Now that the Tomás O Sé incidents have been dealt with its time to move on.Time to start getting the heads right for the quarters now... the qualifiers will be interesting over the next few weeks.
I'm hoping and praying that we get some sort of decent draw in the quarters. A draw against Cork or Tyrone/Monaghan could put an end to our year. Other than that I would say we have a good shot at winning.
Getting into an All Ireland semi - 2 lads back in action - as Tadhg said we'd be a totally different f*cking animal...

Whatever about Tomas, Galvin would be a massive loss if we drew a decent team, maybe if we get a northern team we should aim for a draw !! Blitz them in the replay with Galvin and Tomas !!

Monaghan are the only team I'd prefer not to meet in the Qtr-Final...and I suspect they'll be on the same side of the draw 9as provincial winners) as ourselves anyway so that will take care of that. After that, Cooney can play any of his old tricks, we'll be ready.

We have four weeks to come up with a solution as to how to replace Tomas and Paul. A tough draw and we are likely to be out. At least there is little chance of complacency which I felt affected some of the performance on Sunday. Normally I would expect Reidy to come in and move Marc to wing back. However given how Tommy and Tom haven't been at their best this year it would represent a massive risk to release Marc from the full back line. Bohane at this stage is most likely I feel. but it is a long way out at this stage.

Bohane and Reidy are ahead, I'd imagine, of O'Mahony in the running for that spot right now. We have issues though with midfield and right half-forward also so we may be looking at a 'different' solution. Personally, I'd go, at this point, with Daniel Bohane at wing-back, Quirke and Scanlon (if Seamus fit...if not,David Moran) at midfield and Johnny Buckley right-half forward for starting. The next few weeks will be interesting ones at training.

I think it will be a choice of Bohane or Mahony as a straight replacement.
What about bringing Reidy into the corner and moving Marc out?
We have options and it depends on who we get as well of course.
Tom O' Sull will come good: Croker in august etc.
I am looking forward to the "Kerry are finished stories" already just like the q /final last year!

Latest rumour is that Mary McAleese will throw in the ball for Kerry's Quarter-Final. Game will be refereed using live links to The Sunday Game studio and also the TV3 studio. Five minutes after the end of the match, RTE, TV3 and the CCCC will hold a conference call to discuss what suspensions will be handed out to the Kerry players.

What about bringing Reidy into the corner and moving Marc out? That's what my money would be on if the game was on tommorrow, but there's plenty of training to be done before then

Now that there are a few places up for grabs, we should hope that a few fellas will be chomping at the bit to impress management and force their way onto the team. That's my bit of positivity for the day, i think!

Tomás is up there with the greatest half backs we've ever seen.
We have the cover in the back line however to be able to get through the next round without him.We have a good few options such as...
Padraig Reidy in the corner Adrian o connell in corner Daniel Bohane on the wing Aidan on the wing
We also have the likes of Lyne and Paudge O Connor but i think they are more for future years.
If we are to put either Padraig or Adrian in,his would see Marc move out to the wing.
Lots of ifs in it at the moment.a lot of what happens will depend on who we are drawn against obviously.
Its going to be strange going out for a championship game with only one O Sé brother on the pitch.

I saw O'Mahony walking around after the match the last, day he looked very slim. If he was showing a bit of form in training i would say Kerry should go with him. You know what O'Mahony is capable of on the big days, you don't know what Bohane is capable of and Reidy has shown that he is a vulnerable corner back.

Bohan did a mighty job when introduced against Galway in the 2008 1/4 final. He did quite well against Cork when he came on in the replay. I wouldn't fear for him. As regards your original point, a fit and in form Mahony would be a huge asset especially in the circumstances.

Might be as simple as giving Tom O Sullivan a holiday at wing back and slotting P Reidy into the full back line, although I suspect the draw will determine who stays at home to mind the house.

We will head to Croke Park without our best half back and leader, without our best half forward and ball winner and without a decent midfielder. If we draw Tyrone or Cork god help us. Think we will take anybody else after a tight struggle.

if limerick make it thru the qualifiers are we allowed to be drawn with them? No, we can't meet Limerick as they are the losers of the Munster final, but we can meet Cork

Depending on the opposition, placing Marc at RHB and Reidy at RCH could be a solution to the absence of Tomas. Marc would be better at winning the dirty ball than Bohane or O'Mahony, IMO.

I for one will be hoping that Limerick get beaten in their qualifier game unless they take out Cork.
As I said only Cork or the Ulster finalist losers would worry me in the quarters. Anyone else and I think we'd give a decent account of ourselves..

Anyone else and I think we'd give a decent account of ourselves.. A lot of other teams would fancy a weakend Kerry team in the quarters and try and use physical tactics to blow us out. Down, Armagh, Derry, Kildare while certainly lacking in terms of footballing ability (no disrespect) to a full strength Kerry. They may be encouraged by our weaknesses in the middle and the fact we have lost 2 of our most influential players on top of losing 4 star players from last year.

lads, there is plenty of food for thought here, having reidy placed into the full back line is a real option, with mark moving to the wing, with freedom to travel. this we all know he can do.
as for midfield, def a horses for courses approach here, i think jack and the lads are doing a great job here, really making the right moves at the right times. would love to see buckley have a run out also, probably a better option than moran at this time.
but lads its a way too early to call, had been fearing the quarter after losing t o se. but the more i calm down and look at the panel, i think we still have the guys to cover. heres looking forward to seeing a o mahony run back on to croker, with a giant roar of appreciation.
lets see how the qulifiers go, for me its getting exciting, cant wait! but one thing i must say is that i am very happy with my fellow supporters and the admiration and now total respect and regonition we have for all the lads have acheived. its fantastic to see guys getting a massive roar and standing ovation when they run out. one can really feel the gratitude whilst in the sand and terraces.
THANK YOU EVERYONE, PLEASE KEEP THE GREAT SUPPORT UP!

I would say that if they were to disrupt the full back line at all to make up for Tomás' absence it'll be Tommy Griffin to move out. He has done this even in games where he has been named at full back anyway so it wouldn't come as any great shock. For a lot of the limerick game Tommy was almost playing as a centre half back with Marc and Tom left inside.

Is there any truth in the rumour that they want to put the kerry game on the Monday of the August weekend due to the Irish Open? Has anyone else heard this?

The game could be played the Monday... As far as I remember the Quarter Final against Dublin was played on the Monday last year...

this was supposedly agreed at the start of the championship, that the game, if kerry were to advance, was not to clash with the three irish open. so we'll just have to wait and see, maybe the dubs as a stand alone fixture!!

I suppose one way of getting around Paul's and Tomás suspension is that the team that we get in the quarter final draws it's last qualifier causing us to suspend our quarter final til the following week. I think a quarter final had to be played on the second weekend in August last year because this situation panned out.
Long shot but....
