Mick Deegan son players for the club in Ashbourne where he lives. How is he playing for Dublin. Did know that was allowed Ashbourne is right on the border with Dublin so maybe they live on the Dublin side. More likely thou is the rule that allows children play for the club/county they live in or where they're parents are originally from.

I saw Dublin playing Kildare earlier in the year and I thought that they were brilliant, it was men against boys stuff. Physically they are very imposing and the Kerry team lacks these type of players, particularly in defence. Dublin beat Meath by an easy 12 points in the Leinster final, they have coasted through most of their games. Kerry should have no chance, ditto Tipperary in the final last year. In 2008 the Roscommon minors were beaten by 30 points by Armagh in a challenge at the beginning of the year, yet they went on to beat Kerry in a replay. Given the age group, minor games are notoriously volatile and Kerry might do a lot better that people think next Sunday. A good start is vital, if Dublin get a run at us early on it will be curtains.

This is a really good Dublin side. Minor structure needs looking at.

I remember being at a minor final in the late eighties, not sure of the precise year, it was a curtain raiser to one of the Cork/Meath finals, when Dublin were overwhelming favourites but Kerry manged to beat them. However, this year's Dublin team is supposed to be exceptional. I have seen Kerry in most of their games and they certainly cannot be described as exceptional but they are dogged devils.

That would be the 1988 winning minor team. 1 P. O'Leary 2 P. Lenihan 3 N. Savage 4 J. O'Brien 5 L. O'Flaherty 6 V. Knightley 7 S. Walsh 8 E. Stack 9 F. Ashe 10 P. Laide 11 D. Cahill 12 S. O'Sullivan 13 C. Geaney 14 D. Farrell 15 B. O'Sullivan Subs F. Doherty
Brian Stynes was on the Dublin team that year.

You're right Mickmac- Michael Deegan plays his club football with Donaghmore Ashbourne but is on the Dublin team. As far as I'm aware the fact that Mick played for Dublin allows him to do this. In the Leinster Final Donaghmore Ashbourne were in the unique position of having 3 players involved, 2 on the Meath team and Michael with Dublin. Ashbourne is on the Dublin border and highly populated by Dubs who moved out to the new housing developments down the years.

I think the Minors stand no chance . It would be great if they surprised everyone but i can't see that . I hope we can get 4 or 5 players out of that team to play seniors . That's what i am looking for .

Got 3 very good senior players out of that team - O'Leary, Flaherty and Pa Laide. I can recall John Brendan O'Brien from Beaufort at corner back in that campaign. Put in some fine performances. Niall Savage was a promising full back. His nephew Jack now on the minor team! That would be the 1988 winning minor team. 1 P. O'Leary 2 P. Lenihan 3 N. Savage 4 J. O'Brien 5 L. O'Flaherty 6 V. Knightley 7 S. Walsh 8 E. Stack 9 F. Ashe 10 P. Laide 11 D. Cahill 12 S. O'Sullivan 13 C. Geaney 14 D. Farrell 15 B. O'Sullivan Subs F. Doherty Brian Stynes was on the Dublin team that year.

Ashboune is a good 10 miles inside the Meath border.
I could be wrong but i thought that playing for the county your parent is from only applies if you cant make it with the county of your birth.
By the way, Barney Rock lives in Ashbourne too and the son Dean plays with Dubs u21.

Sorry Mick have to correct you Ashbourne is nowhere near 10 miles from the Dublin border. It may be 10 miles to Finglas but Dublin starts much further out than that around The Ward area. In fact at one point about a mile and a half from the main street heading for Garristown you can straddle the border with County Dublin, something we loved to do as kids- jumping into Dublin & back again, there was even a noticeable difference in the quality of the road surface. It is because of this that Barney Rock lives in Dublin, a couple of hundred yards back down the road and Dean would've been eligible to play for Meath.

Kerry though real outsiders could put it up to Dublin on Sunday; they have already beaten Dublin in a challenge game and will relish a shot at the Leinster champions; Kevin McCarthy has been playing really well for Kilcummin and has been drafted into the recent training sessions; with the return of Eanna O'Conchuir at midfield an upset could be on the cards; Paddy Power have them at 5/1 which in a two horse race is a great bet! Kerry +6 pts are 10/11 with PP - a 6 pt lead in a minor game is a lot -you only have to look at what happened to Mayo last weekend, plus Tipp were given no chance last year

I really hope that the ref is of a better standard than the plank who was officiating in the minor game last sunday. Kerry are up against it as this is a very strong Dublin team. I would sum it up as: dreaming of a victory, hoping to keep it tight but expecting to lose

Are one of the Crowleys not under-age again next year? The Crowleys are twins! You learn something new everyday Strange that they arent referred to as the Crowley twins like the Galvins from Ballymac always were.
