was reading alot of the comments and from a down man up in in newry thanks for all the congrats. The ccc however didnt fish hook a player and cryall people want you could say that no matter what a great footballer paul is why does he have to do stupid thing year after year.Down and Kerry play similiar football man on man none of the blanket defence and negative football that fellow northern teams started.I thought that we where a team on a mission yesterday and godvwilling we will win the semi. Was at a u12 match earlier and that vibe was so good after yesterday club football in down needed this and we will push on and on that is where our future teams will be brought from.Kerry has had a great run and my god you set the standards we all have to reach.First person to shake my hand yesterday after the final whistle was a kerry man who can up 5 rows to do it that is what its all about and he also hugged me said my passion made him do it so to you all thank you and an dun abu

congrats redonion and all the Down supporters, an excellent performance. I hope you go on a win Sam now. Kerry's woes quite obviously stemmed from an inept midfield performance. Finding defenders and midfielders to curb the inevitable exodus is the priority now and a fairly tall order. A couple of quiet years ahead possibly but maybe the break it'll bring a sense of perspective to our next AI title acheivement. Congratulations to all the Kerry players and coaching staff over the past decade, an amazing group of men, legends. How lucky we were to have experienced the past decade of brilliance. No doubt, we'll be back. Ciarrai abu.

Good luck to Down. back to Kerry, how does David Moran still manage to play for Kerry. he has never had a good game for Kerry. he should go back to club football for 2 or 3 years.

Just watched kerry's disallowed goal on the rte site link. An appalling inept piece of refereering. The curse of incompetent officials remains amongst us. A seminal moment and decision, it would have put kerry one up with Downs scoring ratio having dropped below radar. The stats read that only two kerry players were tried by TV and sentenced by the CCCC this summer. It's a pity that TSG played a role in pushing this great kerry team of the stage, eventually time be will called on all great champions. It would have been nice if kerry could have gone out with the dignity of defending champions beaten by a better fresher younger and deserving Down team on the day. The over riding feeling of the summer is that there was an anti kerry vibe around the place that could not wait to see the back of them quickly enough. A distasteful stench emits from TSG studio. the sunday game didnt put its fingers into eoin cadogans mouth, nor did they hit the limerick forward (cant remember his name) and elbow into teh head. paul galvin and tomas o'se did. they were banned for those actions and rightly. you cannot blame anyone but them for them being missing yesterday. fair enough to say other players should be getting bans too but that doen't change the fact that the two lads did the crimes they were banned for. end of story.

Fair play to Down indeed. There was a young couple behind me from Down and the marvel they had for Gooch was extraordinary. They simply couldn't believe his genius. In fairness to him he was as good if not better than he ever was. Nice bunch of fans and I wish them and Down well in the Semi.
Unfortunately for a Kerry perspective the Gooch was a one man band yesterday. His vision and skill was as good yesterday as it ever was. He was simply breathtaking. The pity was we couldn't give him the ball as much as we liked.
Credit to Down. Fantastic display. It looked for a spell in the first half that they lost their way only to rally again. That period really rattled Kerry. And credit must be given to Down for this. Marty Clarke has the sweetest kick pass in the country and was a joy to watch. Benny Coulter was electric as well and led the half forward line extremely efficiently. Aidan in fairness to him didn't do a whole lot wrong.
I think people are jumping the gun a little here. Fair enough we will lose one or two lads to retirement but there is plenty of life left in this Kerry team. Tommy Grif Tom Sullivan and Mike Mc will probably retire the boots but other than that I reckon we will have a good cut off it next year. I wouldn't quite panic yet.
Midfield is our achilles heel. Quirke did his utmost before succumbing to injury. He tried his heart out and that's all you can ask for. When Quirke got going Kerry got going. Seamus I'm afraid produced yet another performance that just did not cut it. But he will be back.
Poor aul Declan hobbled his way around the pitch after the 5 minute mark and as an earlier poster said he would have been pulled ashore had we someone to replace him. He was obviously injured and try as he might it just didn't happen for him. No fault on Declan.
We didn't have the rub of the green simple as that. Things went against us but hey that's sport, that's life. As Tomas O Se once said we'll do what Kerry do, we'll dust ourselves down and we'll be back next year. Come January and February we'll get the old spirit back again.
Leadership was lacking yesterday big time. Where Down had leaders we had scraps. Gooch led like I've never seen him do. Magic absolutely magic. It's a pity he was on his own. A ball was driven into him in the first half and he tried to gather it on the 40. Not a single Kerry jersey was within 20 yards of him. Three Down boys around him and the man nearly won it. He never gave up. I left Croker knowing we have one of the finest men to ever kick a football let alone wear the Green and Gold. And the *e that man has put up with over the last couple of years. A pure legend. They should name a street after him in Killarney or designate a day of the year to him.
I'll stick to my guns that this is no end of an era. While we have men like Galvin Gooch Declan Marc and Tomas O Se etc the sun still shines bright in my opinion. I'd like to see Marc given a cut off playing centre back next year, leave the man cut loose. He would make a great leader from number 6. Yes I agree he is one of the best corner backs around but I'd love to see him out there.
On a final note I'll watch the remainder of this Championship with great interest. It's there for the taking by any team left now. Kildare will really fancy their chances. I hope Down will give them a hell of a rattle. It would be nice to see one of these win it. Lovely brand of football played by both sides and should make for a cracking Semi.

I watched him playing against Donegal in the league about 18 months ago and I thought I was watching the future of Kerrys midfield.....hasnt happened for him. Whatever the reason I am sure he hasnt played poorly on purpose. He has the talent. I just hope it comes back to the surface sometime soon. God knows we need it.

Were all entitled to our opinion and I'm intitled to point out that TSG and the CCCC stopped identifying and suspending players after they had sought their pound of flesh. Of course its not the first time myself and ur goodself have disagreed on a point, but I suspect the only thing we'd agree on is that the White Strand is a nice place to go for a walk on Stephens Day morning before the South kerry Final

Lads..I have been a long time lurker on here because I spend a lot of time in Corcha Dhuibhne and I love Kerry football....THE best team of the last ten years have given me a lot pleasure...and I have had great craic talking football with Tommy Griffin, Paraic Corcoran, PO and Tomas over the last number of years....yesterday in Croke Park was one the best days in Down football EVER...I hope we can capitalise on this enormous achievment and go on to win Sam Og. Mo mhile buiochas to the numerous Kerry men men who came up to me after the game and wished us well.....gentlemen one and all...I'd expect nothing less from youse boys.
We beat ye well and it was well deserved...it's our day in the sun now and you can be damn sure we're gonna get a good tan...thanks lads for the mighty games of football over the last 10 years...I hope we can take over now and do the same.

redonion: Congratulations to you and Down. Had great banter before, during and after the match with a few of your fellow countymen and women. Knowledgeable, passionate, friendly and quick to give credit where due, especially to Gooch. Couldn't lose to a better bunch. 5sams: You have impeccable taste with your grá for an Daingean. Hope you'll be re-registering on this forum soon. "6sams" has a nice ring to it... ;D As for ourselves, we were beaten by a better team. But we'll be back - and sooner than many expect. Lift Sam now cos we're looking towards 2011....

Congrats to Down and all their supporters. Down outplayed us fair and square and we can have no complaints. Some great points were scored from tight angles. They were a lovely bunch of Down supporters there yesterday. Pity so few Kerry people traveled. I think a little more support for our team wouldn't have gone astray. Doubt the result would have differed. Gooch was brilliant but alas could only do so much on his own. He was going out around midfield in the end trying to get his own ball. The Kerry team have given us many many good days for many years now and I appreciate that. We can't win them all. Would have wished we bowed out yesterday with a better performance but I'm sure all the lads feel that too. I doubt they put in any less training this year and must be disappointed. Hope they enjoy the break.

Looking at the game again on TSG tonight, i think people are making too much of Killian Young's disallowed goal. The whistle was blown well before he shot for goal and the Down defenders had realised already and weren't closing Young down. Certainly not a foul throw but there is no certainty a goal would have been scored so to say that a goal was disallowed is false, a goal opportunity was.

what a pathetic little man kevin mcStay is. Would anyone in kerry be prepared to give this little fellow an all ireland medal to compensate him for his lack of one. His anti kerry bias is just too much. Last week he was on about the hot zone and tonight he was on about the disallowed kerry goal being a lateral handpass. The guy is a spoofer. Tony Davis was very fair tonight-no agenda. Colm O' Rourke has always supported Kerry too. It just seems as if McStay is on analysing every game and he has these stupid little sayings like "Hes putting a lot of heat on it" or "He togged well today". How can this guy get a job analysing games when he is not fair to every team. Was in a case of collecting ten crisp packets and you get in or something

He doesn't even know the rules which is the sad thing, there is nothing in the new rule to prevent a laterla striking action , all there needs to be is a clear striking action which there clearly was. I wonder if I could get a job on the sunday game if I demonstrate a lack of basic knowledge like him. After all he called on Kerry people to apologize to Anthony Tohill earlier in the year, I wonder will he now apologize to us given that we pay his wage with our license fee?

Congratulations to Down they deserved the win. Their supporters were very friendly and there was no gloating afterwards. Spoke to one man and he told me that at the beginning of the year his sole ambition was for the team to get promotion in the league. He must be in dreamland at the moment.
Tough on Jack and the lads but they had their chances to get back into it and it must be hard to maintain motivation levels year in, year out. Looking back on the year there are talking points certainly, but that is for another day. Anyhow we support them win or lose and look forward to another campaign next year.
Congratulations to Rashers and the Dubs too, they never panicked and the victory was well-earned. Was surrounded by Dubs supporters for Tyrone game and you could see they were reluctant to believe until the game was well and truly in the bag. They have endured their fair share of hurt these past few years that's for sure. Best of luck to them and to Down.

I was very disappointed with Jack's lack of sportsmanship when he gave that interview to that girleen. Looking for excuses and blaming the CCC and the media for Kerry's defeat reflects poorly on this county. In contrast, Mickey Harte was graceous and smiling eventhough his team were robbed by the crossbar and goalpost. Looks like, 'what goes around, comes around' and Kennelly's hard man antics last year and subsequent gloating in his book has come to roost, and his medal will now look very tarnished, as indeed it is. It's no wonder Mick O Connell was scathing on Kerry's new tactics when he took the trouble to phone a well known radio programme last year. He said, and I quote " If you can't win playing honest football, then you should lose with grace" Jack O Connor take note.

You're spot on regarding Jacks interview, there should have been no excuses we were outplayed on the field and on the sideline end of story, no matter what we think of the CCCs over zealous scrutiny of Kerry games, sometimes you just have to bite your tongue and give credit where credit is due and look to the future and move on if we start getting bitter then we will be in bigger trouble next year. Tony Davis stood up for Kerry last night in a big way on the Sunday Game.
He said that Jack had a point that the CCCC dont look at all games.
McStay came across as a small man with a grudge against Kerry. He couldnt bring himself to agree that the CCCC were acting in an arbitary fashion.
McStay says that the refs decision on the Kerry goal was correct. Only two people in the Country seems to think so......himself and the ref.
It was difficult I suppose for O'Cinneide to nail his colours to the mast but he made his points all the same.
There are no sides to Jack. He feels hard done by and it showed in his interview.
