were made too late (even if it was inside 5 mins).
If I was to give the team a rating for the year it would be something like this: Players 7 out of 10 Management 3 out of 10

Well said Kerrybhoy06! I agree totally with you, especially the ratings for the management! Time for the Kerry County Board to bring in people who actually are in touch with todays playing of football not the 70's!

Huge effort from the Kerry minors, I thought they played very well while punching well above their weight. Kerry should get a player or two from this group. Well done to all involved this year.

well done good effort by the lads.DUblin have some very good players and also were physically stronger. As SPillane said it is the closest any team got to the DUbs this year. Are many of the team available next year,? Those available for next year are: O'Luing, Pat O'Connor, Greg Horan, Eanna O'Conchuir, Jack Savage, Conor Keane plus Shane O'Connor from the bench; team did really well but turning point was when 2 down and wrong option taken with ball across the square; we finished with the 2 mid fielders we started the year with against Tipperary and like then they made no impression; management very poor, no change at full back yet Costello was stand out performer for Dublin; Dublin no 8 did not come into the game until we removed our midfield! We had one defender on the bench ( Shane O'Connor)! Team developed as year progressed but this was in spite of management, not because of them; we made numerous changes from the opening game and finally found a team; we continued to ignore the form of Kevin McCarthy ( Kilcummin), available from last year and playing seriously good stuff for his senior team in Division 2. There is seriously good talent available for next year so lets hope the management will take in plenty of matches this year, gather together a large panel and get working on the conditioning Mickey Ned feels so strongly about.

Massively proud of our lads today. They did not lie down and gave a very strong Dublin team their biggest contest all year. We may have been lacking in size compared to the Dubs but we were not lacking in heart or in skill which gives great hope for the future. Thanks to the team and Mickey Ned and his management team for their hard work and effort all year.

Well done to the Kerry minors today, they could have dropped the heads when they went so far behind. They played with great spirit and heart against a Dublin team that were obviously a level above them.

The difference between the teams was that Dublin have been conditioned from u15 to play this system........ more Tyrone than Donegal but its the winning way now. I think Kerry had as many good footballers and prospects for the future.
Soon Kerry will be regarded as relics of ould dacency...... playing skillful but naive and innocent football and losing matches to teams with "systems"

It was an okay performance. They battled well in the second half, but even at that they were eight points back from a far superior team.

I was in Croker today and it was my first time seeing this minor team, which based on forum chat meant that I was extremely worried pre match. I also have a connection with the Meath minor management team and was told beforehand that if Dublin got a start they could win by 20 points. I was seated in the Canal/Davin end and feared the worst circa 6 minutes in - 7 points to no score and Dublin rampant. It was clear as day at that stage that Dublin's full forward line was reaping destruction with young Costello in particular looking a level above what we could put up against him. To think then that that our much maligned boys would get within a scramble away from taking the lead with a few minutes to go would have been the stuff of fantasy. Great credit therefore is due to all involved for such a spirited fight back and notwithstanding the final score I would be very encouraged, particularly with the numbers available again next year. For all the talk/hype about Dublin, ex Costello I thought we were very close today and it may well turn out that ultimately we will do at least as well as them in delivering from this vintage for the senior ranks. As for this grade, I would not be overly concerned about bulk or systems but potential/talent and compared to, say, the minors that were rolled over by Armagh a couple of years ago I would be far more positive on what was on view today.

Impressed by the Kerry team today after all the negative stuff I heard about them. Far better than the recent Kerry minors v Mayo and Armagh. Six starters are available next year, maybe our long wait will end in 2013.
I wonder did Kerry realise that Dublin minors play with the "system"? Surprised and disappointed that this has now crept into minor level. Usually underage play with natural flair and reckless abundance which is a joy to behold. Another end of an era? Fair play to them they handled it better than our more vaunted seniors ever did.
Costello, best minor Ive seen in years, was the difference between the teams. Nobody would have done as well as Crowley on him who has some great moments himself. Two future stars and the first of many confrontations. We dominated the game for long periods but Dublin's power and no little skill won the day. Far higher standard than the other semi final.

Another entertaining day in Croker, KY minors, who have improved all year, dreadful start but got back into the game by kicking points from distance, bettered organised in the second half ,potentialy could have won the game if late goal chance was taken. Keep same management in place for next few years and find 4 or 5 potential seniors. Know its getting more and more difficult to concentrate on developing skill levels at this age, hope those looking after the "developement squads" encourage excellencence in the basics:catch&kick, left&right, give it & take it , When they have the basics they can then play and defeat what ever "system's" are in vogue

Was proud of how our minors fought back yesterday from an awful position. Would have been very easy to drop the heads and get a real thumping.
However I cannot get over how naive we were in defence. We were just asking for trouble with the way we set up. I really hope our management address this next year. Time to get real.

They done themselves proud in my opinion. Dublin are an excellent side and are a fantastic side. Time to move on and im really excited about next year. my team would be 1 - Andrew O' Connor (Legion) 2 - Shane O Connor (John Mitchels) 3 - Cathal O'Luing (An Ghaeltacht) 4-Tom O sullivan (Dingle) - could be wing foward too. 5-Greg Horan (Austin Stacks) 6-Conor Jordon (Austin Stacks) 7- Patrick O Connor (Dingle) 8 - Eanna O'Conchuir (An Ghaeltacht) 9 - Kevin Shanahan (Ardfert) 10 David Foran (St Senans) 11 Jack Savage (Kerins O'Rahillys) 12 - Conor O' Shea (ST.MARYS) 13- Eamon Mcallen(Austin Stacks) 14- Killian Spillane (TEMPLENOE) 15- Conor Keane (Legion)
Anyone else with any predictions?

Hard to predict this years team not to mind next years!! However, Cormac Coffey ( Strand Rd), Barra O'Suilleabhain( Dingle) and Shane Ryan ( Rathmore) would have to be included at corner back, midfield and full forward respectively. Greg Horan would be better suited to a wing forward position, hard to see McAllen making it good and all as he is.

Mickey Ned was very bullish when he was interviewed after the game guaranteeing that Kerry will be back in Croke park over the next year or two. Hopefully he's right.

Having been in Croke Park yesterday, i, like many fellow Kerry supporters sitting near me, cannot understand how the selectors left our full back marking the Dublin number 13 for the whole game.
